Dividend investing is an investment strategy focused on building a portfolio of stocks that consistently pay dividends. A dividend is a distribution of a portion of a company's earnings to its shareholders, usually in the form of cash or additional shares. Investors who follow the dividend investing approach prioritize companies with a history of stable and growing dividend payments.
Here are some key aspects of dividend investing:
1. Steady Income Stream: One of the primary advantages of dividend investing is the generation of a steady income stream. Dividend-paying stocks provide investors with regular cash payments, which can be particularly attractive for those seeking income, such as retirees.
2. Long-Term Wealth Growth: While the immediate income is a significant benefit, dividend investing is also viewed as a strategy for long-term wealth growth. Reinvesting dividends allows investors to take advantage of compound growth, as they purchase more shares with each dividend payment.
3. Historical Stability: Companies that consistently pay dividends often have a history of financial stability and profitability. These companies are generally mature and have a proven track record of managing their finances well.
4. Dividend Yield: Dividend yield is a key metric in dividend investing. It is calculated by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock price. A higher dividend yield can indicate a more attractive investment in terms of income generation, but investors should also consider the sustainability of the dividend.
5. Dividend Aristocrats: Some investors specifically target "Dividend Aristocrats," which are companies that have a history of increasing their dividends for a certain number of consecutive years. These companies are often considered more reliable and resilient, as they have demonstrated a commitment to returning value to shareholders.
6. Sector Considerations: Different sectors have varying propensities for paying dividends. For example, utility and consumer goods companies are often known for their consistent dividends, while technology companies may reinvest more of their profits into research and development.
7. Tax Considerations: Dividend income is generally taxed at a lower rate than interest income. This can be advantageous for investors in terms of tax efficiency, depending on their overall financial situation.
8. Risk Considerations: While dividend investing is often associated with lower risk due to the stability of dividend-paying companies, it's essential to recognize that all investments carry some level of risk. Economic downturns or shifts in a specific industry can impact a company's ability to maintain or increase its dividend.
In summary, dividend investing is a strategy that appeals to those seeking a combination of regular income and long-term growth. It requires careful consideration of a company's financial health, historical dividend performance, and the investor's overall financial goals and risk tolerance.

bro you are wrong in this calculation , let me take powergrid and ioc into consideration. few years back i bought IOC they gave bonus shares and now my share price average is 65rs, has a capital appreciation of 30rs and it give 6 rs as dividend until now which is 9%. let me show the same case for powergrid before bonus in this year i had 24 stocks at average of 196 after bonus my avg price is 146 and dividend itself is around 12rs a year which is 8.2%. Nifty dividends oppurtunities calculate based on current price with current share value but eventually all govt companies split the share values (since govt needs cash which its been taken out from these companies)

I had one doubt
Planning to invest in Nippon India index bees and gold bees and mon100 NASDAQ
So let say get return 15% annual.for compounding effect that annual 15% should reinvested right like every year.
So In zerodha how it will work should I reinvest my profits or it will automatically do ?
Example if I invested 1000 rs one year got annual return of 15% so my investment will be now 1150 so next year it will start 1150 right for compounding interest.
I'm asking tenure for reinvestment my profits?
Please clarify my doubts cause I'm planning to invest huge amount

@finance boosan, bro for example company called x has informed record date for high dividend, can I buy in bulk 2 days before and exit as soon as I get the dividend? So that before fall in exitting right? Will there be any impact due to dividend in the stock that particular day itself?
Yes it's a trap if you buy for dividend take example iocl gave 5 rs dividend when share price was 89
Stock prise rose to 102 before the record date and people who bought at the price of 102 or 98 will be sitting in loss because the 5 rs is deducted from the share price on record date on 10 nov 23.
The stock price was down to 97.5 rupees.
Those who bought in bulk have to wait for price to rise or come out in loss after the record date. You can't get profit and dividend at same time
So what you can do
Buy high dividend stocks at the date of their board meeting of directors action date so the Annocument of dividend will rise the price and you can exit in profit after record date and get dividend.
No one will say this tricks
@@rajes1991 , bro how will I know about their board meeting and announcement date in before, Is there any trustable source or what do you suggest or prefer?
How will I get to know whether it's general board meeting or the meeting is for dividend announcement? Please answer

Bro I am a salaried employee my salary is 4lakh/yr and this year I booked 4 lakh capital gain this year. Now I have one doubt for much I want to pay tax . for only 4 lakh capital . or govt consider 4+4 8 lakhs and I need pay tax for 8 lakhs. please clarify ...
0 tax for ur salary and
First 1 lac is exempted in capital gain
U need to pay tax for remaining 3 lac
If it is LTCG means 10% of 3L
And if it is STCG means 15 % tax
Bro BOND la 20 lac invest panni AVG ya 12% yearly income varamatheri pana yearly 2,40,000 varum athu monthly 20,000 thousand equal aagum ithu nalla idea va bro

Bro epadi ELSS la investment pannarathu, eantha app best for this, why zerodha app not available in play store
Zerodha has 2 apps: Kite and Coin.
Kite is for stock investments, and Coin is for mutual fund investments.
@@finance.boosan Thank you for your information... Which one app is best for ELSS like Ange, grow etc. I watched ur video about ELSS . U invest ELSS for tax reduction purpose. Please explain about that.
For the return of Rs.10000/- after TDS, investment of Rs.80 lakhs is looking irrational.
There are various other investment sources, where one can yield more returns for the same investment.
Ya this example is dumb
Dividends are merely a byproduct of his portfolio; his primary focus wasn't even on the dividends. He achieved a capital appreciation of 12% or more in a year. This video aims to underscore the amount of capital required to sustain a living solely through dividends, disregarding capital appreciation.

@@thalapathyhari9786 in these days 80 lakhs is normal money broo 😅😅.... for example my frnd has 50 acres of land in hometown worth 7.5 crore (minimum 15 lakhs sell agum as of today ) but he is working in TCS for 25k salary

Dividends are not his intention; he made more than 12% annually from the capital appreciation of the stocks. He primarily invests for stock appreciation, and dividends are more of a byproduct. The example in the video highlights the size of capital one must have to live off dividends completely.
