- I took the BMW R1250GS out for a full days ride on and off road on the fantastic Spanish mountain roads and tracks with Toro Adventure. This was my first proper full ride of this amazing machine prior to me buying my own BMW R1250GS 2020 HP.
Find out what the tractor is like on and offroad and how I fell in love.

Best way to buy them is when they are secondhand.
I never buy new. I had a R1200RS and was scouring all the BMW dealers via the Motoradd site and found an absolute gem.
So I now own a BMW R1250 GS Rallye that came with, Full expandable luggage, Ackrapovic exhaust, Front Fog lamps, Lowered chassis and seat. It was 6 months old so has 30 months warranty left full service history for a fraction of the cost new and I love it.
I totally agree with you also the power delivery is night and day compared with the 1200, it has instant power everywhere, that shiftcam is astonishing the power is instant. It makes the 1200 feel really sluggish.
I have definitely found my match with this bike.
One BMW salesman said to me once you have owned one you will keep coming back for another one all the time.
I agree it is a bug and I love it, roll on the 1300 GS !!!
Great Video. I was Deployed from West Germany in 81 with a U S Air Force Mobile Combat Communications Group to Spain. It was when a Spanish Military General was committing a Coup against the Spanish Government. We were sent to help the Loyal Military Forces. We were down in Almeria Spain. It was Beautiful there. We got to see a Lot of the Country. I have always wanted to go back. I would Love to Tour it on my 1200 GS.👍❤️
Having lived here for seven years, I can confidently vouch for these roads!! As a Highlander, I find the roads and predictable weather particularly appealing. While I currently ride a Harley Softail Slim, the BM has recently caught my attention. Great channel, mate!
The reviewer's optimism and appetite for life is more contagious than the coronavirus. Watching this made me happy.
Ha Ha that’s great to hear Niklas, I’m glad you enjoyed it 👍
Having owned both Models, totally agreed with your assessment regarding the differences between the 1200 and the 1250. 1250's Engine is Amazing. I can almost ride in the Rain Mode and be Happy.
I’ve been watching your videos and Lamb’s video for some time now and after seeing this video I now know that I want to visit Spain and I want to come to the UK and ride with you guys from the US, OH! And thank you for that song “Three Weeks Ago” can’t stop listening to it.
A great video, thanks for sharing. As you know @teaptone we have some great biking roads Down Under in Australia, loving my 2020 1250 GSA Kalamata so far...!
Best video yet Bruce!! Love seeing the GS used to its full potential! I’m hanging out to upgrade my 2013 GS for a 1250 GSA next to get off-road a bit next year! Bloody nice work indeed!
Cheers Brett! 👍
A great video! I can feel the fun - thanks for that!
Just chopped in the RT for the GS and already been on roads that I would never take the RT on. Every bike I have ever owned has been the best bike I have ever owned and have promised "err in-doors" that it will be a keeper, never happened but maybe this time the GS will be! Keep up the good work Bruce, love your channel, even the non-biker wifey enjoys it and your outlook on life.
Got to put this on the bucket list ,looks awesome.
cheers!
I've never tried the 1200 gs, but I did try the 1250 gsa this summer and I ended up ordering one. I love the bike so much, an absolute peach to ride, biggest standout feature for me is the amazingly strong brakes and suspension, and just overall how the bike handles.
Telelever stability! (And they wonder why the KTM competitors wiggle at high speed !) 😂
@@maxflight777 Yeah, the gs grips the ground like a freighttrain, I tried the 1290 super adventure S, lovely bike, but just not for me
@@bufftankington7349 I came close to buying one ... (they are exciting!) but, one day I was on the motorway , middle lane in my X5 .. approx 80 (indicated ) ... A fully loaded orange and white 1290SA came past me doing about 110mph -I couldn’t believe it ! As it passed, the bars flapped in a tank -slapper type weave !
I thought about my impending purchase and immediately decided; F that !!
@@maxflight777 Yeah I've heard reviews saying similar things. The gsa is steady as a rock at those speeds
Yep bought a used 2019 GSA 1250 HP and love it!!!
I love my RE Himalayan for a bit of mixed riding, it's a budget bike but it's also the bike I ride most. The other bike is a V strom 1000 which is my bike of choice for the bigger adventures involving faster roads.
The GS is great, I'd love one:)
Coming from a sportbike background, and having club road raced for 3 seasons. Always been a fan of 1000cc sport bikes. At the age of 53 brought a Ducati Multistrada Enduro in 2017. Great all round bike, but always felt a little top heavy. May 2020 and an 85 year old car driver decides to kill it! Went shopping for a replacement and the white with red and blue decals HP model just looked so good I brought a fully loaded non adventure version. Hate to say it, in my 56 years of riding motorcycles this is the best all round motorcycle I have ever owned. Not the best motorcycle, but best do it all, have a shit smiling grin on your face fun ride. Even does a good wheelie! Brakes and handling are pretty damn perfect. I was one of those don't give me any electronics type riders. Now I'm like, heated grip, hill start control, switchable riders modes, let's have them all. Still think Ducati has the better traction and wheelie controls, but the BMW is pretty darn perfect too. Can't wait for BMW to bring out a 1300HP enduro model. Enjoy what you ride, and ride what you enjoy. Merry Christmas all from an Ex-pat UK biker living in Winston Salem N.C. an amazing place to live and ride bikes.
Cheers Steve, I’m with you a 100% on all of that 👍
Amazing video with a good combination of scenery and review!
Really an amazing bike. Great stuff, TP1.
Nice film Bruce, almost a drone disaster, nice save. I bought the r1250gsa after listening to you and having test ride all of its rivals. Great bike. Also been off road on a couple of green lanes, not too far just 12 miles or so and it was good fun, would be better on non all road tyres which it came with. Also really well built having already throwing it down grass banking after my own pheasant encounter at 60 mph. After market risers were shit and pheasant hit the handlebars which came off in my hands. My arse was proper puckered I can tell you. However myself and the bike survived. Bike needed new lower engine bar, handle bars, front mud guard and a good clean. Looks great again now 😊😊
Great video just whats needed in these times👍. Got to get to Spain at some point and ride these roads and trails. And top marks for editing, definitely one of your best. Hoo, haa!
Thank you very much Ian, cheers 👍
Second time I've watched this, this week. Great vid. motorcycles that make you smile . Looook at that,
I’ve just bought a 2019 model and picking it Friday! Can’t wait 🤗
Fantastic video and superb editing Bruce to put this together. Not a bad way to spend your day.
Cheers Mark 👍
Great to have the travel v-logs back Bruce. This was absolute quality.
I think I enjoyed the bits you didn’t! Lucky with the drone and the tree. Happy New Year Bruce
That was a excellent video, a lot of work went into that editing for sure 😊
Cheers Rikky 👍
A great video. What great bikes these are.
Fantastic Bruce thank you..needed a pick me up..

I've just seen this pop up and I'm at work so cant watch it. I cant wait to see this!!
Hope you enjoy it Brett 👍
Outstanding clip. Loved the part where you say you hate, hate the decent 😂.
I live near to the roads you went on, so will definitely be having a closer look... Only on tar mind you.
Looking forward to your next post.
The best All Round bike that money can buy.Easy to service, shaft drive, can handle dirt, tar, has power, comfort. The list goes on.Cheers.JHB-SA.
The shots on the drone!! Ohhh magical!! Awesome work!!
Easy to get good shots there, the whole place is beautiful! But thank you 👍👏
I'm not sure it's the best but it is one of the best that gives a best whole package. It's got the looks, power, convenience, ease of use and much more.
Great video - love my GS. Need to get down to southern Spain. Looks amazing. BTW a love your channel and looking forward to seeing you on your new show on Amazon next year !
Thanks Barry, I can’t wait to get going with it too, hope you enjoy it 👍
Bejesus the washout on the right hand side at 23:06...made my arse grip the couch! Nice video.
Hi from Wagga Wagga Australia. My first watch of your videos and enjoyed your style and commentary. I have had 2 R1100GS’s, 1 by 1200LC and now my R1250GS. I am in the Canberra BMW Club and also have a mixture of 3 older BMWs in my shed. I love my new 1250GS (2019 model) having done 10,000klms over the last 12 months I can thoroughly agree with your assessments on the GSD. I love mine. I also prefer the road to the dirt but have done some dirt. I did the BMW Off Road Adventure course and recommend that as a great couple of days training. Amazing what you learn. Keep riding and I have Subscribed to your channel to enjoy some more CZcams reports. Signing off. Bruce from Wagga Wagga
Cheers Bruce,
Welcome to the channel bud and I appreciate your support 👍
Amazing Bruce really enjoyed every second of the video
Thanks Ali, that’s great to hear 👍
Fingers crossed we can all have some fun in Spain next year
Brilliant vid and you're a braver man than me on the off road section!
the best video i"ve seen so far...............absolutely lovin it...
Thanks bud 👍
Awesome video 👍I must book as soon as it’s open again 😎
Awesome video. Could not help but subscribe to your channel. The kind of bike ride video I was looking for. Thanks.
Thanks Nero’s! Appreciate your support here bud and glad you enjoyed the vid 👍
Great bike and great ride!!
Great video and I’m glad you had fun, but nfw I would ever ride on that narrow dirt/shale road. 😊
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. I'm waiting on my 1250, here in Thailand. I previously owned two Beemers....classics....the R60 and R90S. The 1250 will be next level, of course, but man, do I miss the old bikes! Thanks for a fantastic viewing experience.
My pleasure bud, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Fab vid as ever, and how close was that tree!!!!
I love my 2019 1250GS Exclusive......I have owned many bikes over the years, this IS the best one!
I was out with Adrian in Jan/Feb the week before you guys went out. Adrian is such a smooth rider, he really ‘reads’ the clients abilities and is very professional. Let’s hope we all get a chance to get back to Toro Adventure very soon. Stay safe Bruce. Joe.
Cheers Joe, and you bud 👍
Hands down the BMW R1250Gs is the best, if I ever get delivery of mine! Delayed again 😑! Top video Bruce, love the drone close call! 😄
Thanks Murt, fingers crossed yours arrives soon bud 👍
Love your trips and your comments, man! "look at thahhh!"
Thanks bud 😉👍
Very enjoyable that was, just a good fun and honest video.
Thank you Des, glad you enjoyed it bud 👍
Great video fantastic editing and music choice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 👍
Another great video it baffles me all the touring videos doesn't matter whose riding or what bike everyone seems to ride in low gear second or third with all the grunt ! Why fuel is taking a hammering
So we are the spanish and our landscape, thanks for comming to Spain, we hope to see your ride here very soon :)
I am looking forward to the day we can travel again. My plans for Toro 2020 were scuppered but hopefully I will be back there in 2021. Here’s hoping Lyndon and the gang are hanging in there. Hopefully we can show them some love in 2021. They deserve it after this past year.
Absolutely Richard 👍
Those drone shots very cool, good job it noticed the tree 🤣
Ha Ha mate I thought it was a goner!
Cheers bud, glad you liked it 👍
Congrats on your new TV venture Bruce, very happy for you👍
Thanks very much Leo, really looking forward to cracking in with it 👍
every year I tour the western USA on a GS. Cant wait to get back this year. The ultimate camping machine up in the mountains. I'm th only one I ever see on a GS where I go. Anyway, thanks for th video Spain looks great. I wish they didn't have the tax burden I might live there.
Love the video. Where abouts in Spain are you riding as it looks spectacular. Ive had my gsa1250 for 3 years and never yet been away on it. Only done 1900 miles up to now... but watching your video has inspired me to go to Spain this year. Thanks for taking the time to make the video!
Cheers Chris, that is down in Southern Spain, just north west of Malaga
Hi Bruce , My S1000XR has gone in for some warranty work , BMW gave me a R1250GS to use in the meantime. I have never ridden a GS until 3 days ago, Ive been riding / commuting on the 1250GS the last 3 days and oh my word , now I know why the GS is best selling motorcycle! I have had 3 x S1000XR's and I think I'm converted. My next bike will definitely be a GS, just need to get the Rukka suit (haha). Another great video with awesome shots, love the drone footage. Well done!
Ha Ha, I’m chuffed you like it bud... welcome to the club 😉👍
Cracking vid Teapot and as you say, why wouldn’t you go to Spain on two wheels👌🏽
Roll on 2021👍🏽...
Ahhh...A happy Teapotone is a happy day indeed! Congrats to a beautiful day and bike. May we live to see another. Ride a GS/GSA and it will change your life. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.
🙏👍
“Good practice for British roads”. All too true! Bruce!!
Really looking forward to my trip to Toro in April, COVID permitting. Great vid as always.
Thanks Richard, enjoy Toro bud 👍
@@teapotone Cheers Bruce. I’m sure we will; been watching so many of you at Toro and we’ve had to postpone our trip twice so far, so we’re all really looking forward to it all the more.
Awaiting delivery of my latest TeaPotOne merch this morning too! Time for a bru!
I have the 2020 GSA version of that bike. I understand now why people love them, they just do everything so well and here in Australia, I do it without range anxiety thanks to that 30 liter tank. 👍
The price is of course ludicrous, I could have bought a nice little car with aircon and all of the other extras for the same money but . . . BIKE !
Enjoyed that vid matey.
Awesome, cheers bud 👍
I so want to go there someday, long haul from the US, but I want to go for a week if possible. Great video. Be Healthy and Be Safe !!!
Thanks Barry, and you bud 👍
Great vid Bruce, you did well off roading there considering your not a fan👍 drone footage looks good to, I’ve still not mastered the follow me mode on my mavic air either......
Thanks bud, that was the original Mavic pro, and it’s tracking abilities on motorbikes isn’t good at all in my experience.
Mi now have the Mavic Air 2 and it’s a lot better, but still struggles with motorbikes.
literally happiness by mile :D cant wait to get mine someday :)
Great video, great bike, great roads, amazing scenery. What more could you wish for?!
Thanks very much 👍
Goodness me I do like these Toro vids 😁😎🏍🧡
That was a great run out Bruce😁
Keep up the great work fella and viewers get yourself hooked to Brutime Podcast 🙂👍
🏍😎🧡
Thank you Mac 👍
Cracking video.
Great, great video. You say you wana hug the bike? 😂 I wana hug you (in the most manly biker way of course), for such joyous spirited ride. I looking to buy a GS 1200. You twisting my arm to spend more money on a 1250. Stay safe my friend
Come to Portugal too ! Less traffic , identical roads and scenery .... the Roads north of Faro are amongst the worlds best for biking.
Very well put together video Bruce. For someone that claims to dislike off roading you seem to make a lot of off roading videos ;) I think secretly you actually enjoy it.
Ha Ha - BUSTED! 😉👍
Honda Fireblade RR-R-SP , Absolutely Phenomenal!!! LAZER Perfect, SPEED never came so easy and felt soo GOOD!!!!
When I had my GSA I thought this is the best allrounder ever. After having taken it through off road in the alps and other off road trips, I really didn't think that anymore. It is a great bike, don't take me wrong, but depends what you do with it and I didn't want to suffer that much lifting it when down in off road. So I tried a mid-size trail and despite I lost some ponies, I am having so much fun. So I sold the big GSA and bought me the Tiger Rally 900. I just can't wait to take it off pavement.Another point is that I wanted a 21" front wheel as well.
Bah I did them all mid ,light and went back to the gs if I can't do it on the gs I'll just throw a 300cc plated bike in the truck and unload the bike when I get there..
A bit nicer than the 2 degrees and snow in North Wales today ❄❄🥶
I love it how so many of us put on some kind of weird accent went speaking to foreigners haha, well you were the foreigner in this case but you get my drift...
Currently own a 2012 R1200GS and a KTM 690 that I use for adventure riding. The GS is a great traveler and does OK for intermediate off-road. The 690 lighter and easier to handle but definitely limited for travel. I think the new middleweights make more sense for me as they have a good balance of each. Great video and what incredible scenery and routes!
Have you looked into the Rally Raid Evo kits for the 690?
@@aka_pierre - I have not. Would be interested in comments from those who have rally setups.
Love the kichstart reference
I have been there few weeks later in January and Lyndon said you hated the off-road 😁
Had a chat with Adrian to, lovely people and stunning place. I would give anything to be able to work there 😏
Took you long enough to put that one out 🤐
Testament to the quality of the bike that you were able to feel at least semi comfortable riding along the cliff edges. Well done for stretching your comfort zone.
Had a plan to get an GS Adventure, decided nope when I saw the insurance. I couldn't find a provider less that £3000. Is that just what people are paying?
No definitely not.
My insurance is particularly high as I do very high mileage, have had a few accidents and have 3pts, plus use of for business purposes - my insurance is under a grand.
I know many people who’s Gs insurance is literally a couple of hundred quid so not sure why yours is so high?
@@teapotone I don't know any providers so was looking on compare the market. Do you have any recommendations on providers?
Channel sponsor is BeMoto (links in description) so quote TEAPOTONE for a deal 👍
I really enjoy every second on my 1250GS. This bike brings so much fun and happiness. Sometimes you even forget about physical and skill limits :)))
Great video the bit where you said the GoPro didn't pick up how bad the road was a local comes tootling down it in his trusty Peugeot partner ( 2 wheel drive van) hilarious 😂
Ha Ha yeah always going to happen. You can be in the middle of nowhere thinking you’re a proper adventurer, and then some locals appear on their way to do a weekly shop etc and put you firmly in your place 😂👍
Fantastic Video. Thank You
Cheers Pete 👍
If you ever get converted to going off road.....? try the Dunlop Mission, great 50/50 tires, great on and off road. Also, get some off-road training you will be amazed. Those Michelin Adventure that were on those bikes are 20 to 30% off road at best. Bless you! lol
Yes sir, if those are the Michelin Anakee (they sure looked like it), they are 70/30 (or so Michelin says). That said, take a look at the rear tire of the TKC 70 Rocks (which are also 70/30).🤷♂️
I'd love to ride there. It's a long flight from the US though. Great video.
I don't mean to sound like a fan boy, but I absolutely love your work Teapot. The editing, the commentary, even the bloody music is great!
Bet you wish you were kicking people's doors in because of illegal BBQ's rather than riding around Spain on the GS though... 😉
get me tarmac get me tarmac..had me in splits!
excellent video
Thanks bud 👍
What a great place to ride!
Hats off to you mate , you did the off road reluctantly but top marks for effort and yes British roads are just as Rustic
Loved that! “This is great practice for British roads”😂. However, seeing you pass cars when you’re on the edge of a very nearly vertical drop to your right has put me off a bit. I’ll stick to the tarmac roads 👍🏻
missed my trip there this year hopping for early 2021
Bruce, Loved this mate. Crackin! Missed an adventure vid, perfect upload 🔝🎥🎬💯
That's decided me Bruce, great vid brother!
Cheers Pete 👍
Aaahh, Summer or, at least, the Spanish Winter. I feel better now.
It’s so weird seeing the roads I ride on on CZcams.
Glad you enjoyed it. Some fantastic routes around here.
Thanks Kasper, you are very lucky to ride those roads all the time, fantastic fun 👍
@@teapotone Lucky indeed! Can’t wait for the municipal lockdown to be over so we can ride again.
Next time you’re down... that BP station you pulled in at at the Alhaurin roundabout... take that road that goes down to the coast from there and back up again. An amazing few miles of biking heaven.
It’s a great bike ...but no....what’s best is a personal opinion......i have ridden a GS on and off road with the BMW team....yet I don’t own one...I went for a Kawasaki.....and I love it.
It's already 3 years that I'm riding in the mountains with my friend during summer holidays. He's riding a GS, I'm riding a VFR800F.
This year, he was riding his brand new 2020 1250GS, the years before that he had been riding a 2017 1200GS. This year, when he was overtaking, I haven't noticed any difference in his acceleration. Bluntly stated : he didn't out-accelerate me this year, just like he didn't the years before... I could still follow him on my 2015 VFR800F. So I guess the acceleration of the 1250 over the 1200 isn't as spectacular as you make it appear.
