    Good call on thinking about stumps and sticks on the tires. And my rule is: "If you get out without calling a wrecker (or another tractor and a chain) you were never stuck."

    Get you a piece of Lexan to make you a shield to mount on your roll over bar. That way you can still see but will be protected, because it will eventually through something at you one day.

    It wouldn't be a good tractor video without getting stuck 😅. The mulcher looks like it's a keeper! The only problem I have with rear mounted attachments is the constant twisting your body around to look behind you. Great video Michael 👍

    When you find a lock pin that stays in let us all know, I've lost more of them than you can shake a stick at. Bigger seems to be better until they get bent. They are a pain to keep in the brush hog, now we use 1/4" bolts and lock nuts. They're a pain also.

    Great video DP, I own the same cutter. It's mounted on the front of our John Deere 8rx. It's in Alpena Michigan and we also run a large snow blower on the front of the same tractor. Carbide teeth, instead of shredding, sharp teeth make chips. Just run a grinder over your teeth. The only other advice is use a pole saw and your CAT Excavator to put your put your trees in windrows. That wouldn't make it quicker for you instead of driving around trees you just go up and down each windrow. Check this attachment off your bucket list lol

    That is what we used to clear fire breaks and trail work was one for a skid steer, I don’t remember who made it but we called it the land tamer, the teeth on the drum were like stingers on a road grader. The good part was the work was in front of you and it was easier to chop up the bigger stuff. The neat thing with it being on a skid steer was it would chew brush like crazy and you could use it to grind stumps, and grind rocks within reason, the draw back was sometimes it would spit stuff at you depending how the drum was positioned. Great job and video.

    Mike, It works pretty decent compared to Skidsteer one. Saw Goodquad CZcams boys use the Kubota mulcher (Required bullet proof glass) and it ate through trees and stumps like butter (superfast). Just about everything you mentioned was spot on in your comparison. Might have been a little easier and faster with Skidsteer, but the job is done! BTW, you can't blame TMBTS, he did what you ask (there is video proof)!. And Captain already explained on his channel how the first air compression broke, and he replaced it (Great story)!

    • @blackw0lf993
      @blackw0lf993 Před 3 lety

      We had one in 2005-2010 at some point it was junk and I worked for a case dealer and couldn’t keep it from doing this either. Two controllers several solenoids and at least one switch. Traded it off on an older used Deer with Deer shuttle and levered FWD it very rarely had an issue. Also had a Ford (NH) which being made by same CNH yo would think would have had same issues but never caused one problem at all. We ran a smaller 60” (least lighter made anyway) behind the tractor it’s max tree was about 8” it would eat a bigger one but it and the 65 HP tractor neither one was happy about it. We also ran a front 3 point Hydraulic operated PTO that we could run rear mounted 3pt equipment on both the tractor and the skid steer. The tractor was to light to run the mulcher on the front but the 90xt would eat a lot of tree and going fwd was easier than going in reverse . The only prob that both the XT or the Bobcats we had was they was really easy to high center on a stump or fallen tree with the mulcher on. It seemed any time a log (4”-6”) got under the machine it would find away to get in the tracks. This was less a problem with the XT as it had foam wheels and metal tracks so there would be a crunch or the machine would stall before something broke or the track peeled off. The tractor did also have a lot more power at PTO even at 65 HP (still pulled slip clutch before stall engine ) it also got around those banks better (our 4wd worked ) and over stumps big logs and other items. We also would grind larger trees that were rotten or downed verses dragging them out to burn

    I thing the brush cutters mounted on Hi-flow skid steers works faster. The best way I've seen them used is with an excavator removing the trees roots and all limb the log out if desired and use the mulcher to chip up the limbs. As much as I like a good brush pile fire I like see the plant return to the earth as compost.

    So, I am thinking something is mismatched here..........That Tractor is plenty powerful but the entire setup is struggling for some reason. I run a small Kubota BX2350 with various implements for Agri and Forestry work. My favourite tool on the back is a Flail that is a mean SOB and will turn anything from scrub till 3"+ (sometimes 4" if its dry enough) into chippings without even trying. It wont do stumps unless they are really small or already rotten but man this thing is like David against Goliath. The only thing it doesnt like is tall wet and thick grass as this will bog it down, but it will eat Forestry scrub like my Daughter eats a bag of potato curlies. Perhaps one day when I am back in France I will do a video and send it to you? Please advise how to send it.............

    Lol Mike, I knew this was an old video when you said I've never run a skid steer attachment with a mulcher.
    On March 1st 2023 you were using the Case Minotaur DL 550 with a mulcher.
    I know you work hard and deserve a little "History Channel" break once in a while.
    The Tile plow job you're on now, would tire anyone out. As Tom Smothers once advised "Tread gently in the grease mud".

    The problem with using the portable mini air compressor is it will take a seriously long time. Tractor tires have a serious amount of volume, nearly two semi truck tires worth of air.

    That GoPro has earned a name. I think you should call it Forest bc it keeps a running no matter what.
