    Keep the girt sag angle. When the wall girt sees wind load and is already sagging, it has no stiffness. The wall girt will twist and deflect inward. Check with the metal building supplier as you may be able to use a flat strap.

    • @Wintermute909
      @Wintermute909 Před 7 měsíci +4

      Yep, I just said something similar.
      Most girt / purlin systems I've seen use single bridging members that are in the same plane as the girts and span from girt to girt (rather than run across the back of multiple girts).
      So yeah I agree, they're important for spreading wind and bracing loads.

    The girt bridging you removed is needed for the girt to not buckle at the design wind load. You can replace it with just flat straps, or notch the angle around the girts.

    If the lights have seperate DC power supplies then mount them inside a sealed steel junction box that's properly bonded. Also mount output reactors inside the box so the outputs don't become an antenna. That should keep all the RF inside the box.

    Sorry about the RF the lights generate but that's LED lighting. As an Amateur Radio aka Ham Radio guy, I don't like LED lighting, have some around the house and one will cause me trouble like you have on the handheld, but this is on a lot of the ham bands mostly 75 meters where I talk a lot. I can open the window upstairs and pull the plug. Might check with the lighting people and see if they have any filtering for it,

  • @stonevalleyozark475

    Trent, one thing you might try on the RFI is to put some ferrite beads on the feed wires. I can't remember for sure but think it's a type 43, or maybe a type 47. They will create an RF choak that should suppress the RF.
    BTW I love the rack and storage solution. But anyway, I hope the ferrite beads helps with the RFI issue.

    Are you certain that angle was only for construction? Because they're in the same location that they often put bridging members which are an integral part of a girt / purlin system. Admittedly in my country bridging members aren't a plain angle running across multiple girts, but they are located at the same third (or half) points in the span.
    And bridging members are pretty important for spreading wind load and bracing loads.

I ski fly in the winter...Lights are on...I had severe squelch problems. Took about a month to figure it out. One winter morning I pushed the plane out. I started and turned everything on. Radio wouldn't squelch any noise out. I taxied out and took off with no further problem. When I was taxiing back to hangar the squelch noise came louder. I realized that I left the lights ON. I shut down and went and turned the lights off. Check Radio ...GREAT. Lights ON. RADIO BAD... Thanks...

    I found the same problem with LED lights in my house when I cut cable and went to an over air antenna for my local TV reception. Here is what I know - some LED light don't comply with FCC part 15 class B for unintentional transmitters. Some don't even comply with class A. You really have to read to product info and purchase US or EURO name brands, not that the bulbs are manufactured here. Some frequencies will be more affected than others. For example, the local ABC station is affected while the local NBC and CBS stations are not. I changed the LED bulbs in my house which solved the problem unless my neighbor turns on the high powered LED bulbs in his bathroom 30 feet away.

    For putting stuff on the top shelf - you might want to upgrade your skid steer or get a forklift or stacker. You'll never climb up there for something small that you can actually carry up a ladder, unless you build a railing and 1/3 depth small parts magazine and not move the ladder all the time. With a stacker, you could have e.g. a large box with a lid with all the camping gear inside. You decide you want to go camping? You pick up the box and you're set.
    You could have other boxes of stuff that's used infrequently, treat it like an attic but with a professional handling system. Christmas is coming. No spending half a day lugging decorations from the attic, just lift down a box or two and start setting up...
