I would argue not a single trend started out of nowhere because ppl just decided that something is trendy. Most of the time it's companies who sell you the trend OR rich people doing something and the common folk copying it. When we talk about "the culture" influencing trends, we are talking about rich people/celebrity culture.

I 100% agree with you both that the IPSY trends made wayyyy more sense than the Harper’s Bazaar trends. The amount of inside jokes between you two that are revealed as you record cracks me up!! Also, Kevin, a headache around the eye area that extends down to the back of your head/neck is typically due to sinus pain as the ethmoid sinuses are behind your eye & drain toward the back of your head, just fyi. I’ve had so much going on these days and having this time with the both of you every Sunday has not only given me something to look forward too but also gives me an escape I really need. My 56 yr old hubby has prostate cancer and we are right in the thick of treatment. I didn't get into make-up until probably my mid-40s. At that point in life, most "trends" aren't for people of that age. I just do what I want. I'm of the philosophy that life's too short for neutral make-up so I always do colorful eyeshadow. For Thanksgiving two years ago I did a matte red on the outer part of the eye with a gold shimmer in the middle/inner part. I got several compliments on it!
For everyone who needs to know a choke blocks the air and a strangle stops the blood.

I’m into the blushing beauty. My go to is to use my blush on my eyes and just bring it out to my cheeks and up the temple. Iv done it since high school so finally I’m on trend 😊
I have brownish, greenish eyes and purple and green look the best on me! And purple is my favorite color so I'm good! 💜 lol! 😋🙌

I love your podcast. I started watching "this is what it's like to work at "Sephora" over a year ago. I know this is makeup based but I loved hearing about the dating horror stories. I would also like to know what you think is the best way to support someone who is gay and constantly harassed. I hear straight guys constantly saying f*%$ you f@$got and I know it hurts me but me defending him seems to make it worse. I just need to know the best way to support someone going through that

For that monochrome pink look, I remember Judy D got her makeup done in Dubai, I believe it was at Valentino and they were doing that cohesive look with the blush and eyes. I'm not sure what the original reference was, but it reminded me of that
Lollipops sticks also have a hole in them just incase you swallow n choke on it so ur able to still get air flow through the hole!! (Plastic sticks only)!!!
Omg I was 7 months pregnant (so I was huge), and I choked on beef and broccoli Chinese food leftovers. I was home alone with my 18 month old, and you could hear the air hissing around the food because it was lodged. I called 911 because if it moved a little, it would totally block my airway. They couldn't do the heimlich because I was so pregnant.... they had to use this gadget in the ambulance to grab the lodged food. Such a terrifying experience, then my poor little boy had to see the whole thing. I got one of those life vac choking devices you can use on yourself. That saved my ass a few months ago. Highly recommend that thing.

The 80’s and 90’s are coming back apparently because brown was the popular color in makeup unless you were a teenager doing “punk” looks which were bright colors. And the “Solo Shadow” was a thing back then when people would buy (especially Avon) single shadows so they could get the different colors they wanted to mix and match. Then came the duos and quads in complementary colors.
I find myself glowing it UP in winter just to compensate for the cold. Summer is when I bust out the powders babyyyyy
