I've heard comedians say that the audience will give you 1 or 2 jokes and laugh at whatever comes out of your mouth. That first guy took all the good graces of the crowd and pissed all over them in the first words out of his mouth.
I go to a lot of small shows, and Iâm an easy laugh. I hate seeing someone give up or totally boot it. Iâm a comedy fan, I want to like these people, and I want them all to do well.
Thatâs my baseline level with everyone, and they almost all knock themselves down for one reason or another.

I think people that show their interest, are genuine about it or that are genuinely nervous and it comes as wanting to but nerves hold back, Tony can sense that. Heâs been doing it consistently for so long Iâm sure his reading skills for that kind of thing are great.
But at times I think he gets the job done by roasting someone if they show some sort of disrespect or lack of concern for the show. I remember one woman got up and she said âI thought itâd be funâ but thatâs not this show and tbh, thatâs what I think he means when he says about timewasters.

She wanted to try writing, so she started writing a book, and after a few weeks I asked to try reading what she had..
She wrote 17 chapters, and there was LITERALLY NO PLOT. It was basically just a group of teenagers, living regular teenage life, and even then, a shockingly low amount of drama, you couldn't even call it a "slice of life" story. I asked her "how far through the writing are you?". I figured maybe it was a long intro, and the plot hadn't started yet. She said, I shit you not: "almost done actually! It's a short story."

So itâs like you go on and everyoneâs immediately thinking âok dude whereâs the joke?â Cuz you only have a minute so if you donât have back to back to back jokes, ur minute of shine is not gonna be good. This is a show made for consistent punchline humor rather than the conventional setup-punchline format.

If it was funny it was just inciedentalm he was just trying to riff on everything tony said in the most entry level way. Saying keep going instead of stop is the simplest "say the opposite and it becomes a joke" inclination. But his main problem was not realizing how much of a mean-spirited and arrogant personality was coming through between the non-jokes. Piling on with another "I'm an asshole" joke was also pretty stupid at that point when the crowd already hated him so much.
