  • Sacred artist, CZcamsr, and author Jonathan Pageau (‪@JonathanPageau‬) joins the VIRTUE Podcast to discuss his new retellings of premodern legends: the graphic novel "God's'Dog" and the sumptuously-illustrated "Snow White and the Widow Queen." Jonathan and Rob explore the pedagogical value of fairy tales, the new possibilities for culture-making in the 21st century, and the keystone role of classical education in cultural renewal.

Great interview. Anyone who follows in the footsteps of CS Lewis in the 21st century is a genius. Jonathan Pageau is one of these rare persons ….

G K Chesteron said that our lives are compared to fairytales. The suffering of the prince and princess and they live happily ever after in the end. Our own lives are full of sufferings, but we hopefully will live in eternal happiness in eternity one day. The medieval world was all catholic and it was catholicism that brought civilization to the western world. The world will become a better place when everyone returns to catholicism.

Your missing the entire narrative of the Bible. The answer is exactly what you said, Catholicism brought us to the western world and the western world is more devoid of god than ever before in history. The world will get better when the story is finished, and the Bible tells us how it will end

@@ollielearnstoread its fscinating, i didn't realise that the pagan nature of the medieval period in england had so many characters from greek and roman religions. its all mixed in with stories of fairies. there is a chapter called 'the longaevy' which i have just finished which talks about all the pixie type creatures. its quite magical.

@@bath_neon_classical That sounds so interesting, and like it would make Lewis’s other works come alive. I’m officially adding it to my reading list to remind myself 😄

When your soul knows the pattern, invoking emotion, but your mind has not the words nor concepts to explain the understanding, woe or awe is experienced. With great knowledge, only the highest wets the cheek, in brave ability. The ungrounded light of mind produces the angels and demons of gratitude and resentment. Knock humbly and the wings open with great love. Go slow. Be patient. A blaze must first be gently kindled. With the son of man, it flows.
So many words mean the same what. So many concepts mean the same why.
So many actions mean the same how. All with one light.
Why, in some people, does envy produce the power to destroy? Pride is our divide. A parent who encourages victory sews the tail. Success is for All.
Ps Joseph Fourier is a good read

Were it not for calamity, how would the sun of Thy patience shine, O Light of the worlds?
Lament not because of the wicked. Thou wert created to bear and endure, O Patience of the worlds.
How sweet was Thy dawning on the horizon of the Covenant among the stirrers of sedition, and Thy yearning after God, O Love of the worlds.
By Thee the banner of independence was planted on the highest peaks, and the sea of bounty surged, O Rapture of the worlds.
By Thine aloneness the Sun of Oneness shone, and by Thy banishment the land of Unity was adorned. Be patient, O Thou Exile of the worlds.
We have made abasement the garment of glory, and affliction the adornment of Thy temple, O Pride of the worlds.
Thou seest the hearts are filled with hate, and to overlook is Thine, O Thou Concealer of the sins of the worlds.
When the swords flash, go forward! When the shafts fly, press onward! O Thou Sacrifice of the worlds.
