Dan I was so depressed in my 15 plus yrs of chronic pain especially the 3 yrs bedbound was the worse! I’m not really a depressed person but because of the severity of the pain I had no hope until I learned about Dr Sarno and your daily videos then joining your Coaching Calls! I couldn’t do this alone I needed your guidance and the love and support of the Community! Exactly what you said I had HOPE and left with sadness and then slowly that left too when my MINDSET shifted and my symptoms decreased and I started having JOY! Implement, implement, implement this is the WAY OUT! I have HOPE and JOY and I’m living my life over 10 diagnoses they will all fade away when you neutralize the fear! Thank you Dan and Finny for showing up in the videos❤️

Also I totally agree on depression. I don’t think it’s a disease but it’s a coping strategy our body uses to suppress feelings. Maybe because we weren’t allowed to be ourselves as a kid so to survive we shut down, or maybe because we have so much stress and pain our body shuts down to help us, it’s a nervous system state called deactivation.

A few months ago I was in a deep, dark hole. The darkest hole I've ever been in with no hope and literally frozen with fear. What got me out was learning to find safety. I started praying and asking for help. That helped me alot and I haven't stopped praying. Now my prayers are mainly full of gratitudes. Finding safety at first was hard, but I stuck with it by telling myself I'm safe, surrendering control, connecting to the outside world (time in nature) and finding gratitude for what I did have. It felt like a battle, but I made it through. I'm still moving through my recovery but I have so much more hope than I did and joy actually is showing up more for me these days.

I feel like I’m in a constant battle with my mind. Have struggled with depression and anxiety for many years. It’s very daunting, but doable. When my flares lift, my mood improves, so I know they coincide with one another. Trying to stay as positive as possible. It is a choice, isn’t it? I can’t believe you’re almost at 4 years with daily videos, Dan! Truly a remarkable
feat! You go! Really thankful for you sharing your experience, strength, and Hope with us all. You’re influencing my life for the better. Very excited to be able to get more help by you adding additional group times. It’ll be great, and very helpful, to be able to call in extra times during the week. It's been shown that depression is not caused by low serotonin levels. They knew there was no significant evidence when the first SSRI was released. Dr Rachel Zoffness, a pain psychologist, goes a little more in depth in some of her interviews on CZcams. But when depressed it does take more effort to do this persistently. Or maybe it just feels like it? I did notice right off the bat, that I felt better mentally before feeling feeling better physically, using these techniques. It is a struggle, because of the despondency.🤚❤

I really appreciate the empathy that flows through you because it can and is brutal at times. I really tried to stay calm and surrender to the pain, by that I mean is to simply accept it with calm indifference but I failed! Just curled up in a ball and cried. I’ve dealt w/ depression & anxiety off & on my whole adult life. It “runs in my family” I was told. But deep inside I felt like that wasn’t 100% true. Totally accepting I have TMS in April, joining the group & listening to you Dan I no longer get depressed the way I used to. I get down sometimes but it’s doesn’t last more than a day. I remember having sky high symptoms one day but I forced myself to walk in the woods, as I came out an overwhelming sense of hope warmed my heart. I physically felt terrible in that moment but I KNEW it was going to be ok. I still have symptoms & anxiety but I have so much hope. It’s no longer a matter of IF abut WHEN (tho I’m not looking a the clock.) I trust it will come. Implement, implement, implement.

The Best thing for depression is Gratitude. Just learn to be thankful for Everything You DO Have. Sometimes even being aware that you can be thankful for your next breath. I have actually had to go there..but once you start seeing things to be grateful..more will Come and pretty soon you will be feeling a little better. Don’t focus Too Much on the future..that is just a form of Wanting. Try to Be grateful for what is in the Present! I have been suffering for 30 years. I finally found TMS! I Have Great Hope!

People around me think I should visit real specialists, like i haven’t tried them all during all those years…. What also dosn’t help is that my parents reproach me everytime I have bad flare up and i hate it. I didn’t choose this pain! They explained to me it is only initial reaction which comes out of their frustration and despair with my case and they empathize with me…

Hi Dan. We think different and that's good because I'm not teaching this stuff to anybody thank God and you are thank God. I wanted to share something with you and it's why I'm hesitant to believe and swallow this entire concept hook line and sinker. I'm going to tell you what happened and then you can see it was not Danger perceived and fear. I wear a CPAP machine cuz I was choking all during the night for 10 years as soon as I put the machine on the choking stopped instantly because I wasn't getting enough oxygen. Then about 3 months ago I started getting migraines in the middle of the night and I'm listening to you and I'm doing all the things, changing my perspective my perception etc the best I can and just gently moving in a different direction. but the migraines persisted. To make a long story short I found out that I wasn't using the humidifier in the CPAP machine and I was using a small ceramic heater that I had basically blowing on my body at night. So I spoke to the respiratory therapist who's been doing this for 35 years and she said okay the reason you have the migraines is you need to get rid of that heater completely, you can't have dry heat. And start using the humidifier in the CPAP machine see if you're migraines don't go away. After 2 days of doing that the migraines have never come back. So here's what concerns me, how can you say that all of the stuff including schizophrenia and the different things you bring up are all a response to perceived Danger? This was a real situation and by fixing a couple of things the migraines are now gone. So to me that isn't any belief system change that I made it was an actual physical medical call it what you want reality. I'm not trying to be a pain in your butt I would like you to address things like this. Another one I'm going to bring up because I'm concerned what do and how do I move forward with pain free you. I'm always choking on my food so of course I decided that I am going to look at this as some type of perceived danger response, and fear etc. But then an MRI was done and an ultrasound was done on my throat area and on my thyroid is a mass pretty large. And it's blocking the trachea and the esophagus and that's why I keep choking on food all the time because it's restricted my ability to swallow. Now what the treatment is for that I have no idea yet and I'm certainly not going to do anything that's invasive or what have you cuz I don't believe in that. But what do you say Dan about issues that I am talking to you about? They're not in my head. I want to think they're in my head that's a much better way for me to proceed so I can change it. But a mass growing on my thyroid, not a lot I can do about that. If you would at some point answer or explain how you deal with things that are real and I hear you all the time every day say we all think things are real but they're not but what if they are?? Thank you so much Dan I appreciate what you're about.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před rokem +1

      Hey Kavita:
Some great points and interesting topics for discussion.
I still maintain that any type of symptoms is based on the brain perceiving danger.
Sometimes the danger is in our subconscious unaware to us.
Sometimes it is in our conscious mind and we are aware of it.
Sometimes the danger is an actual threat.
Sometimes the danger is not a real threat and just perceived.
My recommendations to my coaching clients are to:
1. Rule out anything serious, life threatening. Cancers, tumors, fractures, infectious disease.
2. Next we rule IN this thing called TMS/Perceived Danger Pain or Symptoms. We do that by seeing how the symptoms are behaving.
Pain or symptoms created by the brain behave differently than symptoms that are from a true issue.
      To your issues:
The CPAP machine was not being used correctly with humidity. The migraines were a warning signal that something was amiss. Same with the ceramic heater. The migraines were a warning signal.
But why a migraine? Why not a dry throat or dry skin? The brain sensed the danger and the warning signal was the migraine. Perhaps the brain felt a more significant “warning” was required, thus the migraine. Once the “problem” was resolved, the brain decided that the danger was gone and the “warning” signal (the migraine) was no longer required to keep you safe.
The way I see it, the migraine was still in response to danger the brain was perceiving. In your case, changing the use of the CPAP humidifier and turning off the heater allowed the brain to turn off the alarm system.
Regarding the mass in your thyroid, the coughing was still based on the brain perceiving danger which caused you to find out about the mass. The warning system is working perfectly.
As for your path moving forward, there are cases where medical intervention is important and required. In general, even in cases where we need a medical treatment, trusting the body and the process and not adding any unnecessary fear (perceived danger) can always result in a better outcome than fueling the brains perception of danger with a fearful response.
Calm always is a better strategy whether there is a legitimate medical issue or not.
      Hope this makes sense.
      ~Dan
