Peerless double Oaked is one of the best bottles out there. Peerless is probably the king of craft distilleries right now
I 100000% agree. They don’t put out bad juice
Not sure if I would consider Peerless a craft distillery given the history and the mere scale of production. Peerless was one of the OG Kentucky distilleries and it was revived by the bloodline of the last master distiller. Lord knows he had a heck of knowledge passed down to him from a once legacy distillery. I would agree with you, they produce some of the best DO Bourbon and to add to that, their DO Rye is unbelievable. Cheers!

I love the upstate hunts! That store on N Pleasantburg is the one i told you about a few weeks ago. He has some stuff but is pricey. Allocated stuff was behind the counter. Thats where I found that slam dunk and I also picked up a John J Bowman there as well. Keep on hunting!! ~Shannon Wood

My nephew from Chicago gave me a Koval for Christmas a few years ago. I poured it down the drain when he left to go back. Only time I have ever done that. Usually I reserve bad bottles for people who want a bourbon and coke. It was so bad I wouldn’t even use it for that.

I agree! Its a solid bottle!
Just a heads up, Bernheim is a wheat whiskey, not a wheated bourbon. Primary, not secondary, grain is wheat and that makes it a lot more prone to that wheater frunk. Haven't had the BP version yet, but the base bottle was a bit hard to get through for that reason.

@@Bourbon_Hunter Common misconception. Weller or makers would generally be referred to as wheaters while bernheim is a wheat whiskey, and definitely not a bourbon. Its an interesting segment, because pappy, weller, makers etc are all very popular because wheat produces a softer profile, but wheat whiskeys like bernheim are fairly off-putting. Woodford Reserve also has a wheat whiskey in their lineup, or did. Never saw it sell very well.
Funny timing for this particular video. I'm up in Fort mill for work and just popped into Liquor at the lake in Lake Wylie and picked up the peerless double oaked. They also had a lot of good store picks there too.

I randomly went into jewel and found like 6 bottles of that bookers on the shelf going for $70 here in illinois. Its always the best feeling wheb you go to the grocery store without the intention of getting any booze but then find something cool.

Koval out of Chicago. Not everyone does, but I love it, like to keep a bottle on my shelf. Super unique mashbill: 51% corn, 49% millet (had to give that one a google myself). Worth a buy and try imo. Cheers! Love the content!

Nice hunts. Peerless Double Oaked is good, but more expensive than 1910 and Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Buzzard’s Roost Cask Strength is fantastic. Picked up the Bernheim BP B923 and love it. Also bought the WB Saffell Bourbon 375ml and Bond and Lillard Bourbon 375ml a few weeks ago, but have not cracked them open. Wilderness Trail is great and they have released an 8 Year worth getting. 🥃

Old E, 6yr. 118.2 @ $52, JJBOW SB $45, PEER/DO $83, BENCHFP $18 here in MO. The Wilderness trail is good. Peerless is about the most I'll spend on any bootle. I don't think I miss anything after that, my rule nothing more than $70 on any spirit after that is hard to fathom....more than one way, down the drain. Good Hunt nice selection in the stores you were in.

Guess we’re lucky here in Dallas. Peerless Double Oaks is readily available even at Total Wine here. I do love it though. My favorite double Oakes. Nice fudge oak flavor on it.

You may consider going back for the Bermhein BP B batch. Heaven Hill released two batches this year for the first time. The batches seem to be very small and the Wheat Whiskey inside is great if you like Wheat whiskey.

Weird that the Benchmark products are seemingly becoming limited in the areas you’re visiting. In a prior video, you said your go-to college drink was the Evan Williams Black label. Mine was the Benchmark 8.

Worth the money and quite a rare find.
That's the equiv of a $120 bottle which is the big ask. It's not equiv to a $120 bottle IMO and they price is mostly driven by legacy. A local store here put theirs all in the monthly raffle which is a bit of a joke but they also do that for every ECBP and Larceny BP they get so w/e. They want everyone to have a chance to win but it just means you end up winning the opportunity to buy bottles that sit on shelves all around town for MSRP (like WB Saffel, Bond and Laird, Henry McKenna, or etc).
Personally, I am more annoyed when I "win" the right to buy commonly available bottles than I am by not winning at all. Probably because you see the e-mail that you won and then see the list of what you can pick and it's all crap.
It is well worth it!

Give the White Label Origin a shot and blind it with Blantons/Blade and Bow. Also, get a chance and get a SiB Chatt. from the Distillery, its a great experience, take a day and go, its a must! Old Soul is MGP white dog barreled and aged in Mississippi, tastes a little different. Final bit if info, when you look at a Smoke Wagon UCTY, look on the back, they mad a new label earlier this year that says its at least 39 months ol, if its not there, its 4 year; pretty good MGP at 50 bucks. Enjoy the hunt!

Agree on the evan williams as a good buy but the best mixer you walked right by in Old grand dad bonded. High rye mash bill. That willett you said was terrible has a heavy cherry note. It's not for everyone. My area doesn't get benchmark full proof. We only get the regular. Hope if comes my way someday.

the benchmark is nice and the top floor is a really pleasant simple peanuty bourbon; verging on something to convert someone who doesn't like liquors. That said I can get the top floor for $13, the single barrel for $17 and the full proof for $21 here in southern California, so not worth picking up at the prices you're seeing.

Bourbon prices seem to be going up as well in KY! WSR now being sold at retail for $49.99
Also Wilderness Trail is great, the BIB is phenomenal.
In KC we often see Weller SR .750s marked way up, as high as $99 at some places. If these places have 1.75s they will be $199!😮
Luckily I've still got one place where I can get .750s for $29 and 1.75s for $49, weird thing is that's the only "premium" stuff they sell, rest is Beam and Jack. Things are getting stupid for sure!

The Midwinter has already hit, although I'm assuming this video is a good month old at this point. Act 11 is solid, especially at MSRP. My local store got one case and it took all I had to not go get 2 more bottles when I cracked mine open.

Bardstown BIB is $40 in Indianapolis and probably similar in KY. It's good but its FAR from a $100 bottle. Most discovery series are more of a $100 pour (and not a $150 like most shops charge). I did find a ton of Discovery batch 7 when I was in Indy a few weeks back for $120-130 and I almost snagged one. Batch 7 was kind of the last batch before they started heading in the wrong direction with Dickel overload and younger whiskey.

I live in Englewood Colorado suburb of Denver Colorado I've been to the Stranahan's Distillery back in September. It's a single malt whiskey the Blue Peak one is low proof option regular one in yellow label is 94 proof. Diamond Peak is aged in tequila cask I tried it on distillery tour wasn't a fan. All their products are made in house except Tin Cup which is sourced🗻🥃
Try those Green River they are so good. In NC they are 33 bucks

Dang dude... I was in Athens area a few days before your vid there dropped then I was in Greenville 3 weeks ago... I got 2 of my fav bottles ever off Pelham road (which I think is like 2 exits from 19 Whine & Spirits. From Greenville, I went to Charlotte where I got an empty Peerless barrel from a store pic. I recently got a Russells Single Barrel Reserve Store pic form Total Wine in NYC for $56 after hunting for a while! Not disappointing in the least!
And after watching the entire vid - I started and you stopped at the exact same store (L&WW Pelham Road)! Did you see the Bookers Mighty Fine Batch price there? I think it was around $110 and such a great owner. I swear - the hunt is more enjoyable than the drink! For real... I said it before - I would love to hunt with you. How can we get in touch?

The Koval stuff is hit or miss. I had a single barrel I loved. But their main stuff was a drain pour.

Its a very unique bottle. The cask strength single barrel they have is leaps and bounds above their flagship bottle. If they can find that its worth $90 if not then probably not really worth your money
