Something I forgot to mention when swapping out the Spartan Laser projectile. If you want it to look like how it's fired in the thumbnail, you'll need to swap out the AR's firing effect with that of the Spartan Laser's. Search for Firing Effects, then look for the spartan_laser\fx\firing.

I can't figure out how to make flight work in h3 using assembly. Do I need to use the world up flag? What about disabling the use player physics tag? Is there a key combo to enable I'm unaware of? Please .. fill me in. This is driving me nuts
Thanks bro, I'm currently making a Reach mod and the main things I'm interested in learning are model/shader recolouring, changing weapon spawn locations in campaign and changing what weapons AI spawn with. So I hope these are covered in the series.
I appreciate the detail that went into this. I thought I might note that when spawning non-projectiles from weapons, the Crate Projectile tagref is more suited for this purpose; to give an example, go into a Custom Game and use the Projectile to spawn a biped and see what happens when you kill it.
I was always interested in Halo mods, but after I've seen and played your Reach campaign I was even more gungho about it, slowly teaching myself the ropes and whatnot, so seeing that you'll actually be having regular videos of teaching Assembly will be of great help because I'm sure there are stuff I'm missing. Keep up the great work!

On the topic of saving and keeping backups of your modified map files, I honestly think the most full proof method is to use GitHub or another similar code repository site. This automatically backups every version of the map file you upload so you can easily retrieve older versions if you need.
To be honest, no matter how good Assembly is and how many games we have in MCC, we still have a shitty UI, no SDK or official tools, and we can't use modded maps in matchmaking. I wish I could mod my own skins and look of the games and go into matchmaking with EAC on. I am 100% sure modding maps does not affect gameplay in matchmaking because we are not the host. And not to mention we have no server browser or anything too, so good luck playing your modded multiplayer maps. I also imagine the server browser they promised probably doesn't allow custom content.
@@TheHutDave Not really, I don't see 343i giving us the option to host modded custom maps as new ones, with a system that auto downloads the map when you join the server. Also I think we won't be able to host our own dedicated servers.... So what's the point of it all

Just unlock & enable leftover content in a mod & invite us that are on console or go to someone else hosting from pc with no active anti-cheat enabled ... and than save all the map & game types to your xbox file share for everyone.

Idk if you still view these comments but I found out how to get active camo always active for the player in the “hlmt” or “model” category on assembly. The problem is that it only works in old graphics for halo 2 and no matter what graphics I’m in the enemies still notice me. Do you know how to fix this? In halo 2? I really just want to be invisible for a whole level and it just doesn’t work.

Hey Vadam, did you have issues with the shotgun when making Reach Evolved? Because I've made a few changes to it for a multiplayer mod I'm working on and it doesn't work properly unless the host is using it. When other players use the shotgun it has no accuracy under any circumstances, to the point where a friend of mine had shots landing behind her while we were play testing. Any idea what could be causing something like that? Or how I could fix it?
@@TheVengefulVadam I increased a few of the "Weapon Aim Assist" stats, "Projectiles Per Shot" and (the only thing I can think of that could be the issue) gave it an Error Angle of 2.5 min / 3.5 max. Everything else is unchanged.
@@connoraber7781 Test these separately: 1. Try having the error angle values be the exact same. 2. Set the projectile count back to normal. 3. Revert the aim assist value tweaks back to normal. This should help narrow down what’s causing the desync issue. I think it could be the error angle, as well. The shotgun doesn’t typically use different min/max values because it takes too long between shots to go from min to max. Something funky might be happening there, but I don’t know for certain.

Have you seen my Architect scenario editor tool? It makes setting up custom maps much easier but currently only supports Halo 3.

When loading a map file in assembly it tells me my engine version is not supported even though everything is up to date.
