  • A historic race that will be remembered by the Indians for many years to come. Will be interesting to see whether achievements like this inspire the subcontinent to take up a more diverse interest in sport, rather than just sticking to cricket.

      Stop blaming cricket for everything that's wrong with Indian athletics. Indian Cricket us run by a highly efficient body called BCCI. If the Sports Authority of India, Athletics Federation of India and other bodies can measure up to BCCI then there's some hope. Otherwise Indian's don't stand a chance.

      @nanditdesai3384 Před 5 lety

      @@BIKRAMSINGH-wx9xy agreed. But one cannot deny that Indians are not yet world class. As far as Asian timings are concerned, we've done well so far. But a relay team that runs an average split of 52+ seconds compared to an international standard split of 49-50 seconds is embarrassing. Lot of work still needs to be done. If their training stints in Turkey and other countries don't help them improve as we saw in the recently concluded Asian championship, a major strategic overhaul is imminent.

    This race, I think one of the Aussies had to pull out due to injury and they had no other 400m runner to fill the spot, and they would have had to forfeit their spot in the final. Sally is 110 metre hurdler and is a decent 100 metre runner too. She has NEVER trained for 400m but she filled in because they asked her to. It's like asking someone like Asafa Powell to run 400m for their country even though they've never trained for any other distance over 110m. It's why they kept talking about her. The fact she stepped in for the team even though they know her body is not physically conditioned to run such a distance shows how much balls she has, how much of a team player she is, and how much she loves her country.
    And it is also an Australian commentary team designed for an Australian audience obviously. Go find an Indian commentary team designed for an Indian audience to listen to and watch if you don't like what you hear.
