- A deputy with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in Florida has been arrested after reportedly soliciting a child in Polk County, authorities say.
This is exactly why a 9 year old doesn’t need a cell phone
It's not the phone's fault. whether you are 9 or 90 there will be people out there with predatory intentions, it's not always sexual in nature either, they will take advantage of gullibility and misinformation. The only way to combat it is with education, not isolation.

Also a 9 year old should never be allowed home by themselves, but with a babysitter or family member. There simply is no logical reason why they should have a smart phone, and I don't understand why there are peoe who want to defend the 9 year olds access to their on personal phone. Perhaps there are.parents that want to get their kids out of their hair and use it to pacify their kids like parents did a generation ago with tv.
Any parent that gives a child a phone should be imprisoned with the pedophile.

He should of got life without parole but since there was no contact with the child, I guess they gave him a lighter sentence. In my opinion, a death sentence should of been given. Hopefully in his prison term, he gets inmate kangaroo court every day even several times a day resulting in beatings.

I live in Texas and there was a Fort Bend County Sheriff‘s Department guy who wrecked his work truck and failed a test for meth. I’m Canadian and I love that he exposes these people! Be vigilant and teach your kids signs that are red flags. Just like they use to teach us without internet never take candy from a stranger. It’s getting more complex with this online stuff but the more you teach them to enjoy not being online the less interactions they will have with predators. If you can’t do that they need to know if someone talks inappropriately or show in inappropriate pics or ask for some that they do not and should stop all interactions. And also report this person online.

He could retire & become a judge that sitting will be good for em and that attitude would be negotiable for defendants, plaintiffs, & prosecutors

@420yendal I would love to see Fiji. This is a bad time for us here but glad I'm not in Michigan. They have a terrible Governor. I live in Pinellas county but am a big fan of Sheriff Grady in Polk county. He does a lot of sting operations and busts a lot of pedophiles!
I encourage you to look into the program for police training. Rents are lower in Polk county. Even lower if you can find a good roommate. Lakeland is a beautiful old fashioned town. Still a lot of nice rural areas there. Always job security in police work down here.

I’m suspicious of anyone who complains about sting operations. How is it unfair? They choose to search for a child.
Same people who don't want to get caught in a sting.
If you look at something like NBC's To Catch A Predator, sting decoys can act unrealistically agreeable to suggestions made by the adults, so that they end up catching people who wouldn't have normally been capable of grooming children. Make no mistake: Anyone who would sexually solicit someone claiming to be a child is a child predator, and that sort of thing is usually illegal even if the child isn't real. But Chris Hansen himself, in pieces of narration from TCAP, has said that a good number of people caught on the show probably wouldn't have sought child victims if the opportunity hadn't presented itself to them.
The existence of someone like Kansas Sadler Jr. singlehandedly justifies the sting operations, because it's obvious that some people would be (and still are) grooming real children, rather than just decoys. My guess is that the people who object to the stings are friends or relatives of those caught in them, who believe that the person caught is basically harmless, and aren't thinking about the bigger picture and the extremely heinous crimes that the stings are necessary to prevent.
@@and_the_first_last Two people have been posting all of the TCAP episodes with follow-ups. What is completely horrific is to see just how many of them reoffended again and again as far as 2018 I believe.
@@and_the_first_last The point is that if they are presented with an opportunity they will take it, nothing about that changes just because the opportunity is manufactured.
@@BIackCadillac Like I said, I agree with that. Even if someone wouldn't go actively looking for minors to solicit, he still presents a danger to children if he's willing to molest them under any circumstances.
I don't think that objecting to the methodology of these stings warrants suspicion in and of itself, though.

I am so sorry I opened this while eating breakfast. Thank God for people like our sheriff and sheriff Ashley and the prosecutors. Family, police and prosecutors working together, seems to be the key to keeping our children safe.

I’m all about reforming the criminal justice system to focus on reform instead of punishment, but in the case of abusing children I feel like the system is too lenient. This man is a monster.

I like this sheriff a lot. He’s one of the good guys for sure. You can tell. Ya this is obvious. But I bet he’s a good guy when things are less obvious too. Especially when it comes to fellow law enforcement.

My daughters are ten years apart, and I constantly tell my oldest that her baby sister will depend on her for life. This is a great example of a big sister doing what big sisters do. She is the real MVP. Good job big sister!

When it comes to protection, Mom is like a goal keeper. Mom is the toughest and last line of defense to protect the child. The big sister(s) are the defenders in front of Mom. Mom has to watch and direct her defenders.
