- In this video, I try using a $500 custom keyboard that I bought in Champions League Arena. I have always been curious about custom keyboards considering how expensive they are, and have always wondered how good they truly are in a competitive game like Fortnite. That is why today I decided to purchase a custom built keyboard for $500 and put it to the test against other mass produced gaming keyboards. Nice that you finally tried using a custom keyboard! I think $500 is too expensive for that keyboard, I have the same kbd67 lite and built it myself for $200. If you'd like to get another custom keyboard, I'd be happy to recommend better ones with more affordable prices xd.
Custom keyboards definitely feel so much better in terms of daily use in my experience, and I think everyone should give it a try (doesn't have to be expensive to build a good one). But for people who only care nothing else but competitive Fortnite, gaming keyboards with fast switches are the way to go still

As someone in the custom mechanical keyboard rabbit hole I can say that some 0ms keyboards are better in response time but nothing compares to building your own: choosing your own switches, case and keycaps and just enjoying the sound
POV: you suck at competing in esports titles
I mean it depends on what your doing with the keyboard, if your a gamer that plays fast pace games then get a gaming keeb but if your playing anything else or just typing then build your own. But I think building keebs is better.
@@xanid Absolute cringe. There is no difference between "gaming" keyboards and custom ones. It's all garbage marketing tactics that make you pay premium prices for less than premium quality. As someone who uses custom keyboards while gaming, I can definitely say that I'm better than most kids with their apex pro tkl's and other popular "gaming" keyboards.

The $500 dollar price point is a slight bit steep for the final product ( it would be roughly $150 cheaper if you built it yourself) but when you factor in the work done to the board and the time it must have taken to hand lube switches (for me it takes about 2 hours for a 65% board) plus since you did not know anything about lubing there would have been some serious inconsistencies in the sound and feel ( not as creamy). The stabilizers need a bit of work but they are good enough. overall i would say that $500 is an ok price (albeit slightly on the high side) especially when you factor in the time and effort spent to make the board

TBH you did pay a bit much but with how the market is now its not bad. mine costed around 400 but I bought each part myself and hand lubed the switches and stabilizers myself. you can also bind some keys with a software called VIA. The software can bind some of those random keys on the side.

Also the keycaps are higher because they are cherry profile the xoxo are the insert pg up pg down and delete
The switches are pretty fast for a enthusiast switch it has a 2mm actuation most are 4mm actuation
Also If you want to build a keyboard
Get a 200$ custom keyboard it will be pretty good
Most switches are 4mm bottom out but 2mm actuation most switches are 2mm

$500 isn’t nearly the “most expensive” keyboard you can afford. Many high quality gb’s with non-standard layouts or features go for at least $400, and thats just for the GB, assuming it even gets to you without the GB falling through the floot

You don’t necessarily need to spend $500 on a keyboard unless you wanna go overboard with a case and expensive keycaps. I have an Epomaker SK87 (Gazzew Boba U4T Switches with the bottom housings of Gateron Optical Blues) so it’s similar to the GK61, but I also have a decent set of keycaps and it only costed me $185. It’s the perfect mix for gaming and enthusiast. Still less expensive than the Apex Pro TKL btw 🤣
Also, I think I have the perfect custom Gaming keyboard for Jerian.

• Durock Plate Mount Stabilizers
• Gazzew Boba LT Top Housings + Stems with the bottom housings of Gateron Optical Reds/Yellows.

If you play esport games it only comes down to the switches (besides size). And from that perspective the keyboard is way worse than any random keyboard with red switches.
There’s been test done there’s like a 2ms difference with humans with switches
nope the gateron cjs are the exact same as any red switch so hes not losing any performance compared to a normal red switch

@@ceementality I dont care about numbers in this case. In my experience and in many others every 0.1 mm your accuation point is lower you experience a huge difference

The Ducky Miya pro is an amazing keyboard! have been using it for typing and gaming for about 3 months now and it is by far the best feeling keyboard I've ever used. Not the most high budget but definitely something to pick up in between the 100-200 dollar range if you want some customization

The PBC stock is most likely at 125Hz polling and you can change that to 1000Hz in QMK, so that would prob make it feel a lot better

yo jerian i really love the keyboard and just letting u know the wire u were talking about was coiled part of the cable and the side buttons named as x o x o are just random keys which u can use as random keys of ur choice u can use them as for anything you like in any software eg. obs etc
