  • 2 Abandoned Lion Cubs - Kruger Park Game Drives.
    Kruger Park Game Drives: gyg.me/6bcNztFL
    First, I found the 2 cubs alone right next to the road - then their mother came from across the dry river bed - the cubs ran from this side down to the dry river bed, to meet her - the 3 had a small quick reunion but the mother immediately left again(back on the hunt or maybe looking for a 3rd cub?).
    She obviously told them to stay as they did not move from that spot for several hours(they almost looked like Elephant dung with the naked eye and other cars drove right past until we stopped them and told them) - then another female showed up(most probably their "aunt") as she went and laid a few meters away but the cubs stayed at exactly the same spot which their mother told them to stay(during the quick reunion) - then the aunt left as well and crossed the road in front of us.
    Lionesses with cubs often get help from another female in the pride when the cubs are still young. We sat there for just over 6 hours waiting patiently to see what the outcome will be but left when the 2nd Lioness moved off and left the 2 cubs yet again abandoned...
    Later that evening, we got the news that the mother returned and all 3 left together. A huge sigh of relief!
    This video is the result of several clips joined together.The video was filmed on the Biyamiti Loop during a recent Safari in the Southern section of South Africa's Kruger National Park.

      @kimlee5024 - They are! But I think they realized that they were naughty in moving in the first place(when I found them next to the road). And then when their Mom told them a second time to stay - they obeyed, and did not move from that spot - not even to either run away or approach the second Lioness.

    • @KrugerParkGameDrives
      @KrugerParkGameDrives  Před 4 měsíci +4

      @jiritichy7967 - Yes, at this stage in their young lives, he is a lot bigger that the female cub. That is where their Mother told them to stay - I really don't know why as it was very open there. We discussed this in another comment as well. Maybe because she was in a rush? One of those rare unexplainable things Lions do? :)

    • @KrugerParkGameDrives
      @KrugerParkGameDrives  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It is a known fact that Lionesses abandon their cubs - most times not by choice(for example, when they get killed on a hunt), but the cubs will never run away from their mom as can be seen in this video - they patiently sat and waited for her return, which she luckily did. Thanks for watching until the end.

    I wonder where had their mother and pride run off too? The cubs were pretty big and usually those size cubs will go with the pride/mother.

      @KrugerParkGameDrives  Před 5 měsíci +3

      @TheeMrsGrinch - Exactly, This was truly a rare sighting. The second Lioness had several fresh blood marks on her. Maybe there was some kind of attempted pride take over? We can only speculate. Thanks for watching until the end.

    what made you think the cubs were abandoned? They weren't skinny, not stressed. they look curious. It's very common for lion mamas to leave cubs to go hunt.

    • @KrugerParkGameDrives
      @KrugerParkGameDrives  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @LisaMRoberti - Hi Lisa. Yes, I know. Lionesses leave their cubs to go hunt, but we don't know how long they were alone before she came back and left them again - almost immediately.(abandoned - having been deserted or left.). So it seems to be a good word which fit the situation. Thanks for watching until the end. :)

    Abit of dangerous spot as it was very open for any predators to come to.
    Luckily she came back after 6 hrs prob with food.
    Other lions wd hv killed them but female walked away prop thinking they r just cubs waiting for their mother etc!!!!
    Camera man wd hv intervened if it was needed.

      Hi. If the mom leaves them for an uncertain amount of time, all alone with no other lioness or pride members to look after them, then they are abandoned. Luckily the mother returned to collect them. Thanks for watching.
