Doing the route soon. Many thanks for the tips 👍 now to check out your other vids 😀
Great stuff. Useful tips and fantastic informative videos. Have used your nc500 videos and itinerary to plan my trip coming up in 2 weeks. Looking forward to it. 😎 thanks Robbie.
Thank you - I am doing the NC500 (ironically leaving 16 May also). I am travelling solo with my dog and these tips are so useful. I also have your book
Best of luck for the trip 😀
Bring a spade and bucket, biodegradable bags and wipes and bury.
Thanks for the tips they are really useful 👍👍👍
No problem at all I hope you enjoy your trip as and when you do it 👍😃
Thanks - doing the NC500 next week - some very nice tips, ps your videos are very watchable.
Thanks Hazel I hope you have a fantastic trip 😀
Thanks Robbie for an excellent video. I've purchased your book this afternoon so hopefully it will arrive in the next week as we off on the NC500 in September! Kind regards Sidestickflyer
Thanks for your kind words! Your book will be with you Tuesday or Wednesday latest 😵💫
Good set of videos, I’ve found these useful in narrowing down what to visit on our trip later this year 👍🏼
Thanks Phil did you see my most recent trip video (I went in November) there’s a few extra places on there worth looking at 👍
@@robbieroams I watched that too. Good insight in to some of the accommodation available, we will be travelling by car too.
Just watched it in time setting off in 2 days, hope my amazon delivery arrives on time. Great tips thanks bro.
Thanks my friend have a great trip!
Excellent list. Could apply to any road trip. I book accommodation and travel 11 months ahead (most don't allow you to before that). This way I always get the best locations. Just check that they have free cancellations. Am looking forward to doing this trip next year when international travel is back to almost normal, I hope. Yes, your spreadsheet is already helping plan my itinerary. Thanks.
Yes some useful information there Grant, thanks for watching & thanks for your comment. I'm sure international travel will be back where it should be by mid 2022 :)
I go tomorrow and I’ve booked ahead. In a camper van but I’ve booked 2 sites for amenities
Have a great trip Craig 👍
We really enjoyed your videos have found them very useful for our NC500 trip in August, have you any idea when your road map will be going on sale , I think you said to keep a check on Amazon 🏴
Thanks so much for watching! The road map will be on Amazon in the next 2-3 weeks 😀
I had no idea you could download google maps offline. Thanks for the tip!
It's very useful especially in places you can't get phone reception!
Honestly some of the best videos on the NC500, and the Google sheet is amazing too, thank you so much for taking the time for making that and these videos! Super helpful
Also love that this video isn’t those typical tips videos, which is the super obvious stuff, elaborated in 10 different ways. I’m an over planner and this is one of the few videos out there there remind you of those little things you forget! Thank you :)
Thanks Vick have a great trip 🎉✌️
We are going last week in sept 1st week in October all hotels are booked just need to sort out the packing.
Have a great time Jane I think that time of year will be much quieter and you’ll have the beautiful Autumn landscapes to take in 👍
Will you send your travel guide to Australia? 🇦🇺
These tips are gold. Thx Robbie.
Absolutely 👌 No problem at all 😀
@@robbieroams Thx Robbie, can you remind me how to purchase this guide? Do not have Facebook.
Cracking video,, really full of great hints and tips, ( I didn't know you could download Google maps 👍) I plan on doing the Northumberland 250 end of April as a taster for the NC500 at the start of September. Thanks again,,,,,,,,
No problem at all glad you found it useful 👍
How do you do it? I’m trying on my phone but can’t work it out 🥴
@@bigbangr1jason Open the Google maps app, search for a location for example ‘Scotland’ > on the tab where it says ‘Directions’ scroll to the right and you’ll see ‘Download’
Robbie what make is your drone, do you use a separate camera or built in one? Thanks great vids 👌🏾
Hi Jase, it’s the DJI Mavic Pro 2 which has the camera inbuilt.
@robbie thanks again 👍🏾
Although you would think this is common sense, these were Great tips so thanks.
One question I have is when did you go and what are the busiest and least busiest times of year to visit? We are retired so can basically go anytime.
We went in May and also in November. May was starting to get busier although very manageable in terms of traffic and such. You will need to book campsites beforehand in most cases to be on the safe side. November was very very quiet! Most campsites are closed so we did the B and B / hotel routes 👍
Thanks, we will be driving and doing B&B but also in an EV so will need to plan accommodation that allows charging which I hear is reasonably common now. Cheers
good tips Robbie, i was thinking of doing this alone in mid november alone am i being stupid or is this an ok time to go?
We’re here doing it again right now (November) and it’s been a lot quieter on the roads and stop offs, there aren’t as many cafes, restaurants and pubs etc open so as long as you plan ahead you will be fine!
@@robbieroams how's the weather and conditions like that's my main concern was thinking of sleeping in my car
@@kmtb2011 the weather has been changing every 30 minutes, we’ve had some rough wind and rain. Unless you have a proper diesel heater in your car I’m not sure it would be the warmest or most comfortable solution but I’m sure you may prove me wrong 😂
I was renting a camper, not self sufficient tho and was told I can pull over anywhere within reason and sleep in van for the night?
It’s a very tricky subject that doesn’t go down to well with the locals. If you’re out of sight of homes and off the main road leaving no trace behind you then there shouldn’t be an issue.
Can you car camp wild on the nc500
It’s a tricky subject - always best to use campsites where possible, always respect the Scottish Outdoor Access Code when camping 👍
“….once in a lifetime adventure”. Unless you do it twice. Like me.
Couldn’t resist another go?
Hi,
Are there petrol stations along the route and easy to get to?
Thank you
There are a lot of them along the way, it’s just always best to make sure once you get below a certain level of fuel that you top up again (just so you don’t get in a tricky situation and start worrying).
@@robbieroams Thank you very much 😊
Ever since the "NC500" started, I've seen dumped and burnt out cars, graffiti, litter dumping, chemical toilet dumping, high speed sports cars and bikes racing on single track roads.
NONSENSE..... I LIVE HERE
Portable toilet. Earth is my toilet and my excrement is biodegradable. No thank you. Just ensure your bury it.
