Looks like Mos Def brother!!
He does!
Mos Def crosses with Willie D....😊
I was thinking that the whole time
I was just thinking that
Right?!
Heck, he looks like he can still be dancing on Soul Train now. Hasn't aged a bit.
Nothing but the truth
Right im guessing he's 50s because he started in 89.He looks 30s
Yep
He still can
They knew Alfie was a keeper, and he stayed till the very end. Not a single wrinkle on his face.
*Listen 👂🏿 Dancing is the Fountain of Youth. Dance every chance you get 👌🏿*
He danced on Soul Train through 3 decades. 80s, 90s, 00s. Wow!
He looks healthy.
I thought the same thing!
I went to Dorsey High School with Alfie/ this was such a treat to see this, I remember he would be dancing at the pep rally's/ I was a dancer too & i was in Janet Jackson's Escapade Video/ this was a day era of dance/ so awesome & fun/seeing Alfie inspired me to keep dancing/ Soul Train gave us Joy/yall keep dancing
What character did you play in Janet’s Escapade video? Where was the video taped? Looks like Mexico
I always think had my dad not sent me back to Hell when i was living with him in Duarte i would know more people including this guy. Alas he moved to Compton and i moved back to Ontario. Boo.. I think i remember him in person at the clubs back in the day. Someone ruined the Sunset BLVD Palladium with that shooting back in 91 or 92. Soul train was the only place there was no gun fights on the dance floor. I still cant believe it is coming to NEW York!! Ive been in shock ever since i found out. Maybe some of these former dancers will be in attendance.
Thanks for sharing your experience with him. Send you love.
Hhiiii
He went to Washington with us for a while, too... and same thing! Always dancing!
His energy is off the charts 📈🔥🥳
With his voice he could have done radio too 🗣🎙
Took athleticism to a whole new level on ST. Made me cry to see some of those moves.
Facts. Alfie is 🔥🔥🔥
If *Black Don't Crack^ was a person!
Lol
Boy do I miss Soooooul Train!! All these dancers look vibrant still! Dancing does the body and mind good!
Every last Soul Train dancer that I seen looks fantastic and youthful
This guy was one of my favorite dancers. He could've shined in any era. Soul Train was such a great show!! The dancers were like super heroes!! You could consider them great without knowing their names! We wish you Love!! PEACE!! and SOOUULLL!!!!
Your words are like music to my ears. I wholeheartedly agree with you. ALFIE would have shined in any decade!
@@marcodesantiago5273 Indeed. And I might add that you too, my friend, meant a lot to so many households. It was great seeing our people dress and dance so beautifully on television. You guys will remain in our hearts forever!!
He’s a great dancer and still has amazing style!!!
I was born in 88. So I grew up watching Al Boogie in the 90’s and 2000’s. Dude was always on point with moves.
Please interview the guy who was usually shirtless goin down the line.He had beautiful hair that was parted down the center,a braid on each side.
I wasn't watching Soultrain that much, when they got in the 90's 2000's. But this young man is fierce! WOW!
I stopped watching some time in the late 1980s.
@@theresap.3305 I was 18 Years of aged Teenager Lady in 1987. I was always drawn more towards the 1970s and the earlier 1980s Era of Soul Train. I watched a little, during the New Jack Swing Era. The Dancers were great, during earlier 1990s Era. However the Soul Train Dancers from the 1970s would always be my favorite Decade of watching them Danced on Soul Train.✨
I stop watching 94 . I tired to watch in the 2000s..it wasn't the same anymore . I sis I leave this to y'all young people .
I stop watching after Don Left
Wow he was really a good dance, all those flips, like it wasn't nothing
He reminds me of Mos Def
Love watching these...Alfi was mostly my era of dance I was a teen when Guy came out... I wish Soul Train can honor the dancers at one of the award shows especially the ones still around RIP to Shabba Doo.
_ST_ will never be short of the dancers drinking from the fountain of youth. And to be a blessing in disguise for so many that came on the show to find opportunities that _actually_ paid them. Salute!!!
But did you see him Flip and Land on his Toes😳😊
My Goodness! Talent for days
Incredible!
He’s still fly!
Kids born in the 1980s and 1990s missed out on a beautiful, culturally and impactful era for music of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. They missed out on the legends then, records, so many shows like Soul Train, American Bandstand, Johnny Carson. We saw it all and lived the fun.
RIP to music 1950s-1980s
I love do the 1990s and 2000s on Soul Train fans hand Down.
@@clarencesimmons8580 Straigt up
I don’t think so, kids born in the 80’s and 90’s had thier parents who introduced them to the music they grew up with. Not to mention the rise of the internet and how you can listen to any song from any time period.
@@kidcat3000exactly I was born in 91 and already new about soul train before I was 6 my parents always tell me about watching it when they were kids in the 70s
For those that are posting these nonsensical comments. Let me ask you this.
Tell me what it was like IN REAL time since you kids are claiming to not have missed out?
OMG!! HE LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!! I REMEMBER HIM FROM THE JANET VIDEO.
I’m 25 and I love watching these dancers talk about the good old days in Soul Train. I wish I was around during the 70s-90s to watch it. I’m lucky enough to say I was able to watch it during there last run in 00s and I enjoyed it. I can definitely tell how different that era for soul train was from the other eras. Sad that it ended like that but I’m glad I was able to watch it.
Same!
You can still see them on CZcams. Be glad you weren't around in the seventies or you'd be in your 40's instead of your 20's, lol.
He’s INSTANTLY recognizable. I knew I knew him before I knew who it was.
Dude looks like Mos Def!! At least with the hat on. Loved to watch him dance cause he DANCED, no modeling and standing around.
These videos are addicting! I cant stop watching them!!
He has great energy and has aged very well!
I love the way he was able to not just talk about his discovery and success but also the cultural history of Soul Train.
This PHENOMENON is so close to my Heart. For many years, "Al Boogie" has been like a beloved nephew to me. Me being a SOUL TRAIN Dancer, I feel he was so deserving of this world wide BET recognition! "It's A Stone Gas Honey"
✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Hey Marco
You and he were great dancers and very, very attractive! Thanks for all the memories.
From hard-core dancer to chillin' on the couch in a JJ video; I heard that! 😉
I'm glad he was able to make a career off of his dancing and Soul Train exposure. I wish I could move like him.
I remember him so well. These were the days from the 80’s -00’s.
All the Soul Train dancers was great
Especially Rosie Perez is former Soul Train dancer i want her Now!!!!!!!!
@@clarencesimmons8580 🤣🤣🤣
A lot of brothers wanted her but I'm a light-skin brother so you know what I wanted
Right to this day, Alfie can out dance some younger dancers. Top-notch, can't be stopped.👏💯😮🔥❤
Haven't aged that's theme of these Great Dancers keep fit and enjoyment kept them youthful love these stories Thank you Rest in Peace Din Cornelius
Alfie seems like a nice guy and he's a great dancer. So many of the clips in these segments show Barbara D. Scott (lady in yellow @ 1:38) who was popular during the same era. She was always my favorite and a lot of people recognized her and her dancing. She passed away a few years ago and I so wish she could have been featured on this. Other dancers have talked about how sweet she was and I would just love to hear her story and know a little more about who she was.
Oh snap thought this was Mos Def!!!😂😂😂
This man is the definition of the fountain of youth! Phenomenal dancer and love his eclectic '90s style, too
Look at my uncle Been doin this from day one love you uncle you still doin your thing ❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
you got me on the clip!! thanks brother!!! i love it !!!
now i hope they feature me on my own! lil story!!
Time stamp please. I grew up watching ST and loved all of the dancers!
Where are you?
Alfie i dont know if you had anything to do with putting me in your story as a Soul train dancer but thank you brother!!!
Now i hope they feature me on my own lil story!
lmao
Facially, he resembles Mos Def...like a lot
I remember him!! He was always a favorite dancer! He was right when they moved studios it slowly started to get weak. I hope they will talk about that in "American Soul" when it returns
Dude u had SWAG outta this world and can dance like no otha much Love to you 💞
Alfie is a great dancer &one of the coolest that I met dancing on Soul Train. 👏🏽👏🏽🔥🔥🛤🛤💯
Boy that Alfie was one of the best dancers.
*They Never Aged!* What was in that chicken?🤔😁
Ok?!?!?😊😊😊
😂😂😂😂
Lol!!!
🤣🤣🤣
It was seasoned With Majic 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
OMG. I differently remember him
Wow. Alfie's moves seem impossible, yet he defies the laws of nature and executes amazing moves that are VERY entertaining to watch. He's got it.
These SoulTrain dancers are spiritually energetic. It kept them youthful.
He has a great speaking voice.
Man! He could pass for a young man in his 20s!! 🏆
That brother is born to dance!!!!
Al Boogie, he still killin' it on the dance floor!
Alphie was the truth! I used to have my VCR recording him going down the soul train line and play it back in slow motion... "OK first he did this... and den he did that... and den..." I would practice and practice and hold up til the right moment and slayed any "ninja" who thought he could take me. I WAS NOT WHAT YOU WANTED! LOL. Those were the days!
He has great talent and great taste: Michael, Prince, Diana, Lena....very good eclectic groupings. I'm a fan....
I remember him on tv dancing with all the pretty girls everybody wanted on the show on Soul Train
Ooooh that boy can dance
My goodness was there some extra youth sauce in that chicken???? All of y'all look fantastically youthful!
ALFIE free style KING!.. true GROOVE LEGEND...
WOW!! This dude can dance his ass off!! He had me memorized.
Love the music from this era!❤️
Jean shorts with the black boots!👍
I stopped watching Soul Train after the 80's. He is right the new studio is when things changed. I was in college by then and had new young adult interests.
Alfie is bad ass!!
The one chick that was dancing with him was struggling to keep up with his energy.😅😅😅 He looks great and could dance his butt off.
❣️Such a treat to see this video. Alfie was one of my absolute favorite dancers and its good to see he's still looking good and doing well! #KeepDancing🕺🎉💜
He looks good. I thought it was Mos Def/Yasiin Bey.
Wow I use to watch soul train back then until the end he was fantastic and amazing I miss that show. Long live Souuuuuuuul trainnnnnnn
When he would leap off the stage into a split. That was dope.
He would alway make the most of being 1st/2nd In the line🤓🎧
Damn he still looks young, dancing is the secret to keeping you young i guess
PROPS ALFIE BRO!!! PROUD OF YOU!
Ohhh Wow I remember him💖He’s still a cutie very energetic
I still waiting for the guy who wore masks Otis. I want to know his story.
Me too brotha
Right. That guy was in some movies too. I’m loving these stories.
This is one of the best ones, this is a really good series.
I couldn’t wait to for saturday to come as a kid!
👍🏾
I remember watching this brotha(along with Flexx) on the soul train lines of the late 90's....during my teenage years. I'd watch the whole show in anticipation for the line to come on and see that man do his thing. His moves were so dope and unique. I'd record it and watch to try to mimick the stuff I'd see him and Flexx do on the line..lol!!!
He's So Smooth ...love his Style 💕💕💕💕
Absolutely loved Soul Train!! And the Dancers. Especially 70's and 80s.
HE WAS ON ST WHEN ARTIST USED REGULAR DANCERS/PEOPLE IN THEY VIDEOS.....
He may have been the longest running member. He can dance!
YEP!!! 👀I Was Like “I Didn’t Know Mos Def Was A Soul Train Dancer!!! 😂😂😂 He Looks Like Him For Real!!! 😎💕🙏🏾Blessings
This guy the art of dance what an legend this man is never seen dancing like that for longtime he is a professional dancer
I’ve always wondered who was the guy on the couch in Janets vid lol. Idk why I thought it was Dennis Rodman 🤣
Big Lou was respected by all the Soul Train dancers. Most of them have shouted him out in these segments.
another soul train legend have spoken Alfre Lewis 🏆 you are a part of black American history because you danced and performed on a black television show created for black dancers and performers ✌️
This is why older people be like....YOU GON HAVE BAD KNEES😂🤣😂🤣😂🥰🥰I like his vibe and he actually has talent
Oh yeah I remember him,he has some super smooth moves.sometimesvhe wore that derby and had the cane.i loved those moves...they took the camera off to soon lol he was throwin
What an AMAZING TALENT.
Alfie is a true warrior...stayed until ST made its final stop.
People keep asking about the chicken...and I will have to say that it was the energy of being a part of a phenomenal show.
We don’t have that anymore...
Chaos...mayhem...and anarchy ruin the fun!
Congratulations Alfie! You are awesome!!!! Can't wait to start taking classes again with you!
