actually it was the result of poor programming. If you ever used a game engine. you can accidentally very easily recreate this issue if you code your physics unproperly. That is why many fan games have similar issues.

Growing up in the 80s, I had a bunch of hidden gems that I didn't really appreciate.
My aunt/family would get me cheap games like Crystal Palace and Quantum fighter for holidays/birthdays and while I loved them... when I traded up to the SNES, I got rid of them all.
Now I am desperately looking for the games I loved as a kid.

This game is known as Matendouji in Japan, and I remember this game in a 4-in-1 bootleg cartridge which also includes Super Spy Hunter and Sword Master. Apparently the one in the bootleg that I had has the status bars glitched in the second level. The Matendouji one has a translation patch btw. Whoa, this brings back memories! I remember playing this game a lot when I was a kid, but I haven’t even thought about it in over 25 years. I actually owned it. My parents were cheap as hell, so 80% of my games were less well-known games they’d get from the clearance bin for $10-20. I had some real duds like Spy vs Spy and Caveman Games. But I had a few true hidden gems like this one. Another gem I had was Shingen the Ruler, which turned out to be one of my top 3 NES games of all time (along with FF1 and Castlevania 2).

It really was a pvp game.

I can’t believe I never heard of this one! Thanx for the video, looks like a dope game. You my friend just earned a new subscriber.

Oh wow, I actually had mentioned fairly recently in one of your previous videos to check this game out if you hadn't already, small world lol.

I always wanted this game, ended up getting it cib from a palm springs goodwill in 2008 for 5.00. I love how the dog has his own armor. Like rush in mm3.

The only other game I've seen with a jump like that is... A game I'm actually building. I just recently found a glitch that does exactly that same thing: drops you like a rock when you attack in the air. I'll get it fixed soon, but still, I found it amusing that this was mentioned in a video almost the day after I find that bug.

I was the only person I knew who had this game in the NES days. No one had heard of it! What a shame. Underrated gem for sure... it did a lot of things differently, but did them all right.

I actually DO remember this game getting reviewed, in Video Games and Computer Entertainment. The reviewer mentions, rather pointedly, that Kim is so unpredictable that she's practically schizophrenic. And while I personally am not a fan of dogs, I do like dog sidekicks in video games. Galford is a must every time I play Samurai Shodown!

I love it when you do an NES game on here. And this one is really interesting and worth checking out. Awesome!

Oooh I actually had this on the NES. Tough game, but there were cheat codes that helped make the game easier.
Not walk through beatable but easier.

Sweet game, sweet review! I didn't know this was the Orge Battle/FF Tactics guy, that's awesome!

This one sounded awfully familiar. So, I looked up in my journal of all the games I've beat and sure enough... I've beat this game. Can't say I remember it though.
Thanks for the reminder and for the video!

I rented this game when I was a little kid. Once. Never could find it again or remember the name. Until recently.

I saw this in Nintendo Power and found it for rent. I used an invincibility code (because that's what NP had to say about it), but then got stuck on some level that just kept me going in circles. I don't think I even touched it on the last day of rental, I was so frustrated. I should revisit it - cause before the getting stuck part, it was a lot of fun!

This game was awesome, I got it back on my NES by chance at a flee market. It turned out to be one of my favorite games growing up 😎

Oh man, do I have nostalgia for this game. My cousin use to own it, and gave his copy to me when he got rid of all of his NES stuff. Of course, being the little kid that I was, I was never able to get past the 2nd stage then. But still! Those first two stages! And the bits that I saw of the third stage from the game’s demo mode!
Also, is it just me, or are the shopkeeper’s arms kinda weird? Something about how they’re positioned...that always bothered me as a kid.

Kim looks kinda cute. It's interesting seeing anime styled pixel art, especially on the NES
