This is easily their best album still to date. Its really trivium at its peak/core (my opinion). Not a single bad track on Shogun.
Definitely worth checking out the entire thing.
Ascendency is slightly better for me but it’s splitting hairs

100% agree. shogun was damn near a perfect trivium album.
Shogun is so damn good man, they’ve made alot of good music but shogun is their clear magnum opus in my book
Shogun is my favorite album from them, I agree it should be an album review, or at the least listen to the title track!
Shogun album feels like two unique ideas blended. Also I'd really recommend Like light to flies (album version), the deceived, and in waves for very nice choruses

I applaud you, it's always almost impossible for me to pick favorites lol , Shogun might be my favorite album though....or vengeance falls....or the crusade....(see what I mean? 😂)

Picking a favorite trivium song is impossible. Throes, Kirisute, Callisto, Rain, Pull Harder, Departure, Drowning in Slow Motion, Sin and the Sentence, Wretchedness Inside, Amongst the Shadows and Sickness Unto You are all tied for best
as big as trivium are, they are so fucking underrated, hopping you will check more of their stuff.
eyy subbed long ago, the algo pushed this video in front of me out of the blue though. This album got lil' middle school me into metal, still think it's got some fire tracks today (torn between scylla and charybdis, of prometheus and the crucifix, down from the sky, and this one too) aghh. the album that came next had terrific moments as well. thanks Bryan

Nice, I know everyone has said it but Shogun is indeed their best album. However, it is a bit long imo but there are no bad songs. I feel the same way about Periphery 1
Love Shogun. Easily one of my top albums of all time. Could have picked pretty much any track for the catchy chorus theme.
Not sure I agree regarding the mixing issue you bring up about the verses, but I've been jamming this for at least 10 years and it's all so ingrained now.
It's always interesting to hear a first take and a different viewpoint. Would love to see some more Trivium on the channel sometime.

I think you already checked out Shogun ( song ) by them, sould be time soon for their whole Shogun album ( 2008 actually ) or any album actually by them, one of my favs band, all master of their crafts. Certainly with their newest drummer since 2017, the last albums where he is on is so much peak Trivium, very rare to see a band that has been around so long hit their top so late into album cycles, with my favorite of the three being In the Court of The Dragon Album ( shadow of the abattoir is a must listen as well ) cheers! Good vid and analysis, the verse, refrein, verse 2 refrein2 and then Chorus is like a typicial Trivium thing it feels like
