- An awesomely creepy animated short film by the talented Filmmaker, and Visual artist Floris Kaayk! A futuristic vision of a world after a catastrophic disaster. In this dark parable mutated limbs are looking for cooperation, but due to miscommunication this mission is doomed to fail.
The storyline of The Origin of Creatures is based on one of the most well-known tales about collaboration, the Tower of Babel. This tale is transformed and twisted and is set in an imaginary future, after the world is hit by a catastrophe. Among the remains of a devastated city lives that what is left of humanity. Human bodies are divided into separated parts of the body and are fused to special beings. Together, these creatures form a colony, they can only survive when collaborating. In the rubble of destroyed buildings they are trying to build a nest as large and as high as possible, so that the colony"s queen gets enough sunlight to reproduce, but due to miscommunication this mission is doomed to fail.

This creature has a stomach or this is a separate being? These two have to lean agaist other to do digeston? The energy is passed by touch too?And so go on...

A truly unique work. Possibly a metaphor for progress as well. All of those creatures worked so hard to build their structure, as tribute to the mother-thing in the hole, & with one mistake it came crashing down--mostly. Something was left standing where before was nothing but a hole in the ground. Bravo, CGbros...I wish I had your skills.

This video is tottaly a metaphor of the human society:
1. Everyone has his own part and duty: eyes, ears, hands, legs, producer.
2. The whole society join together to create human culture.(the tower)
3. However, history has his own cycle. when the end of the cycle comes, a single small mistake will destory the whole culture.(The tower broke down)
4. Culture came to an end, but human are not. They survived, human survived and waiting for the next cycle. (The finger and eye hind themselves)
You sound like a pure functionalism believer pal.
I interpret it differently. The mother represents our will, or how we feel. We move forward and attempt to engage ourselves in something, the tower. The way the creatures just overtake the tower shows a lack of planning, representing our imperfections, and thus we fail, and feel like hiding ourselves. But as long as we are alive, the will to move forward re-ignites, eventually

This was wonderfully entertaining and certainly easy to understand without a word being uttered. I found myself really cheering on certain "creatures" as they seemed to be the most determined, most innovative, and most likely to succeed. I really like sci-fi and monster type movies and this short was done with so very much imagination that it will remain as one of my favorites for a very long time! Another great hit, CGBros!

Oh I get it! It's a video about the rise and fall of civilization! It's talking about how civilizations can rise, but they eventually will fall no matter how strong or powerful they are. But sometimes out of the ashes a new civilization can arise... only to fall.....

I thought this could have been a video to teach the lesson to try again tomorrow if you fail today since the last fingers with the eye buried itself again at the end. Perhaps the things will re-emerge at dawn and attempt to build again. But I truly have no idea what I just witnessed.
That actually creeped me out. Freaky but I couldn't take my eyes away! Gave me some goose bumps along the way too. To the crew that created this little gem I say Well done! I loved it! I always have fun when I see TheCGBros have a video I haven't seen yet!

That reminds me about one Greek philosopher’s idea that in the beginning there was chaos of different body parts, which in time merged into animals and humans.

Plus,each part could give different benefits. Like,if you have lots of eyeballs,then you're going to be sensitive and have to be slow,and if you're all just fingers then you're going to have to use sound to indicate where you go. So,you'll have to balance it in a way.
Send that idea of to companies like Ubisoft or twisted pixel! MAKE IT HAPPEN MAXIS.

God, this reminds me of the ideas presented by the whole modular human art project that went viral a while back.. its almost like a distopian future where war destroyed everything but a single organism capable of making only certain modules, and from nothing, it and it's offspring are trying to rebuild humanity.

Well I think it means how life is a continuous circle. We start of as one and along the way we gain help from others however, as life goes on something bad will always happen and were back to being on our own then aiding or asking for help once again

I took it more as a political statement. The clouds represent change in society, the commanding eye acts as a dictator/totalitarian leader, the "mother" acts as propaganda creating more followers, the limbs represent citizens following blindly, the ears represent those that want to keep the system by attempting to fix it, and the other buildings show how other leaders tried to create and maintain this form of government but failed to do so from society changing constantly changing. If only they had noses be revolutionists and attack the building in construction; it would've been the icing on the cake.

I presume this is a reference to the tower of Babylon and also the religious ideas of "the great flood". Can't be sure I was pretty hammered when I watched it.
if you notice "queen" only reproduce whenever there is light, so they must try to build a tower higher... than those dark cloud to get more light?!

This really needs an understanding level which is outstandinly strong.
What i feel like for this animation is that, try to take 2020 as an example, and the first one is recruiting somebody to help buildinh up the company, and then suddenly Corona Virus Strikes hard to every departments, Food stall, Mechanical, Educations, and some other works. And then they stayed safe while 'Play Safe' in some invesments, whereas they take 100% cares for whatever things hoping around the corner.
That's just my perspective, I'm not sure what is it sounds like to you, but I'm pretty sure you have some other ideas around, but you don't know how to expredd it. It's fine, I'm the same.
