@@tiredtortoise3396 I also do Nuzlocks for fun, and one rule is to nick Pokemons, so yeah. But also in my casual playthroughs now, I enjoy nicknaming them especially if there's a theme.
@@shiro7274 THIS! I thought that since Ash and the others didn’t nickname them, it was sort of wrong to do so. Than I saw that everyone in the manga named them, and I realized how much better it felt.

When I saw Mumei's Paul, I thought the Chimchar was named after Paul from the old Diamond/Pearl anime. I was like, "man that's so touching and well thought out". Nope, it's just "Hai I'm Paul" XD

Also as an old fire pokemon trainer myself it warms my heart that the little monkey got so much love.
Poor Chimchar got reduced to a gameplay option because of the old Diamond and Pearl games' absurd lack of fire types in early game.
The editing in this video is so good.
I've always been impressed with the editing in your holoEN minecraft videos. You take different streams and viewpoints and end up creating a concise and cohesive retelling of past events. These stories would have been difficult to see in their entirety if someone doesn't watch each and every stream, or would have an incomplete understanding if only watching multiple short clips. Most of those stories have a chronology to them, with one person's actions on their server affecting them or others in the future, with some segments of interaction between members.
What I find impressive about this video is that it consists of 13 different views, with each person acting and reacting independently from the others (except for Kiara partially making her choice based on Calli), all on the same events in the same game. I can only imagine how difficult it was to catalogue the interesting parts, while grouping the similar bits, while also keeping the flow. Gura, Fauna, Mumei, Ina, and Ame's uncertainty on which pokemon is in which ball, transitioning to Gura, Bae, and Ame going eeny, meeny, miny, moe was smooth and coherent. While others are shown making cute noises while trying to decide, those are spread out to give a more even sense of presence. During the segment when everyone is choosing the nicknames, the members are grouped by which pokemon they chose, but within that section things are spliced and reordered to give a better sense of buildup and payoff. It would have been easier to show everyone's reactions to each thing one at a time, like how compilations for jumpscare reactions in horror games are done, but you've opted for something more nuanced. The flow is smooth.
I enjoy all the videos you make, but this stood out to me because afterwards I thought "I watched a 16 minute video about 13 girls doing 2 things: picking and naming a pokemon, and it was fun to watch the entire time". Thank you.

Here's the pros with each starter (stating from experience)
Chimchar is really great. Fire Types are always a good starter because 1.) They're strong and 2.) They're kinda rare. Infernape has ridiculously strong offense and pretty ok defense.
Piplup is also great. Can easily sweep the first gym. Empoleon is also really strong offense, and pretty decent defense. But water types are common. Floatzel and Gyrados are easily found.
Turtwig is a fu**ing tank. Torterra just so f**king bulky late game. His attacks are also great, and could also sweep first gym.
Suggestion: Chimchar, because Infernape rules
In d/p fire type is more rare than the other type tho, so getting infernape is more prefeable than the other 2, but i still love torterra tho
@@seasnow6073 It's not even that, chimchar evolves into a fire fighting type (amazing combo) early on with great speed/atk, so he basically sweeps Roark (1st gym), Gardenia (2nd gym), Byron (6th gym), Candice (7th gym) and Aaron (first elite 4 member) while also being able to potentially outspeed Cynthia's entire team and destroy her roserade and lucario
Great analysis, Turtwig is my go to starter in Sinnoh cause he's been my favorite since I played the OG Diamond. I've always given him the nickname Deku.
@@mic6346 Yeah, Infernape is good for Cynthia, but I still prefer the X Speed and X Attack strat on Garchomp, it's broken af.
With high speed stats, Infernape can both wipe out Empoleon and Torerterra easily. Torterra is tanky but slow af, while Empoleon is a glass cannon against type disadvantages.
You can tell how familiar they are with the series by the way they reacted to the briefcase lmao!

You know its bad when the sheer lack of fire type pokemon in this game influences your starter choice
And also notice how a lot of the girls take HM learnability into account. Really makes you realise how shit of a system HMs were.
None of these things should influence your starter choice as its your the first pokemon you pick for your journey.
Im really glad these issues were generally fixed in the newer games
Even back when HMs were a thing, it was never really a good idea to put them on your starter, with the exception of a few good ones like surf.

I was surprised chimchar wasn't the popular option tbh. His evolution is literally monkey Goku + lack of fire types in game.

Sinnoh *lacked* Fire-types. However, BDSP introduced the Grand Underground so that's less of an issue now since you can catch other Fire-types... like a freaking *Houndoom* (that's right, not even a Houndour, but its evolution right out the gate) just before the Grass gym.
But here's the thing, you also have Steel-types (like Empoleon) and Fighting-types to counter those pesky Ice-types en route to Snowpoint and Spear Pillar. Ice is a bad defensive typing since it only resists itself and has multiple weaknesses.
You most likely have a Flying-type to counter Grass-types and Bug-types, too. This leaves Steel enemies, which also gets taken care by Ground (Torterra!) and Fighting Pokémon.
It's not like Fire-types are a necessity.
Major Ice-type threats in-game get rekt by their dual typing weakness anyway, i.e: Mamoswine with its Fighting and Water weakness; and Froslass is weak to Dark and Ghost. Weavile is part Dark and gets absolutely wrecked by Bug, Fairy, and Fighting moves.
Infernape is hella great though. Definitely has one of my favourite Fire starter designs.

From my experience, grass starter is on the left, fire middle, and water right in every game. (I’ve played HeartGold, ORAS, Black, Sun and Ultra Sun, and Brilliant Diamond.)
Mumei has the most solid backstory for her nickname.
My very first starter Pokemon was a squirtle in Pokemon Blue.

Objectively chimchar is the best due to the lack of fire type variety in Sinnoh, and more gyms are weak to fire/fighting, second your rival would pick piplup which ends up being a water/steel Empoleon, being weak to fighting

I might be wrong but I really feel like this gen was the first to not have the grass starter get instantly shit on by everybody. Ik Infernape is more desirable than the others because of the lack of fire types. But I feel like a lot of us who said fuck it, gimme the turtle, realized late game (elite 4, Battle Tower), that Torterra has mad coverage and is the literal definition of a tank. Everyone I knows simps and loves Snivy. Also I know many who love Bulbasaur, though he is less popular by a long shot to the other 2.
@@eddardblackhart6305 The Bulbasaur line is excellent in Kanto though. It covers Brock, Misty, Giovanni and much of Lorelei and Bruno, as well as tanking STAB from Erika and Surge. It has balanced stat distribution, solid defensive typing, as well as a decent pool of support moves like Growth, Sleep Powder, Synthesis, and Leech Seed.
And historically, it’s the best of the Kanto starters in terms of competitive too. It’s Chlorophyll ability, paired with decent bulk and special attack, makes it a very competent sun sweeper.
Chikorita… yeah it’s pretty bad. Very cute tho.

Happy my boy chimchar in the end got the most picked and with it being the best starter of the 3 do to good offensive stats/moves/type and fire types are stupidly rare and and happens to be good type and so is fighting and the only good non post-game fire type is infernape rapidash has a bad move pool/mediocre stats and evolves way to late at lvl 40 so also mix with good alternative water/steel/grass and ground types if it weren't for the other 2 being great and having great designs it would be a no brainer.
This is completely unrelated but I realised Calli never wears her old outfit anymore, and Ina never wears her new outfit, only on drawing streams

TURTWIG is not the turtle pokemon because warturtle is already the turtle pokemon.
I pass the pkmn platinum almost three times, and the fire tipe is almost useless in a team. For coveture is fine have flamethrower, fire fang, etc, but have a fire tipe in the team where almost ALL important trainers have someting to hurt is very rough xd

Just in case, I can't decide what starter to choose for this kind of game. I make sure to buy two set of the game ( pearl and diamond , etc ...) So whenever the game start, I can have all the starters, no fuzz and regret, and make it more easier for me to complete the pokédex if I want to.. the only pokédex I completed are FireRed and Black.

So, with talks about a possible Pokémon tournament between the girls in the Future, what are your guys thoughts on who's gonna Win? I personally think people that have Said they dont have a Lot of experience with the game are less likely to win, so Kiara, Gura, Ame, Bae and Fauna. IRyS I'm not so sure, since she is someone that loses Focus easily, that could be something that hinders her in a tournament. I havent watched much of Ollie and Reine, but since Ollie was playing a Nuzlocke, I'm sure she has some experience, more then most of the girls. Since I'm not aware of How well Reine is doing, I'm not gonna count her out but I'm not going to put her among the favorites, who imo, are Ina, Calli, Ollie, Kronii, Mumei and the biggest favorite Sana. I know Sana has a Lot of experience compared to the other girls, and she has a clear strategy with her Togekiss (anyone who has played competitively against a Togekiss Will know the pain), but I could easily see someone like Kronii ir Mumei picking a Mon that counters Sana Twave Serene Grace strategy. It Will all depend on who spends the most amount of time breeding and crafting another team for the possible Future torunament, and Mumei hás already said she's up to do that. But what do you guys think?

@@DBT1007 she admitted she hasn't played any Nuzlocke before and doesn't have much knowledge about setting up a sweep. Even the moveset of her team are all offensive attacks. As for competitive battles, only Kronii and Sana has experience. Meanwhile, Calli is more careful about nature and IVs. Ina is a casual player being handed the winning strats by the chat.
If Sana doesn't change her team or use any legendary during the battle, Calli or Kronii might have a chance. Otherwise, it will be a massacre. Even on the JP side, only Shion can tough out her Togekiss and Infernape
@@eddardblackhart6305 I mean, I feel as though that Mumei also has a good chance, since she Said she Will be breeding for IVs and good Natures. Their in game teams might not matter a whole Lot, I only say about Sana's Togekiss because she Said she wants to use one. But there are counter to It, ground and electric types are immune to Twave and Air Slash is not Very effective against electric types. What will matter in the end, is the team composition for the tournament, and How hard they'll grind for good Natures and IVs

There is also the factor of being underleveled when they finally fight, instead of just EV training whatever Pokemon they have on their team. Although they haven't announced the date yet, I doubt it would be so far ahead and that means shorter time for those who hasn't yet defeated the League to prepare
@@eddardblackhart6305 A Lot of them will be on breaks this month, and yes, those breaks Will be to enjoy their families and the holidays, but they could also play during some time during their breaks. I only say that there are people who are going to breed and EV train because Mumei Said she would do It, and she's almost done with the main game. Sana and Kronii are probably going to do it as well, but Kronii has less time since she started later than the other girls. I know they dont have a lot of time, they are busy, but since at least Mumei mentioned she wants to do it, it's a big factor to put into consideration. And about the tournament, Kiara mentioned this but I'm not 100% sure it's going to be the case, the one that was already announced but doesnt have a data is a JP only tournament, and Kiara Said she wants to do one with the EN and the ID girls, that's I didnt mention any JP members. Forgot to say that. But that also means the JP tournament is probably going to be this month, but the EN x ID could be later. And the level thing is a not that big of a Deal since they're probably going to cap it at 50, and EXP with the broken Exp Share in the remake and the exp scaling BDSP have, It doesnt take that long to level mons up to level 50, depending on where they train. But than again, I only know Mumei wants to breed and EV train, she might be the only one
