Producer Jon's off-screen laughter is one of the best sounds in the world, surely?
It's rare to have a video where Ellen isn't laughing the hardest of anyone, but I think Jon takes the prize this week.

I am so glad that the trend has been towards acknowledging and including Jon's and James' presence in the rooms with even some of the more scripted shows (and this is not one of those shows).
I literally came to the comment section to praise the wholesome sound! One of the best things about them being back on the purple sofa.
Of course Ellen was a professor! They're always named after plants so it makes sense that she's Professor Rose!!

@@MateusDrake It's a magnolia tree, that grows large white flowers that are referred to as magnolias as well. It's all about context/specifying which you're specifically talking about. (I'm Southern, and there's not many plants more Southern than a magnolia.)

At first I was upset that Andy was not in there to judge those pikachus but I realize now the Pokémon Magazine probably hired him to pick the six best Pikachus anyway so it wouldn't be fair if he saw Ellen's beforehand.

Okay, so firstly. The amount of fun that they're all clearly having is absolutely a wonderful joy to behold. Secondly, hearing Jon laughing off-camera is absolutely incredible.
It's great, yeah. The energy of this video was worth learning about Ellen's desire for turning her Pokemon into candy.

I know it might not be something anybody wants to linger on, but props to both Ellen and Luke for just candidly saying they've been to therapy before. Even amidst a chaotic cavalcade of Pokemon delights, there exists a casual comment about how going to therapy is okay and should be seen as a normal thing to do
I've been to therapy before. It didn't work because I just kept arguing with the therapist.

I love Ellen's delighted laughter whenever Luke swears on SotW.
Gotta say; the best thing about these is the juxtaposition of the opposites: 'Normal adult people' reading and doing activities from a children's magazine, the inevitable off-colour jokes and questions about the ethics of Pokémon, a game inspired by escapism and a longing for a simpler time of innocent childhood bug-catching and watching kaiju animé turned into a mega-enterprise which itself has a gargantuan struggle between humble roots and corporate greed. It's like a valve on the built-up of the irony of the whole thing.
Or maybe, it's just really fun? xD
