  • Here is an encore trick that Doc Eason regularly performs at intimate house parties. This literally took more than a year to perfect. When this goes south, it goes south big time and there really isnt' any graceful way back. So getting this to a point where it worked more times than not, took some significant time. This shows much more about Doc than just the performance of a difficult trick.

    I rarely comment on anybody's comments regarding a great magician's performance, but (so here it comes) isn't the point of a performing art such as magic to entertain and bewilder? How much more magic is there than that?
    Very well done.

    Impressive! I believe it took a long time to perfect. I was doing the first part in my head and following along, but then you showed all the other suits grouped together too, insane! It had a chance to derail at the begining when a couple of cards went flying, it just added to the "no way" ending :-) Thanks for sharing Doc!

      lmao thats actually his head dude, just a crappy editing thing. i dont think that had anything to do with the trick, pretty sure the edit is only in there cause he messed up the trick lmao. this can be done in person and with a shuffled deck, or at least thats exactly how it would appear to you ;). the camera cuts and green screen is a big no no though... not sure why the hell he had camera cuts and stuff on a non live youtube video. kinda sus, but this effect could be done in real life without camera tricks.

      @finallight1061 Před 3 lety

      i honestly dont think that had anything to do with the trick dude lol. this can be done without any camera tricks trusttttttt me. theres prolly another object there he uses for a logo or overlay in his other videos. thats prolly another color sign or something that is keyed out in another color other than green. its called layering the green screen so you can do stuff in the editing portion.
      there is an obvious jump cut and camera angle shift towards the end reveal.... i believe this is in there because doc botched the trick and didnt wanna spend the time to do it all over again with the explanation and patter and etc. so instead he just redid everything up till that point, angle change and jump cut, and then the eye remembers how the table last looked after the jump cut. clever, but kinda BS... but he said himself its difficult and doesnt work evert time so lol

    • @finallight1061
      @finallight1061 Před 3 lety

      the editing is trash, you should never edit a magic video with cuts and changing the camera. i even hate when they do it on penn and teller fool us, its a cheap trick even if the magic is real and not a camera edit. its extremely suspect... but i know this trick can be done in person without video tricks. i think he might have actually fucked up the trick a little at some point so thats why you see the jump cut lmao. he says himself it was very difficult for him to learn, i think him saying that is part of the act though, the underlying trick is based on basic principles, but i can imagine it took him a long time to develop the trick into the effect he wanted the audience to experience. i dont believe the sleight of hand here was like OMG INSANE or anything like that, but he plays it up very well making it seem even more impossible. the editing sucked tho.

    The cards were prearranged THEN "shuffled". Then the guy looked at the bottom card of each "stack" before he placed them into stacks, thus putting the bottom card on top of the stack when he counted them. (Justin Credible taught a similar trick in Mag Rack ten years ago.)
    NO one does this trick like the Master, Ricky Jay.

  • @micahscanz
    @micahscanz Před 6 lety +2

    My guess as to how he does this is that he is a master card handler that has spent literally years learning how to feel and handle a deck of cards.
    His ability to cut a specific number of cards is not an illusion - it's card mastery. But that is probably the easy part.
    The hard part is mastering the ability to control a riffle shuffle. I think he uses a prepared deck that when shuffled a specific way always yields the same result. Once you master the ability to control the shuffle, the trick will always work. If my guess is accurate, it still is a tremendous card trick that requires far more skill than any sleight of hand I've seen.
    But then again, like 99% of those commenting on this video, I'm not a magician. The closest attempt to sleight of hand I can see is the slip-up on the pile of 3. But all that is is sleight of sound that was caused by accident. If you watch closely, there are clearly only three cards there.
    Nonetheless, it's a great trick performed by someone dedicated to his craft - a true Master.

    • @alexismandelias

    When I look at the deck as you show it face up, I notice that it doesn't look all that shuffled, I can spot the suits in ascending order to be already in that order and fairly close to each other, like the clubs for instance, you have the ace, then 3 cards, then the 2, 3, card, 4, card, 5, 6, 4 cards, 7, 8, 9, 10, card, Jack, card, Queen, card King.

  • @albertocogliati3593
    @albertocogliati3593 Před 4 lety +1

    My guess is that the cards are already in the right order needed to have the final outcome, and that the shuffle is a false shuffle, all things stay in position. The ability is to “feel” the number of cards to put into the individual stacks. Just my guessing.

    great presentation Doc... always kills me to see comments pointing out that you aren't a real wizard... lmao... We know there's no alchemy or dimension traveling going on so pointing out the obvious in an effort to appear intelligent only proves the opposite... Thanks for the video... Much success to you my friend.

    So why were there 4 cards in the "three" stack?

    • @DocEason
      @DocEason  Před 7 lety +1

      it was just a bobble.. honest.. there were really only 3 cards in the '3' pile

    • @davidwarren719
      @davidwarren719 Před 7 lety +1

      Well it's true that if there were, the math wouldn't work. Also upon reexamination I can see how it looks like you may have missed the second card--slipped through your fingers as it were. I believe you. We'll just say that you'd been recently practicing a certain sleight of hand--one that makes it appear as though you're counting cards as you place them on the table, when in reality no cards are leaving your hand, resulting in a never ending deck. We'll say you'd been practicing that, and the "3" stack was just a "Freudian slip" of sorts. :)

    A trick within the trick...at 1:25 Doc shows us the 4 of spades held between two clubs, so it is not on top or bottom of the 4 stack. Then while counting he reverses the stack order yet the 4 of spades gets to the top...well done.

  • @davegann4178
    @davegann4178 Před 5 lety +3

    The last time you pull the deck apart into two halves, after shuffling, I think that you may have used a "stripper deck". Hence your joke about being fully clothed? In this way, although you shuffled, you place the deck back in the original preset order.

  • @valentineepstein839
    @valentineepstein839 Před 8 lety +1

    Doc, this trick would look much more impressive if you took it with one continuous long shot. The fact that you keep switching angles, plans and even colors suggests that some manipulations take place between those changes. If you want to have a good impression - reshoot the video with one continuous shot.

    Check out the mirror (or person squatting under the desk ;) ) at 3:32-3:40. His arm gets cut off by the blurred "visual effects" at 3:56. But the trick was amazing none-the-less. :)

  • @alexismandelias
    @alexismandelias Před 4 lety

    Well it was shuffled but the un-shuffled by the cut you did. And that's why you into can shuffle the deck. Like stebbins stack order, your deck looks shuffled but it's actually prearranged. The only difficult move would be cutting precisely 2, 3, 4, ..., 9, 10 card packets and of course the precise shuffle
