    Good information. I use poly fill on one of my heavily stocked tanks and gets full pretty quick. Thx as always Dan ❤

    I bought a big bag of poly fil for 5 bucks. I put a handful or so of it in my Fluval HOB under my Bio Media bag (if not it has tendency to float around!). Works wonderful and inexpensive.

    Polishing pad should be the last stage for the filter. I run Polishing pads in my Fluval 207 last stage, I change it every 2 weeks to a month. Plus your filter does not really force water through strong enough. To many places for it to go around.

    Yeah for sure Dan, I've used these before and do work well but yes they clog very fast. 👍

    You should place the polishing pad behind a filter floss. Then it won't clog up as quickly.

    I think it depends on the Filter. On my Aquaclear 50 I use the stock coarse sponge, 3 layers of aquarium Polyfiber from Deep Blue and over it Fluval Polishing pad for the 307/407 canister filter which works also well in the aquaclear 50. Then the bio media bag over the polishing pad. That polishing pad lasts me around 3 to 4 months as it can be easily rinse under pressure and reuse. The Sponge and Polyfiber been more coarse last me much more with proper rinsing. No issues at all.

    It did do a great job of making the water clear so that was interesting. But yeah, not really worth the hassle unless you were going to take a photo for a contest or something like that.

    It’s only because of the filter your using. Aqua
    Clear do not clog in one day

    • @janicelundberg1956
      @janicelundberg1956 Před rokem +1

      I use Aqua Clear and filter floss on every one of them. It depends on how stocked your tanks are. It doesn’t literally block the filter flow it just overflows on the intake. I have one heavily stocked tank and the poly fill gets gunked up pretty quick. It also depends on how fine the floss/batting is as well. I love the Aqua Clear because you can hot rod it anyway you like.

    • @fishtropiccanada4747
      @fishtropiccanada4747 Před rokem +1

      I agree , but dans tanks are far from over stocked. The floss he is using is more tighter. If you buy actual batting in the rolls. That floss does it job for like 3 weeks and you just change it. Pre filters also add life to your floss.
