In this week’s Torah portion is the famous story of Moses hitting the rock to get water and God subsequently barring him from leading the nation to the land of Israel. Why would Moses do that? What was his thinking? This week, we will explore this question in the context of water, Miriam, and the question of what it means to have faith.

We're told in 1 Corinthians 10:4 that they drank the same spiritual drink "For they drank of spiritual Rock that followed them, that was Christ." The rock was a picture of Christ, of how we are to have faith in Him and of how He is the constant source of our spiritual life and power. To add to Parshat Chukat's teaching here: we are not to trust in Miriam for the water, but in Christ.

Jesus Christ is our Rock - Yeshua HaMashiach! When Miriam was alive, Moses had to hit the rock to get water. When Miriam was not alive - he had to speak to the rock... There is another Miriam - at the Calvary. When the soldier with his spear struck Jesus the Rock, from His body flowed blood and WATER... and Miriam was alive. Now, Miriam is not alive and we are to speak to the Rock, pray to Him and He will give you living water. Amen!

I’m Christian and I’ve been following this story whole Moses & Israel leaving Egypt story. this scene got me so intrigued, i understand the people were so stubborn most times and am pretty sure Moses must’ve been accustomed to their complaints & live threats; yes, is not easy to deal with people so heard-headed but I knew there must’ve been more than just that, it didn’t make sense to me; in fact, I’ve been searching, reading other articles about this specific matter….why?? however, after watching this video it put ALL the puzzles together, more of in-depth search. thank you for this lesson. shalom

There are deep thoughts worth contemplating here, but let's keep God's word in focus. Not meaning to be discouraging at all. If you got deep meaning from this teaching praise God! He is referring to the text, within the story the definite article is used for rock and staff. Moses was commanded to take his staff, and elsewhere the staff.
The presumption is the staff is the one that almonds budded upon it.
They traveled in circles, so that's why I believe he states it was the same exact location earlier - the test to see if they learned the lesson.

The Sages bring down that the rock miraculously traveled with them in the desert. They didn’t need to carry it. There were four primary miracles that occurred in the desert: 1) the “clouds of glory”, which shielded the nation of Israel and protected them during their travels, 2) the “Manna”, the nourishment that descended from heaven, 3) the pillars of fire, which guided the Israel when they traveled at night, and finally 4) the well of Miriam (the rock), which provided water for Israel.
The rock traveled with them. Miraculously, by the grace of Gd, nobody had to carry it.

These stories are also a typology for Jesus being the Water of Life who nourishes and cleans us of our sin through his blood, his sacrifice on the cross. Jesus is King. Also when Moses hit the rock it was an analogy for how the Israelites were cleansed and forgiven of their sin through sacrifices of animals ( listed in the Torah), i.e. by a work of their hands through the law (striking the Rock). But with Jesus and his perfect sacrifice , we have no need of any work to save us, we only need to ask Him for forgiveness , (speak to the Rock).

Yep, dude KNEW. He smashed the very tablets of law in anger the first time. Literally, he threw away God's creation of the law in his tantrum. He struck the rock the same way, in anger. He killed a man in the same anger. He was like 120+ years old and STILL not getting it. He even witnessed that the people's rebellion and lack of faith led to 40 years wandering in the desert. It also led to Miriam dying in the desert and not entering the promise land. But God had already said NO ONE Above 20 would enter except the two men with faith to say, "let's go fight." NO ONE.
Moses and Miriam were included in that NO ONE, 40 years earlier. God already knew Moses would rebel and keep rebelling. He knew, even back then.

A rock of about 220 pounds falls off the western wall: The 5 signs of God: 1) The coming of the King prophesied in Daniel. (is it a coincidence that the rock fell next to Daniella?) Daniel 2:33-35 33 "His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. Daniel 2:43-45 43 "And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure." 2) The stone fell the day after prayer due to the destruction of the temple: Luke 20:17 "And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?" 1 Corinthians 3:9-11 9 "For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 3) The stone was on the third level of block of stones : Matthew 12:38-40 38 "Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." 4) It fell in common ground of prayer for man and women: Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."5) The stone fell from 7 metres high, the number of spiritual perfection and of the Holy Spirit : John 1:25-27 25 "And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose."Matthew 3:11-12 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire 12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

HalleluYah!!!!!!! we must learn this lesson now by calling out in His True Name! Emunah not faith the name of a pagan deity. It is our Creator alone in each of us individually that must learn to trust in the true Name. We deny His awesome power when we refuse to call out in His Name. Shema Israel. The wandering will stop when Messiah returns. We will be faced with a final test as many false ones have come. There is a spectacular hologram show being planned before the Great I am sends the true Messiah back. Abba sits on a very high and esteemed throne. A Creator to be worshipped cannot die. One, the second Adahm had to be sent. Since Messiah's death and resurrection blasphemies have abounded. We do not have to be confused, deceived and lied to again and again.. Watch Mark Manning's video "Who is G_d?" on the CZcams platform "Messenger of the Name." We need the FULL berakah promised to the descendants of the House of Israel. I too was in error calling on false ones. This yom, I watched many of these cartoons and received understanding. How many more crises must the land, Zion endure before our Creator receives our full worship? Be not stubborn & stiff necked like your ancestors. These instances of rebellion were written for our admonition. The true Messiah came in the Name of His Abba. Who are we to limit The Most High and tell Him that He cannot have a Ben? The Lion of the Tribe of Yahudah has prevailed. This Earth is too wicked. It is not a flood but this time great stones of fire that will come down as in Somdom and Gomorrah. The false one that will appear will be none other than the seed of Nimrod that the adversary will inhabit spueing out bblasphemies. Abraham was promised to be a berakah to all nations as Abraham called out in the True Name and so must we. Shema Israel, our salvation is nearer than we first believed. I do not come in a fake paganistic Greek Pagan name. Do the research as you know and are the carriers of the Ancient Scrolls the nabiy nebuahd in the True Name. They never called the Creator Hashem! Yirmeyahu 8:8.

We speak of "the Rock". Adonai Elohim is our Creator, we cannot strike "the Rock". As is witnessed, you can only strike "the Rock" once; then you speak to "the Rock".
      Shalom.

Miriam, daughter of Heli, the last son of David of the proper line of David who could be king, gave birth (her water broke) to Yeshua, (God is our salvation) and the nation of Israel (Moses) struck Him (in the persons of the Sanhedrin). He was crucified (may His blood be upon us and upon our children was their cry and so it was in 70 AD). He rose again from the dead on the THIRD DAY. He is the rock of our salvation, the fount of living water who has never failed us. When He returns, do not strike Him nor attempt to as rebels, but accept your long awaited king please. An imposter will come first, born not long ago but recently in the line of David but not the proper one, the cursed lineage. See Matthew for the cursed lineage is the lineage of Joseph. The proper lineage is in Luke and was suspended when Messiah left having no children but He will return the true and rightful heir to the throne to rule and reign soon. You will see Him coming in the clouds, every eye will see Him.
