- Sven Joakim Eriksson Thåström, better known as Thåström, is a Swedish singer and songwriter, mostly known for the bands Ebba Grön and Imperiet. He has moved between a number of genres, from punk to rock, industrial and autobiographical singer-songwriter music.
The Hoola Bandoola Band was a Swedish progg group from the 1970s whose political views leaned towards the left. Leading members included Mikael Wiehe and Björn Afzelius.

Thåström has been a solo artist and in the bands Ebba Grön, Imperiet and Peace Love & Pitbulls
Ebba Grön is Swedish punk, which is the band that he sang in when he was young.
Dud he do that "staten och kapitalet"?
"800 grader" a old favorite of mine playd as a cover by METALICA i n Göteborg czcams.com/video/lKf_AYd2t3Q/video.html the original czcams.com/video/a3UC7dWBDvg/video.html
@herrkulor3771 yes that one and 800 grader is their 2 most popular and famous songs
The Guy in the picture is the one that wrote the song, Mikael Wiehe (Wie) who you can see singing in the original video with Hoola Bandoola Band (and sitting on the stage when Thåström sings his song). The blond guy with the mustache. This was what we at the time called progg music. It was political to the left. Wiehe is enormous famous today, and still political to the left.
Together with Björn Afzelius they made a lot of popular songs until Afzelius died in cancer 1999.
Lovely reaction at 3:13! I was completely flabbergasted the first time I heard his voice, as well, and I decided to learn Swedish because of it. Nice to see fellow non-Swedes discovering and appreciating Thåström's unique voice and expressive delivery.
By the way, according to what you say in the video, I bet you would love "Vad ska du bli?" by Ebba Grön. Relevant lyrics.
Greetings from Italy.
Love your reactions! So glad when I open CZcams and see that there's a new reaction from you. Suggestion: Titanic with Mikael Wiehe (from Hoola Bandoola Band), it's like a whole novel.
You should listen to Nationalteatern's song called Kolla kolla.
Love that one😄
Nationalteatern have a lot of Great songs.👍
I must say that I really appreciate that you use the correct spelling of their names. Some people here on CZcams, mostly Americans, use letters that look similar instead.
Fun fact. The guy who sings at the old recording you start up with, Mikael Wiehe, is actually seated around the table when Laleh sings her song which you reacted to a couple of days ago.
Thåström King 👍🏻
Thåströms singing för Mikael Wiehe, the original singer in Hoola ..he is listening with his hands😉
If you want to listen to another Hoola Bandoola song, try "Titanic". A very metaphorical song about a third class passenger family on the maiden voyage of the Titanic.
Ebba Grön was probably the most famous punk rock band in Sweden, active between 1978 and 1982. They made classic songs that are played every day in Swedish radio, and they made controversial songs that are almost never played in radion. In fact, someone on Swedish radio caused outrage on the political right a few years ago by playing the song "Beväpna er" (arm yourselves), and the song "Häng gud" is probably never played in radio, it would probably have every religious person in Sweden screaming bloody murder. I like both songs, though!
Hi Max and Sujy
Not only have I enjoyed your videos, but your commentary and generous remarks are legendary.
You can swing from personal likes, as easy as you describe a short text or tune from bands you never heard of.
You are always wearing your heart on your sleeve, true to your personality, character and generosity.
I'm Swedish, so I am corrupted to talk or discuss the music coming from my native country.
However I was, and will always be a socialist.
For me, growing up in Sweden was and is the natural way to share land, knowledge and riches equally.
There isn't an equilibrium for input and outcome unfortunately, yet.
Respect and outcome must meet dialogue and agreements.
When Max reacts to Joakim Thåströms lyrics, in the same way I interpret his socialist (punk) songs back in 1977, I know music and feelings is universal.
I have followed Thåström all my life, its not political, its humanitarian.
You are more than a channel
Love
Thank you so much for the kind comment!!
"It's not political, it's humanitarian".
Absolutely! I agree totally.
I'm a 60ish child and Ebba Grön meant everything to me growing up. I've followed Thåström's career for a long time now. Makes me very happy when people discover him and his music.
We need him more now than ever. Sadly.
💚✌️

Id LOVE go see you react to "Ballad om en Amerikansk officer" by Thåström! ❤ Love your content by the way... Much ❤ from gothenburg, Swdden
It's good to see that Thåström resonates in other countries - he's a national treasure! I'd suggest that you give the song "Alltid rött, alltid rätt" ("Always red, always right") by his former band Imperiet a listen. Here's a live performance of the song: czcams.com/video/kno3N79T1m0/video.htmlsi=j9UDaB39jJU_HFRr
The man in the fåtölj (a little Frensh 😉) is one of the bandmember Hola Bandola band - Mikael Wiehe.
Gyllene Tider's song Billy is a really great song about drug abuse that you might enjoy the sound of.
React to Ted Gärdestad - För kärlekens skull
I love thåström. He has been singer in Great bands but maby his solo songs are where he sings most beutifully.
The other man is Mikael Wihe from hoola bandola band. He wrote the song. He has workt with thåström Who looked up to wihe. Mikael wihe is Great. Love Vem kan man lita på, Flicka och kråkan, Titanic and a much later song Släpp in mig.

Beväpna dig med vingar
Arm Yourself With Wings
Arm yourself with wings
Arm yourself with a song
Arm yourself with everything you longed to dream about once
Follow me upstream
Past the old church courtyard
Far past the run-down power plant
Where we played when we were little
So arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
I couldn't sleep a wink tonight
Because I knew you were on your way
I laid and listened to the cries from the restaurant
And the air was heavy and hot
I got up and tried to write something
There is so much I have to keep up with
And the darkness feels nice and warm against my body
I saw that the moon was almost full
So arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
Arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
There's a place down here in the harbour
It's just where the long-haul trucks drive by
Down there, they say that the wind is the best and if you wish for it,
It blows where you want it to
It's the the most beautiful there at night
Where the crystal ships arrive
You can see them from several miles away when you stand on the rooftops
You're going to be able to see when we go
So arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
Arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
Arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
Arm yourself with wings, with wings, with wings
Hi!
I would like to send you two the lyrics of the song Arm yourself with wings "Beväpna dig med vingar" by "Thåström."
Were can I send it?
Mikael
You can post the lyrics here.
The hand guestures are classic Thåström, it is his scene language, take a look at this one /watch?v=mqbN7_OMXjg
Fun coincidence. Right in this now, on Swedish state TV, SVT2, there is a documentary on Imperiet, one of Thåströms bands. :)
But yes. Capitalism is the absolute worst. Excluding the alternative(s).. :) Unchecked capitalism is crappy. Definately. But without capitalism, we wouldn't have anything like CZcams, and your only options would basically be to be a farmer or work at the local industry. I doubt you would love that. Well. Bureucracy would also be an option of course. Making polls about what different colours the car should be available in..
Jag gick också direkt ifrån dokumentären till CZcams:-)
Why is every song a ballad? 😭
He got amphetamine ticks. He always loved drugs..
How the hell is it possible that this is the song you react to? Love this band. But never even heard about this song 😳
Do it right. Go listen to "staten och kapitalet". This is a shit song
Easy now, if you just watched this entire video you would see that they are showing a clip from "Staten och kapitalet".
How do you not know this song? Are you a sweede? Are you a fan of thåström?
It's a well known song, but it's a cover.
@@MaxSujyNorden So is Märk hur vår skugga. I do not think anybody would wonder why you would chose that. Its an old 1700 song by sweden legend Bellman that Thåström and Imperiet made into at the time big hit song.
"do it right" and you suggest "staten och kapitalet" you know that's a cover, right? So by do it right you're saying "react to Blå Tåget - Den ena handen vet vad den andra handen gör"?
