Explanation about the castles: More than 1.000 years ago, the castles in Slovakia were built as fortresses because of security reasons - they were on top of peaks and mountains, to see easily an enemy's army approaching and to make them difficult to conquer. Those were all uncomfortable cold stone castles mostly guarding the borders of the empire or kingdom (example: Devín castle). In the following centuries, the castles served as protection against invasions of Ottoman Turks in this region. They were built close enough, so from one castle you could see at least one more with people warning you (with fire and shooting) about a danger. Later the castles were rebuilt to be more comfortable, because the nobles wanted to live there (example: Bojnice castle). Finally, the nobles changed the cold castles on top of mountains for much more comfortable, usually also nicely decorated castles in towns (example: Betliar castle).
I'm from Slovakia and I love it here. There are really beautiful places here. Everyone is always welcome here. And in fact, go to any city in Slovakia and you will normally be amazed❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰😇😇😇😇😇😊😊😊😊😊.
As a Slovak It's just warms Up my heart seeing people finally noticing and loving Slovakia so much, Thank you for uploading this reactiom you Made a really great Job!
Pravda
If you want, you should see video "from castle to castle" from Redbull 🔥 because there was some little explanation about this topic. But just in very short, yes Slovakia and Czech have lots of castles because in the past, those 2 countries (mainly Slovakia) were something like crossroad in Europe and they needed to protect the traders against robbers 😅
Traders - slovaks
Robbers - hungarians
Slovensky Raj - yes it's a really cool looking place, I've visited it long time ago...
Cheers from Poland :)
I'm from Kosice, and Dome of Saint Elizabeth is definitely the greatest and most beautiful landmark in all of Slovakia.
When I’ve seen this video I was crying … I miss my country so much…

Beautiful places On Slovakia 💥
Im from Argentinian, and Slovakia is Beautiful
Curiously, with so many videos about Slovakia and its castles, it seems no one has noticed the beautiful Smolenice Castle, which is probably he most recent one, as Count Pálfy started building it in 1912. He never got to live in it because the Empire felt apart in 1918.
The castle eventually became the property of Slovak Academy of Sciences. I used to vacation there three times a year in my childhood, teens and twenties. It is a stunningly beautiful castle in Western Slovakia. Just search the web for _Smolenice Castle_ to see many photographs showing it.
You are asking why there are so many castles... It's simple, back in the medieval times there has been no other places in Central Europe with that beautiful nature and mountains, so every king, every lord and powerful person wanted to have kind of "place to stay" so every of these rich people built one of those castles you've seen... Slovakia has been a place to stay back in day for many German, Austrian or Hungarian aristocrats, kings and so on
I'm here to correct some of your facts or add my even. I'm not trying to say, that whole your point is incorrect, but... Every noble/monarch built his Castle primarly to protect his lands and to serve as fortified base fór attacking the others, that's where castles came from, they were mainly built to serve as strategical military fortreses or fortifications even. There were times castles were used to recreational purpose, but this happened during later periods of history, it wasn't their most important purpose. They were built to guard strategically useful places from whatsoever threat, which could possibly endanger theese places.

in short: 2000 years of constant wars = castles and ruins everywhere .. ;) don´t expect to see consumer toursit friendly areas on your trip but rather be prepared to go back in time or dive in a regular daily life of the slovak people ... hiking is fantastic but if you never done it be carefull and pick only green or blue trails if you feel like you can do a lot and you are healthy go for a red hike (colours indicate the difficulty of the hike / markings). What awayts you is great and tasty food, nature, relieve from consumership, time travel experience, folklore, beautiful untouched nature and breathtaking views and spiritual reset. Enjoy =) I would propose to visit the main things like Bratislava (max 1 day) go to Trencin castle, Bojnice castle on your way to ORAVA (for nature), you could combine with a hike around Velka Fatra (near dolny kubin). There is also a preserved ancient village worth the visit.. can´t remember the name. Maybe even check Cicmany village on the way before (max 1 hours sidetrip). Or you could go for a refreshing hike in hight Tatras around Strbske Pleso + Zelene Pleso. IF you feel very strong you can go KRIVAN the mountain 2400m! You need to start latest 9am its a 5 hours walk up + 5 hour down and the last 300m are very hard. No equipment needed. You can move on to Slovak national paradise and visit Dobsinska Ladova jaskyna (biggest ice cave in the world). There you can visit many of the former traditional villages. I would propose to you to avid really hard hiking and maybe focus more on sightseing. higink will kill your energy for the next day and you will be tired. Just enjoy the views on going easy trails on grassy hills or you can use cbale cars to get to Chopok in Nizke Tatry or Lomnicky Stit in Vysoke tatry. Hiking is nice but exhausting same time and if you go for a short visit you rather visit the cities. I highly reccoment to visit also Kosice city the center is fantastic and Banska Stiavnica which is also nice city inside a huge super vulcano =) .. lot´s f things to see and you could also visit any hot springs to takesome bath in a SPA. Come in summer rather than winter ;) In winter 99% of sites are closed.
Come to Slovakia 🇸🇰✌️
my girlfriend is from Čachtice.. didnt even know how their castle looks like till now hah

Slovakia ks beautiful
hii, I'm from Košice (so is David Dobrik, he recently came to visit actually 😁)
Bratislava so feel free to hit me up
From historical point of view (Great Moravia) was Slovakia very important, so I guess that is the main reason why we have soooo many castles...
Only Devin (7th century - one of the oldest castles in Europe and in the world) dates from the times of Great Moravia (9th century). Most of the castle dates from a later period. Castles began to be built in Slovakia mainly in the 13th century after the Mongol invasion.
this is much better- Slovakia 35 most beautiful destinations cinematic video

As a Slovak myself I would consider Bratislava the worst place to visit from among those 30.
Valid reason? Can you share it with us, please?
@@davidlipa4844 the old town is beautiful (classical European city). But then you see ugly Soviet buildings from our socialist era who were never destroyed for some reason. And then they started building skyscrapers.
Bratislava is a mess.
That opening rap is terrible.
