    Great vid.
We didn’t even have trouble getting the door handle apart.
Background music is perfect when stressing due to never doing this kind of stuff, replaying for the 12th time and rain clouds approaching,
Daughter doing 95% of the work made it even better.
Trimming the extra flanges on the replacement?
No way I’d have figured that out.
    If you stay Hilo?
    We say mahalo.

Thank You for this excellent, chill guide! Success! A few things: First, I had no issues with the new door handle electrical harnesses having differing tabs that you had to shave off; probably because I bought my replacement handle from a Nissan dealer. Because I went to the dealer, the harnesses matched perfectly and just pushed back into place without modifying the new harnesses. Also, I was able to purchase (from the dealer) only the broken handle part and not also the lock mechanism. Maybe not having to buy the unnecessary lock piece the price was similar to Amazon. And OEM. Second, I was just able to pull those two electrical harnesses of the broken handle out through the handle cut-out in order to disconnect the ends by removing their keepers; one located above the inner door mechanism, and one located below. There are these little, white plastic keepers that look a little like baskets or drain screens that each can be squeezed together gently with a straight needle nose pliers and the pieces come off, thus allowing the electrical wires just enough room to carefully pull the harness ends out of the door. That made it much easier to disconnect those ends; one by pushing a screwdriver into a slot, and the other, by pressing down on what looks like a U-shaped pull tab (the blue harness end one). The designers left just enough room to bring those out of the hole and trip the little security tabs. Hope this helps others. Mahalo! Aloha!

So, why did you decide not to clean up all the black gunk around the outside door handle? You were already there. A little Honda pro polish and a few wipes with a micro fiber could have made a world of difference. I'm just curious... why?

I replaced handle, but I have an "I KEY FAULT" warning every time I start the 2013 leaf. Any ideas ?

ya know, I have the exact same fault showing. Love to know the solution if/when you figure it out. I tried disconecting the 12 volt battery hoping that would do a reset but no luv

The sensor inside handle is programmed to your car. You need to have that reprogrammed.

@@tmwsk is that a take it in to the dealership thing or is it something you can DIY?

@@DavidPichard what you can also try is removing the sensor from your old handle and transferring it to the new one.
