Good luck. May the gods look over you 🙏🏻
How's it going so far?
@@AlexanderTravelbum I Survived and had a crazy amazing time. Couchsurfing is the only way to travel oh my gosh!
Casandra Ramsey what’d you spend most of the money on?
@@elijah2405 I had Eurail so the reservation fees with that and food. I mostly stayed with friends and couch surfed. I only used Hostels in 3/15 cities
I went to Poland for a week on a whim because I had a week off work. The flight wasn’t cheap, from Toronto, but the week there was. I did all the free museums and ate the street food, because it was June. Nice weather. My hostel room was dirt cheap and it was private with my own washroom. Eastern Europe is so fabulous.
Hey great to hear! I'm going to backpack with 4 friends once high school is done!
Which hostel did you stay at?
@@maximusdellaquila yes but from there its eastern europe. And also they stole germany
which city are you?
Go to Kraków, not Warsaw. Croatia would be my choice tho. Much more beautiful and better weather.
I planned a two month trip across Europe. Im averaging about 2500 a month including hostels and transportation. I left most of my trip flexible but i did buy train tickets in advance! I found that the tours I really wanted to do or activities it is just best to book from the official website. You save anywhere from $50-$75 dollars
In 2017 I had 40 days summer trip where my friend and I spent 450€ each (and 180€ for 5 flights and one bus ticket)
Everything you need is just a good plan, positive mindset and all the applications that might help you to save up your money! :)
Exactly ✊🏻
South is cheaper doesn't apply to the UK. The North is far cheaper
Great tips! I did Europe for 5 months from Sep '18 to Feb '19, and I spent on average €1000 per month.
I did all of Europe, except Finland, the Baltics, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. I managed to go cheap even in the UK and Scandinavia. So as much as possible don't limit yourselves to just the cheap countries!
@@someone_5870 I stayed mostly in hostels and did lots of Couchsurfing as well.
I travel by the cheapest ways possible, by bus, ridesharing, and sometimes hitchhiking. I don't take trains unless there's no cheaper option, as they're usually more costly than buses.
@@someone_5870 more like plan 1 to 2 days in advance. But be flexible
I always wanted to backpack travel but I’m a little afraid of doing it alone and none of my friends want to do it with me so I’m going to have to do it alone, which I don’t mind but is still a little scary to do for the first time alone but I can’t wait to plan a trip and see how it goes
Do it alone! I started out alone at 22. And I’ve loved it ever since. I’ve met many solo female travelers as well in Europe and Southeast Asia. You won’t be alone, you meet a lot of good people when you travel
Crystal Rivera me too! I’m gonna be 18 when I go (taking a gap year haha) and none of my friends wanna go but going alone kinda freaks me out😂
@@jennifervelyvis6372 I thought about getting a gap year but couldn't do it so when I have enough money I'll probably doing in summer time but is scary to think doing it alone like I wish my friends would go but they also don't want to and I don't know anybody else
Crystal Rivera what month are you going?
@@jennifervelyvis6372 Me tooo! Can't take a gap year but going to use my summer well.
THESE ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST TIPS I HAVE FOUND !! Thank you thank youuuu
Such great advice in this video! Any person planning to travel for an extended period of time will love this. 👌- Trevor
Thanks Trevor!
In planning a 30 day trip to Europe in September and so far your channel has been the most helpful. Thanks Alex!
Thanks for the advice, planning on making this trip next year and bringing some friends with me. It's going to be great! Appreciate the information in detail, its easy to make a list, but for someone unfamiliar with Europe (never been) you provide what countries and activities in details. If I go, without a doubt this video will have been the biggest help
Awesome man, glad to help! Feel free to save it and use it again before you leave
Nice advice bro, I didn't think you could do europe that cheap :D
Man, I am going to do this exact same thing January next year!! And you fit my budget, my time length and the areas I want to visit, AWESOME!

I’m planning a one year trip across all of Europe, wish me luck I’m getting tickets this January like he said
Same
Did u go... With the whole covid thing... Or have u postponed
*in Spain you can eat and drink all you want for about 5 euros a day!*
_Granada and Seville for example give you a free tapas when you buy a coffee or a beer or soda, you pay between 1,5 to 2 euros for everything._
_A tapas is a meal that is not sweet. it can be a chicken leg with some potatoes , a tuna salad a sandwich etc_
_not all cities have this tradition, and it is no logic that decides where it exists. i lived in Spain for two years and i never got why they have these traditions in only some places_
_you never find that tradition on Costa del sol, only in the cities north of the coast._
You can't or you can? Ears or years?

Couch surfing sounds great but scary at the same time lol or is it just me?
Yes it can be, but if you’re careful and talk a lot to the host before staying, you can usually get a pretty good idea of the person
Yea... one of the only bad things about being a chick
It's scary because we're women..
@@merle0388 you should just get a hotel. Don't risk it. People in this world are evil
Yeah It does and me as a women I prefer to pay a little bit more for a hostel or airbnb and be safer!

Thanks man ✊🏻
Can’t wait to get out to Alaska. Planning on it in 5 or 6 months
you should wait till next summer, winters here are long and boring unless thats your thing lol
Great tips, thank you! Did you happen to make that travel debit/credit card video?
Thanks! I actually haven’t, I wasn’t sure if anyone would actually be interested in it. I guess I should
Alexander Travelbum yes plëëase do! I’m interested 🙋🏻♀️I’m going to Spain for 4 months to study abroad and then I will be backpacking Europe for 3 more. Would love more information on budgeting so anything helps!! Thank you for this video it was quite helpful 😊
Wow, I didn’t realize this was ever possible... Eurorail might be cool! I really like to save a few bucks
Wanna Wander its very possible
I am quite sure that 1000 USD per month is possible in case that one avoids all the Nordic countries, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and some of the capitals such as Rome, London and Paris. The Cheapest place in Europe that I know of is Ukraine. There is a price comparison site called Numbeo that do quite a good job with comparing cost of living in various areas around the world. Tipping is a very american thing, and is not as common in most places in Europe. A waiter's salary is not based on tipping and especially in the west the waiters usually have quite decent basic salaries.
Thank you, it’s definitely possible but it’s not really easy and simple to do. If you take into account the average dorm hostel in a lot of Europe at around $15 a night, that’s almost half your money right there. Plus if you’re traveling a few countries each month, you have to add the transportation costs which can easily get into the hundreds for trains, and then eating 3 meals a day plus some drinks every now and then. Most people I know go to Europe and spend $1000 in 3 or 4 days
Thanks for the video, great stuff. FYI, your link for the Passport Wallet is actually for a Go-Pro accessory.
Ah thanks for telling me, I’ll switch it out now
workaway is also there
Hey alex I've been subbed for quite awhile! Love the videos, I'm planning on going to croatia, greece slovenia and italy for roughly 6 weeks during the summer. I'm a broke student who's trying to save enough to go in this epic trip once I'm done highschool Yay!! But I realize that travelling is super expensive.. what would be a reasonable amount I'd need to save to do this trip comfortably? In USD. Thanks for your amazing help
So 6 weeks is about a month and a half, so it just depends if you’re going to be drinking and partying a lot, doing a lot of boat tours and things like that. Because those things can get you to thousands a month real fast. I traveled Europe on less than $1,000 a month but it was an extreme budget. You can do it like this but if you want to be comfortable, I’d say go over there with $2-5K. If you don’t want money to affect your decisions, then closer to the top of that. Hope this helps
@@AlexanderTravelbum yes that helps amazingly! You're super cool man. You seem like an awesome person to travel with! Keep the content rolling :)
Really good advice! I haven't done any traveling but hoping to backpack Europe at some point. Couch surfing seems like a good option but I'm concerned doing that as a young female solo backpackers. How safe would you say couch surfing is?
I can feel ya..im really planning to travel Europe since none of my friends are interested. Couchsurfing seems budget friendly but im not confident since im only 19🙄
the essential key is to read the comments other female travellers have made concerning the host. that way, couchsurfing is a good option and can be cost effective. happy travels :)
I live in Ireland and I’ve been to most eu countries and some of this isn’t so true but some of is but food vid overall
Great
my question is, what do you do with your day pack and regular pack?
The country that doesn't match up with the 'travel south' idea? Croatia. Split, Hvar, Korčula and Dubrovnik are way more expensive than Zagreb
Add to the fact that Dubrovnik is expensive AF.
nice
I’m new I like video
I'm going to France around the end of May for 7 days but I want to extend my trip so I can be able to visit Amsterdam, Spain, and maybe Portugal... depending on the budget (I have $3,000). I'm thankful that I have a friend who lives outside of Paris that will let me stay with him free of charge for as long as I want but I want to be able to see other places in and around France and the neighboring countries. No plan yet and I leave in 25 days the pressure is real...... IDK what to do?
I like your accent. Are you Canadian?
When you go to the less touristy places, how do you handle the language barrier if you don't know their language?
Hello! I also like to travel a lot. This summer i went 1 week in Spain(Barcelona and Valencia) and spent a lot more. In your video you said you should avoid turistic locations. What is the point of visiting Barcelona let's say, if you wont visit Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and a lot of other attractions given you dont have the money to visit them?
You can admire sagrada familia from the outside. Park Guell was only 8 euros if I remember correctly.
Hi,
I am planning to go for a tour to many countries on europe. How does the flight work. One way can be taken ? Or is it a must to take a two way. Any suggestions
Don't eat out much, there are supermarkets everywhere, so if you don't have enough for too much, do that.
Is there a global sim card with 3g?
Or what is the best sim card in Europe for internet..?
I hear Eastern European countries are great for someone who is a student or someone who doesn’t have a very large salary. Maybe that’s the case for Southern Europe too?
From what I’ve explored, that can be true. Of course not in all cases, but eastern, and then southern for budget travel. When you go west and/or north, you’re getting a batch of some of the most expensive countries in the world
I am traveling 8 countries in Europe in 6 months. I am traveling alone and I am looking forward to it. Is traveling with like contiki the best option?
this year iv been in 8 countrys . and i cant stop thinking about where to next 😃
How did it went? :D
Watching this during Covid hurts
I'm doing 25 days in egypt and 12 days in South Korea next year
That sounds awesome
do you guys think it's possible to travel from oslo, through denmark, through germany, across austria and into croatia on electric mountain bikes? (Thinking 6 months and 15000 dollars for two of us?
Her the europass and see everything
Okay this is extremely random but you look so similar to the actor Justin Chatwin.
Back on track, this video was very informative and helped me plan a lot for my future trip to Europe.
Haha yeah, I actually just watched all of Shameless last year. My friends, and I even felt like I was watching a version of myself. Anyway, glad to help!
What would you recommend for a summer Europe travel budget? Also what do you recommend for packing essentials?
3 months? I have a couple videos linked up about budget travel in Europe, you should check them out. On the very low end, I did $1,000usd per month
Alex Travelbum Thanks for the reply! I’ll be doing a study abroad program in Budapest throughout June then I’m going to take 3 weeks to actually backpack Europe. I plan on buying a Eurail pass but are there any destinations I absolutely need to visit? I want to keep it around a $1200/month budget, but I also don’t want to sacrifice fun experiences. Any advice would be great!
Eastern Europe is much cheaper for the most part. More adventure, less tourists. I love it. But if you haven’t been to Europe before and won’t go back soon, of course at some point in your life you must see Paris, London, Rome. But they are more expensive. After traveling a lot of Europe many many times, I would suggest any of these: countries - Italy, Spain, Turkey, Croatia, Portugal. Cities - Rome Italy, Madrid Spain, Lisbon Portugal, London, Berlin Germany, Prague, Amsterdam, Split Croatia. I have 2 videos about my favorite travel experiences and places I’ve found, I show a few things there. That will be an amazing experience, good luck
I live in Europe so flights are very cheap, I’m gonna fly to Amsterdam for an event and backpack home to Copenhagen
I want to try this but I’m so scared, and I’ve never been anywhere but California
You can do it.
I’m looking to travel around the world, well. South east Asia, some bits of America, maybe Australia. Japan. And some bits of Europe as well. Can anyone give me legit advice on how much money I need to save. That’s all I need to know, I want to explore there comfortably, staying in hostels etc.
Name what countries you’ve gone to I have been to us and Mexico and Canada
Can I get some advice? im gonna be 16 this summer. And im traveling the world for 3 months. Alone, most of the time. Im fluent in spanish and english, and only have 4,000 dollars. First things first, I wanna base jump and skydive. I already have alot of experience cliff jumping (Im from maui, Hawaii) And i surf too. Generally athletic and hopefully levelheaded, any spots u guys know? How am I gonna get a skydiving license with only 4k? How muchs a parachute? I have friends in greece, and spain?
