    Much better video with the camera remotely mounted, it's much easier to watch without all the additional movement. Thank you.

    Dude, this is a good video.
    You always learn something new in every job and like you said it’s never a bad idea to take on a task that you don’t know. It really opens up your thought process. Thumbs up man.

    It would be interesting to see the follow-up if they paid you to rewire it correctly. I can't believe whoever installed the original gate just laid the control panel in the box like that! And even though the buried wire is low voltage, I'd be surprised if it didn't get damaged since it has no protection and runs across a parking lot.

    Rube Goldberg must have installed that mess. That mess should be totally removed and done professionally.

    How did the batteries get charged? Solar? Without a charging source they can only go for a few days MAX. Something is not adding up.

      That’s what I wanted to say. My guess there is another power source to the box.

    • @realSamAndrew
      @realSamAndrew Před 10 měsíci

      @@pixj7338 well whatever it is, it's not the case that it was running solely on batteries for so many months. There are undisclosed details about this repair so the video is inconclusive.

    Did you ever get power at the outlet ? A follow up video must be good ,if the company wanted you to rewire the gate opener.

    Great video. Because your in the box near building do some quick test like looking for shorts because no power from building. Disconnect wires test for short from box to gate then power to the building. A short would show up quickly.

    Ya batteries on a gate operated system is only there for emergencies like a power supply failure I.e if there was a fire in the building so the emergency service’s can get in without wasting time by cutting the gate open . As you should I would go with option one by having permanent supply at gate control panel . Great video Sir watching from the U.K.

      Gate opener(dc motor) actually utilizes battery for operation majority of the time from my understanding. Line voltage just keeps a constant charge on the battery.

    • @realSamAndrew
      @realSamAndrew Před rokem +4

      @@mamaswamma1234 not true. Maybe for some styles, but the ones I know have a DC inverter. The batteries are optional and only there for emergency backup.

    What kind of hokie setup was that?🤔 Whoever installed the parts in the junction box was obviously an amateur at best. You certainly had your hands full with this mess.
