  • DAY 17 and we’re nearly finished with our van conversion! How did we manage to build it so quickly?!
We finish cladding around the bottom of the seating area, make the door frame for the toilet compartment and cut & attach the ply for the top of the bed. It still looks like we’re far away but it's all coming together now. A table leg and some cushions and we’ll nearly have a finished van.

My concern would be that the heater is too close to the battery.

We did wonder about that initially too but then we figured that a car battery sits right next to a hot engine 🤔..
There is actually quite a bit of ventilation space and the locker space under the bed is all open right to the back of the van so we're hoping it'll be alright.
The heater hasn't got too hot on that side when we've tried it and I've now added a metal heat shield to try and add a bit more protection..
If there's any problems we can always move the battery. That'll be easier than trying to relocate the heater 👍
We'll see how it goes 😄

@@lookpastlimits I was just going by what happened to ameinavan her heater melted her battery last winter. Diesel heater actually gets quite a bit hotter than a car engine and the battery is quite away from the engine too.

      It’s not a criticism I think you’re doing a great job.
