That is incredible that he redid Jonathan's joke and made it better.
Aside from the fact that Gervais is hilarious, he truly enjoys good comedy himself even if it is his own roast. 4:11 is an example.
Gervais: "I am never doing this show again."
Ross: "I will hold you to that."
Look at that laugh. For him, a good joke is a good joke, even if it is his own roast. Other examples are his interviews with Letterman.

Two of my favorites celebrities. Both pull the piss out of celebrity and don't have filters which makes them so important especially Ricky and how he confronts and ridicules (presenting golden globes) their behavior and narcissistic tendencies. Long may they continue their missions.
They knock about "real life" too. They sat together next to me at a Morrissey gig along side Jimmy Carr and David Walliams.

I love Jonathan Ross and Ricky Gervais. I’ve been through quite a bit of hell and back here in the US and this show has definitely helped me get through I love British comedy.

Maybe it’s because I’m not too used to British TV, but the host actually seems genuine unlike all the American Late Night TV hosts who fake laugh and follow the teleprompter like their life depended on it.

I think they all have a fake laugh for those guests that aren't too funny or just to ease them in but Conan seems to have a genuine rapport with most his guests and let's them have their time (looking at Fallon). I'm a Brit

@@eldiego68 not sure how I omitted to mention Craig too. I binged hours of his show quite recently! But yeah, he is a Scot so Conan still stands as the US best (I haven't seen any of Carlson or Letterman though)

It really isn't. It's poorly written, forced, overly sentimental, clichéd and often unfunny. Derek was similarly poor. These shows are nowhere near the league of The Office or Extras. Ricky's work quality and writing has significantly declined since parting ways with Stephen Merchant.

At my Grandmothers funeral we arrived outside the church in the limo behind the coffin and as I stepped out stood in some dog shit …. After cursing and the Priest casting me a hard stare … I then followed the coffin scraping my foot on the ground trying to get the dog crap off my shoe …. With various people standing at the side waiting to go in behind the coffin wondering what the hell I was doing ! My grandmother would have been very amused I sat through the service imagining her laughing at me. 😊
