I borrowed one of the best drivers cars available, the manual Porsche Cayman GT4 and headed up to Scotland with SCC Private Members for their Highlands and North Coast 500 driving tour.
In this video we head over Applecross Pass, visit John O'Groats and get blown away by Glencoe. I wasn't prepared for the stunning roads, scenery or the rain ! I was joined by some pretty special cars, a McLaren 600LT, Ferrari 488 70th Anniversary, Ferrari 812 GTS, Jaguar Project 8, Porsche 911 GT3, AMG GTC, Audi V10 R8 and of course 'Team B' !
Check out SCC Private Members for more information about membership and their amazing driving tours. A huge thanks the Marcus Perkins for the incredible drone footage that really make this film.

Glad you enjoyed my old stamping ground. When I lived there, I covered the entire NW Highland road network dozens of times for work and leisure. It was always best in a good turbo-diesel like My Renault 19 that romped up hills and returned an easy 55+ mpg.

When the US Naval base was there in Dunoon, there was a Dunkin Donuts shack just before the ferry entry...always a must with the kids for the journey home...last time we was there waiting for the Donuts, out of the Sea mist glided a US nuclear sub to moor along side the service ship...cherry on the cake...epic roads that side of the country.

Done this with 17 Cars in our party all the same make. It was brilliant and around 24c Blue Sky. The coast road just gets better and better. Did it with this party all the way past Durness to Tongue and back. Done it many times to the point I know every twist and turn. Take it lunch was at the Inn 😁 Just watch out for the highland cooos 👍 Cows are so used to it. Shame the weather closed in. I’ve always been lucky but the very first year we did it the four days were a heat wave or In scotland when we get two weeks of stunning weather Summer 😁 But the Road from Ullapool to Durness is stunning as well.

Southerners venturing north of the M4 corridor and seeing new things in wonderment and awe - is like a child seeing their first ever snowfall. Oooohhh look Mummy, a coooo!! I think Wales has better roads and is prettier. It's not as dramatic as Glencoe, but it is greener, has better weather and is generally more beautiful. Northwest Wales can rival most of Scotland and it doesn't take forever to get there for most.

Thankfully I only grew up there and I am a West Coast boy unfortunately Africa not Scotland but having spent the last 21 years in the West of Scotland I agree with you the scenery in the middle to west is probably the best Scotland has to offer and if you ever make it out to the Western Isles they are off the scale for scenery. Oh yes! Indeed some really do 😬
However, presumably it is the Scottish Government who put up all the signs for the NC500 (if not the local authority) in order to encourage tourism. So The tourists cannot be blamed for being there
Therefore complaints about tourist numbers should be addressed with the authorities and not by getting annoyed at those visitors who genuinely want to explore the beautiful Scottish countryside
What is *important* is that visitors treat the area with absolute respect. Hopefully then there is no justification for animosity.

Do you know what those tall poles are for next to the road? I do. There for snowplows. Look up the heights paved road in America and it will be Trail Ridge Road in Colorado. Your music gets real loud between bits, too loud at times.
Nov 6, 21 and we have good Scottish weather this weekend.

Hi Pete, looks amazing. I’d love to drive that route. Do you have a map of the route you took?

      Just look up the Nc500
      There’s really only one route
(With a couple of loops you can choose to do or not ,applecross being one, drumbeg being the other )
Personally I’d just go as far as Durness ,gets less epic after that

Great video, but dam you Petrol Ped all I want to do now is jump in my Boxster and drive the NC500 again. There are simply no better roads or scenery in the UK, if there is please let me know as I need to go there.

Car Throttle is doing this in £500 cars, it's good to watch this from different channels and totally different price ranges.

Two amazing videos and the scenery is indescribably stunning. Thanks for sharing the trip.
Hopefully someone will answer a quick question, what is the feint line that runs vertically down the centre of the windscreen, is it a reflection or something else ?

Not entirely sure but my guess would be an antenna for either the radio or the phone 🤔

@@PetrolPed Thanks for the quick reply. I’m assuming not visible from the drivers seat and just on the camera, it would make me grind my teeth at night seeing it all the time and make me wish I’d bought that wonderful Aston Martin.
