In the airport lounge he sat, with his cane and derby hat
The grandest man that I've have ever seen,
Outside the heavy rains had grounded all the planes,
So I asked him if he'd like some company
In my rhinestone studded suit, and my cowgirl high heel boots
I guess I was a sight for him to see
But he said pull up a chair, as I fumbled with my hair
A more unlikely pair you've never seen
I was Morgan David wine, he was Chablis '59
But there we sat the cowgirl and the dandy
He was ski resorts in Aspen and summers in Paree'
I was country music, Nashville, Tennessee
The cowgirl and the dandy as different as can be
But it seemed so right that rainy night in Tennessee
Then somewhere in between, his Harvey's Bristol cream
And the beers that I kept sipping at the table
We somehow came together
For a night of stormy weather
Now there's a little bit of class in this ole cowgirl
And there's a little bit of country in the dandy
The cowgirl and the dandy as different as can be
But it seemed so right that rainy night in Tennessee
I was Morgan David wine, he was Chablis 59
But there we sat the cowgirl and the dandy
He was ski resorts in Aspen and summers in Paree'
I was country music, Nashville, Tennessee
He was ski resorts in Aspen and summers in Paree'
I was country music Nashville, Tennessee
Wonderful song !
Awesome her voice is amazing
Brenda Lee is the only person I have ever heard singing this song. I didn't know Dolly Parton had even recorded it until just now. This is the only version I ever heard on the radio growing up.
Thanks for viewing. I wonder if Brenda called Dolly first before doing it, although Parton did not release it as a single. There are 6 versions listed, 1977-1981, Goldsboro, Denver, Johnny Duncan did "Cowboy and the Lady." Dolly, Brenda and Susie Allanson did female versions. Brenda had the only hit. No covers of it since 1981!
I dated an Englishman back in the 80s. This was our song. Described us to a 'T".
Brenda Lee is my all time favourite singer! I was privileged enough to meet her at Southport in the mid 80s. Her voice is like pure velvet!
SO lucky!! i rlly want to meet her!! is she nice??
One of the best thier is
I always loves this song when I was such a little girl and I still do!! 🤗
Yes. I also remember, as a young girl liking this song. I didn't really understand what was going on with the lyrics. Did they take it further? Doesn't matter. Great lyrics, great version by Brenda Lee. Anyone know the writer, he looks familiar. I can't place him but I know he was popular
Bobby Goldsboro.
I Thought Dolly Parton had sung The Cowgirls and The Dandy back in the day❤
Brenda recorded the best version of this song by far.
Beautiful song
the Brenda and the Danny i like that.
Give me Dolly anyday!
She sings it better than dolly

Preferred Denvers rendition - this version is too weird
It lacks something.Just saying.
Eli Ortega,Jr - it lacks the emotion dolly gave it. Brenda is more a power singer.
I just got here last night John Denver singing the song and it was weird. Bobby Goldsboro doesn't better than anybody.
This is a hideous version of this song. It’s not surprising really considering who’s “singing” it
