I love obasanjo and whoever doesn't understand what he did is not enlightened... If a governor by position enters an arena, he deserves respect and we need to stand up and appreciate his presence and likewise a governor can also stand up or bow for a monarch in respect... In all of these baba I saying respect is reciprocal

No body in Britain will ever ask King Charles to stand up for the prime minister.

It's unfortunate that Yoruba younger generation doesn't even know what is right nor wrong.
If I may ask us, WHO gave all this Kings their staff of office?? The Governor.
WHO can suspend any of these Kings and even. banished them from their domains? The Governor Abi?
Our current constitution does not place a King above the governors. So why are you guys angry unnecessarily?
Again Obasanjo at his age is the best to do the correction that he did.
    It's not against Yoruba culture.
What is against our culture is your contumely rhapsodical bulletins and nuances against the old man.

Nobody respects Royal Fathers as much as OBJ. He who could come from as far as Ogun State to prostrate before the youngest king ! In fact, OBJ is not a human being but a Super Angel of God. How can the greatest still be the humblest at the same time ? All the OBJ was saying was that every authority must be given due respect and honour at his place of work. If a young boy is allowed to lead a corrus ,as long as he is on the stage, every other peoples including kings must obey his commandments: Stand up ! Clap for Jesus ! Sing ! Sit down ! etc. So, the Governor deserved so much respect from the kings as OBJ said, not humiliating the kings at all.

Our Royal Fathers have left their own work and responsibilities for entertainment. They are interested in big palaces and town halls for entertainment instead of Royal Farms which can employ every unemployed people in their Kingdoms. In the days of their forefathers, every citizen must work assiduously before eating including the most disabled people. That a part of the body is useless doesn't mean that all other parts of the body are useless. All the disabled worked well in the shrines before eating and that was why they were called people of lesser gods and given so much honour. Number one responsibility of a king and his chiefs is to make sure that every citizen is gainfully employed a producing industry like farming, not talking industry. Their forefathers hated talking industry and entertainment so much. Nobody should beg in the street except the noble praise singers who were the custodians of History and Oral Traditions. OBJ is very proud to be a farmer and most of the ordinary people are too ashamed of becoming farmers. All they want are white collar jobs. It the Royal Fathers that put governments into big trouble. If the Royal Fathers had employed all the unemployed people on the farm, the government would have gotten enough money to offset the huge lones and develop the nation.

Funny thing is ooni will stand up to recognise your presence as a governor... A governor is the number one citizen of the state, although it dosent make monarchs inferior, respect is reciprocal

While I concur with ur submission that the Governor is the number 1 citizen of the state, you’re also right that the monarch might have stood up to show respect. Fact still remains that obasanjo’s gesture is very demeaning and condescending. What political office does he hold presently??

Igbo hater, may Igbo issues continue to be your nightmare.
As of today 16th sept. 2023, Igbos make 45% of Lagos state population. Yoruba, Hausa and others make 55% of Lagos, which means Igbos are now the MAJORITY and Yorubas the MINORITY in Lagos.
I can assure you that it won't be long before an Igbo man becomes the governor of Lagos state.
