Jeremy Strong Talks 'Succession' Season 4 | Entertainment Weekly
/ ew - Zábava
My number one boy
I love how he describes things. He has so clearly put in all the work for his character and it's shown since season 1. I want his other cast mates to get recognized but I would not be mad if he won again, he's outstanding
"im rooting for Kendall to get what he wants" we all are, king😔
Honestly his acting skills awed me. One of the mains reasons I got into this show was how high quality the acting in this show felt. Kendall feels like a living breathing complex person and I am so happy we were/are part of his journey.
Jeremy deserves so much praise. He's definitely one of the best actors in Hollywood right now.
"Two thousand and whatever year it is right now"
He really lives in his head
5:40 “in two thousand and whatever year it is right now” ? lol
Mood.
“two thousand and whatever year it is right now” - a very Kendall Roy thing that Jeremy Strong could say
Such an intelligent and honest man. So refreshing seeing an actor talk like this.
Jeremy Strong is such a genuine, well spoken, thoughtful, intellegent and above all honest person. Superb actor!
Big inspiration to me as an actor and seems like a genuinely kind and thoughtful person. I cannot wait for the season premiere!
I love the polar opposite oddball energy of Kendall and Jeremy, both strange and wonderful and deserving of all the hugs
I found succession this year and immediately binged all 3 seasons and at the end of the last episode I ran it back to beginning and watched all 3 seasons all over again. I have never done that with a show ever before. Just finished my 3rd watch through in anticipation of S4 and I have tremendous respect for all the actors and everyone who makes this show, but especially Jeremy Strong. What an absolute legend!
I’m similar. Only- I watched the show a year ago. Took time away (for mental health reasons), came back STRONG and rewatched with new eyes and had a completely different experience. I’ve now seen the entire show 4 times all the way through. Season 4 can’t come soon enough 😭
I did the exact same. What a show!
Same here! Started & finished my first watch through this past fall, then immediately started again because it was just so amazing. Truly one of a kind.
it's actually great to re-watch it bc it's a new experience each time as you see all the angles
Same
He’s so intense. And I love it.
Succession is really operatic. And to describe Kendall as an anti-hero is so correct. When HBO re-broadcast the first three seasons, I watched them all all again. The last episode of the second season blew me away, when Kendall (temporarily) becomes a "killer" is amazing. Just amazing. This guy's face shows all the emotions someone like Kendall would be experiencing. Such a great show.
Great love and respect for Jeremy over here in the UK for his Shakespearean level of acting. A modern day Hamlet in Kendal
me and my gf met him in Croatia when they was filming season 2. Great memories
i am obsessed with the way he talks and sees things
He definitely pulled my heart strings. Looking forward to this season.
I was really rooting for Kendall. I felt so much empathy for his character and I relate to constantly flying too close to the sun and then having the rug pulled out from under me.
i can spend hours listening to him talking about anything
I could see him becoming a Christian Bale-level actor in the coming years. I hope he picks good projects.
A highly intelligent actor ❤
2:49 brilliant take for an actor to bow out; I agree wholeheartedly Kendall’s circling the drain has worn a bit thin and he needed a wrap up soon
Kendall's arc hasn't worn thin for me personally, but I would have gotten there if they had made a 5th season. I'm glad the showrunners knew when to end things, and it gives me faith that they'll stick the landing this season (not that I doubted that before - Succession is on another level).
He’s the best actor of my generation. Jermey is amazing.
5:30
Am I getting this right? Is he saying there's a 32 minute SEAMLESS take? Because that would be insane...
Right?! There's never been anything like that in Succession. Something beautiful is coming, Sunday can't get here soon enough...
I’d imagine that will be edited and cut down significantly, surely they can’t air a 32 minute continuous take of one scene.
@@PaulTraces Mr Robot did a full hour episode in one take (obviously with sneaky edits) but yeah, it’s definitely possible
I was amazed at that as well!! I didn't know they shot on film either
@@PaulTraces if he mentioned it, then we can expect it, i think he means it's on the show, full 32 minutes scene
I can’t believe he’s doing a voice for Kendall, he really goes all out
Hope he gets more roles when he's ready. Love to watch his work.
Enjoy his time as a Dad ..they are only young once..
He stans his dad, so he is alive and well.
we all need a Kendal win this season.
So don’t let him see this comment- but I do understand why he wants to end Kendall’s story because even when he’s talking here, I could see Kendall coming through once or twice. But Kendall’s not real - Jeremy is, and he seems like such an honest, intelligent, and earnest person.
I'm not sure if Kendall is coming through, or if it's just that him and Kendall are very similar to begin with. He's talked about it in other interviews, how he was initially reluctant to play him because they're so similar. He says Kendall's voice, energy and characterization are all the same as his so he can't really "hide" while playing him and that's frightening and difficult sometimes.
If Jeremy is saying this about Kendall, really looks like they land the plane on this whole show really well. He seems like the type of guy to where if he didn't feel that, he wouldn't say it.
This guy is so cool
“I advocated before now, that it should be done for Kendall.”
Did that blow anyone else’s mind????? Am I the only one who assumes he means death???! Did Jeremy want Kendall to actually die in the pool????? Noooo 🤯😭
5 minutes later: okay I’ve thought about it. And he’s completely right for saying that. “There’s only so much catharsis and tragedy that a character can undergo before there’s nowhere left for them to go…” It makes sense for Kendall to not have made it out of S3. And as heartbreaking as that is to admit, it’s the truth. But (selfishly) I’m so grateful they didn’t kill him 🥲
He just means his arc. He's not saying he wants Ken to die, though that is one potential conclusion to his arc. There's no story in just making a character fail and suffer over and over again, there needs to be some kind of resolution, especially considering Kendall is essentially the antihero protagonist of the series.
@@sparkleclover thank you for the reassurance 😅
This feels like a Buddhist Zen lecture
Hey Budda, nice Tom Fords
@@oreticencias 😂
I can see this dude was cast for this role the same reason F. Murray Abraham was cast to play Salieri in Amadeus: The character onscreen and the actor offscreen are one and the same.
❤❤❤❤
Kendall is magnetic.
well he just pretty clearly implied that kendall doesn’t die
Kendall is a weasel - however, Jeremy is kind of hot! I'm conflicted!
"Whatever year it is right now..."??!!
All I see is the Barry episode
Would love Ken as CEO, Roman COO, Frank Chairman (as Frank has always been good to Ken and more honest than the balance). Shiv can have some role if she wants to get her NPD taken care of. Lukas can go tweet for a living. Gerri stays as GC. Karl can kick around as CFO for comedy impact. Carolina just keeps doing what she does, which seems to be glorified nothing. Tom and Greg go co-run Living+ and have a little bro home there on site for 24/7 Waystar attention. Greg can date some Crunchy Peanut Butter gal living at the compound. Kerry can have some role as a late late late night weather girl. Marcia can go run some military camp. Oh, and Jess! That girl deserves an honorary seat on the Board for all of the craziness she has endured.
Great actor but didn’t even know what year it was!
He also famously forgot his age in Mark Maron's podcast 😂
Who will become Logan 2.0?
Jeremy Strong does not know what year it is
My god he’s just like his character Kendall Roy lmao
God, I hope not 😂
He's a method actor apparently, and it sounds like he gets quite nervous in interviews
I can't help but notice that Jeremy almost always wears brown for press events...
Dude, he’s intense. Is he INFJ?
that "scene" he talks about... that long scdne is Logan's death =(
Cool interview, but the fact that he doesn't know what year it is gives me pause.
He's the reason I haven't watched it.
He looks like Nick kroll
Jeremy Strong played Kendall Roy perfectly, but I wonder if this method actor ever just relaxes like a normal person. He's always totally wound up in interviews. He's way too intense. I mean I wouldn't want him at my dinner party, because he just wouldn't be fun. He has to bring his vibe down three notches or so. In any case, Succession is my favorite show so I will be watching on Sunday! 😉
every time he talks about his three children you can see him relax and lighten up. some artists are just very invested in their craft
sarah snook and jessica chastain and Arian Moayed have said that jeremy is actually a fun friend to be get along with.
What makes you think he's the same in dinner parties as he is in interviews?
He would method act as a person who is enjoyable and engaging at dinner parties
Judging by the amount of interviews he ever did I think he’s just not a fan of interviews overall. There are some brilliant actors who get pretty shy in front of journalists
I love how Brian cox cuts his shit down.
he is clearly talking weird here...probably shoooting something...
Don’t know about that, but he usually talks like this. At least in most interviews I believe.
the fuck
He always talks like this. Rich vocabulary and he's pretty knowledgeable on a lot of topics compared to typical Hollywood actor.
He has habit of getting deep and philosophical with precise words.
Agree, but I was talking more like his voice, he has some kind of different accent…or maybe it’s just me 😂
My daughter shared HBO with us. We watched Succession. All 39 episodes. I thought it was terrible and disturbing. I’m not sure Jeremy Strong can play any other character other than Kendall. Kendall is Jeremy Strong. I think he’s typecast now. He’s so depressing to watch.
