I simply can not thank you enough for this lesson. I grew up in Hacienda Heights California down the street from a guy named Greg F. He was/is very proficient on the six string and was from an early age. We would go to the local record store, pick out a Yes album, and a few hours later he was playing mood for a day. Self taught. I was and am still jealous. We're talking 1975 now.
Cut to 2014. I have a decent set of fingers and some talent but not much of an ear apparently because picking up a song from an album is almost impossible for me. I've been thinking about taking some lessons for many years just to try and learn for one thing, "Mood For A Day".
I don't know why it took so long to get the idea of looking on CZcams but the light finally went on tonight. I am now through the first 20 seconds or so of the song and with a little practice will be able to do it justice.
I can't begin to thank you enough for putting up this free lesson. I will go to sleep and wake up with a smile on my face thinking of this fantastic song and the fact that I'm beginning to actually play it. YaaaHoooo!!!
Very nice piece
I learnt Clap from Lick n Riff...took a year or so but well worth it would never have done it otherwise.
Thank you for this! I learned this song 35 years ago after seeing my first YES concert and I forgot it many years ago because for some foolish reason I stopped playing it. When I came across your lesson on CZcams I was very impressed and knew in my heart that I had to relearn it. I started at 7 am today and it is now 5:30 pm! My fingers are sore, but I have the basic piece down. Now there will be lots of practice...
I have spent many hours almost every day over the last month or so and because of your vid I have been able to turn endless drills of one technique or another into an enjoyable coherent song that closely resembles Mood for the day. Thanks so very much!
Played this for my dad (one of his favorite songs) after I learned it from your video. Thanks for this great lesson
I love the way you look at the camera throughout the video it makes me smile :) great tutorial, really easy to follow.
I'm glad I have the authentic tabs and sheet music as well this is a great addition especially when know the time signatures and I like how you broke up the song choosing to not always start on the first beat but rather dissecting each part to it well done!
You have the best method of teaching out of all of the You Tube videos i've seen so far!! Thank you!!!
That's awesome! I'm so happy to hear this
Very well done LickenRiff, I applaud your talents on the guitar. I look forward to seeing more songs and lessons.
You are one amazing instructor.
I discovered this video barely an hour ago, and am rapidly on my way to playing this piece. I'm a huge fan of Steve Howe and have been working of a couple of his other solos on my own.
Thank you so much.
Keep on teaching.
I just now put the guitar down to write this to you. I'm an absolute beginner but I just finished learning this one completely. Just now. Never thought I'd be capable of learning it! I couldn't thank you enough. The tabs were so very helpful. Again, thanks!
Yeah man ! Thanks so much for this. I forgot about this song until the other day, I'm loving this lesson, and loving playing this one, nylon strings or steel doesn't matter just a fun tune and a great workout
Hey Steve, thanks so much for the lesson. Your style of playing the riffs then showing the tabs is great man, so thank you. Subbed.

@StereoLightz You got it. I was just thinking about doing a series of Beatles lessons. I'll try to film them this week.
You are an excellent teacher. This is SO good. Thanks :)
What a excellent lesson my man. Like some others I tried to learn the song listening to the record. I forgot it all after a wile
not having a guitar. But I'm back with strings and wood learning how to play these fantastic songs from master guitarist like yourself. Steve Howe really is a genius also.
Many thanks from London.
Thank you very much for your step by step approach to one of my all time favorites, that I thought would be so hard to learn. I now am completely stoked as I am learning the song with ease.
I'm also looking forward to looking at your other lessons.
I have wanted to learn this song forever and your lesson made it so easy. I didn't realize that my skill level had risen to the point that I can really play this now and as I practice I hope to increase fluidity. I have made it half way and I am just astonished by how well it's going, you gave the first great tab I have seen of this gem of a song. Thanks again. I wonder if you have already done Clap from Yes.

Julian Gonzalez
Sobre todo THANK YOU VERY MUCH FROM COLOMBIA es español. Qué idioma habla Usted?
excellent lesson my friend!
Awesome lesson!
Beautiful piece,( especially doing it behind your back)
Thanks for taking the time to show everyone this song, there are several points where it played differently than you´ve shown - you´ve sometimes made the fingering more difficult than it is - and some points where your´re playing too many and the wrong notes. Nevertheless, it´s a helpful tutorial, thanks.
wow.awesome...thanks..tough one to teach too..been wanted to learn this one for yearsss
Increible, gracias desde Argentina!
Amazing thanks for the class

Very very good! Thanks
Very nice. Thank you.
Great video! Thanks so much!
Thanks, the tutorial is very accessible - it's a shame that you missed out a few parts (alternate voltas) though. Keep up with the good work, my only advice is that you could improve your left hand technique.
Muchas Gracias.Excelente.
My coworker has challenged me to learn this song. I will not disappoint him!
This is amazing thank you so much! Just curious, how come you left out the part right after the C part where he plays the A part again repeating it and then ends on that chord before going into the ending .
Sorry if thats confusing. The part that occurs at 1:11 on the oringianl track!!! !
Thankyou
Im doing this song for my berklee audition!! : D
I have actually got down the whole thing in a day just practicing each part a ton before trying to peform the whole piece. Thanks dude you rock. But when you bar 1 and stretch to 4 on D, I have lots of trouble and when successful it sounds off? Can I just play the normal 1 on A with 2 on B then 4 on D? Easier and sounds ok.
thank you!
Great video men, really usefull.
One problem, I clicked on the "wanna watch me playing it" and it says the video isn't available. It would be cool to hear the whole song played by you.
Awesome! Thank you o/
Fun piece huh...! I’ve seen a few different versions of this. (Fingering) fun fun.!! Oddly enough both of the best random versions live have been by drummers I once knew... you a drummer? Lol. Anyhoo id say try
Frank Zappa..tunes like “make the water turn black” and “sofa no.2” are fun to hear different voicing much the same as Howe does. Cheers
