Religions Expanded is a great mod. I use it in every game. It lets you control the number of religions in the game and adds a few more pantheons and religious belief options so that there's a little more variety.
The only thing I hate about that mod is that the AI always votes "no great prophet points" in the world congress 100% of the time (even if every civ already has founded their religion) and also you have to spend half of your faith on apostles and inquisitors to defend your own land from the AI.
@@bigfudge2031 they won't vote like that if the amount of religions is less than or (I think) equal to the player amount. But as the default setting is always 16 religions if you don't change it they will always vote for the prophet point ban
@@bigfudge2031 The option to ban great prophets disappears if all the prophets are gone. Are you adding too many religions for the number of civilizations in your games? Wanted to develop Potato's explanation about tourism a little bit further. So, instead of needing a fix number of 1600 tourism against a civilization to steal one tourist, instead, you need 200.n, where "n" is the number of players in the game. So, in Potato's current game, he needs 1600 tourism to attract a tourist. If his game had 7 players, or if one of the players was killed, he would instead need 1400 tourism to attract a tourist to his empire. Edit: If you kill a civilization, the tourism required won't diminish, it will stay the same number from te start of the game. Thank you @blaubeer8039 for correcting me
@@John9450 I don't actually know. But you can always test it on your games by dividing your accumulated tourism on one civilization per the amount of tourists you have attracted from the same civ.
@@marcosr.8115 isn’t it still 1600 even if a civ died? I’m pretty sure you still need the same tourism when civs die but it becomes harder because you’re not getting tourists from dead civilizations.

Honestly, some of the most fun I've had with civ as a whole is trying to optimize off-meta civ5 by making a wide empire (liberty start) as effective as possible, especially with more than the "optimal" number of cities. For example, the pantheon that gives +2 science for city connections is really good for that, especially since connecting your cities via roads helps your gold (by default) and happiness (thanks to Liberty) substantially when doing so. Plus, there's a bit of synergy with Commerce giving extra gold from city connections and generally allowing you to produce a ton of gold as a whole, although that does come in direct competition with Rationalism which is just crazy good as a policy tree. Would definitely be fun to see some civ5, especially (but not necessarily!) off-meta shenanigans.
Really enjoying this series. The new civs have been overall really fun so far, and I’m glad Firaxis is closing out Civ 6 on a high note. Once all the new civs have been released would you consider doing a tier list? I always enjoy a good tier list.
Hey potato, love your stuff. Been playing since civ 1 back in 92. I think a civ 5 run would fun, especially with the civ 7 announcement. It'll be cool to see how much changed from 5 to 6, helps build anticipation for the changes to come.
You are probably the fastest english speaker that i can understand perfecly :D got civ6 fever after several years not playing and now catching up whats new!
I’d love to see a civ v series. V was my first civ game and I’ve always enjoyed it. Never got quite as good at it as vi, but I have beaten it on deity (with a bit of stacking the odds in my favor).
it's you! you're the reason why I say raw chopping! Civ5 would be super neat to see. No districts and the horror of managing happiness. I WONDER WHAT CULTURE TREES YOU'D START WITH
What are you talking about Civ V defining one unit per tile? It was Civ, Colonization, Civilization 2 staple. Call To Power tried multiple units per tile (up to 12), but Civ 3 went right back to one per tile because it was always Sid himself who opposed multiple units per tile. Yes, there were some stupid possibilities of having two-three occupying one tile, but fighting and killing one would kill all so that was arguably a bug not a feature. You can say Civ3 started unique units, Civ4 religions and Civ5 pantheons into custom religions.
19:59 Thank you for doing this. Expanded game modes tend to be rather samey, they tend to heavily focus the game around the features of those game modes. Like finding Voidsingers/Vampires asap then build the old god obelisks. Or finding Hercules and Himiko fast enough etc. Those game features are jus tso damn powerful they become the focus of the game. Which isn't bad by the way but at that point the your choice of Civ/leader/build is way less important.
it is amazing to watch your deep understanding of the game. watching you pull that golden age out of your ass so quickly with 7 turns remaining was mind numbing!

What's more, he also made some complementary mods such as extended alliances or new policy cards. In my opinion, such a modified series would be excellent :)

As long as it isn't a religion game though :)

I'd also like to see Civ5 and you'll probably want the Enhanced User Interface (EUI) mod. The problem with Vox Populi is that the streams I've seen using it are something like 10x the amount of time invested per game.
28:50 I think if you use an example with 50% discount it becomes easier to explain. If something is half-price (50%), paying the same amount as the full price (100%) now gets you twice as much. 100%/50% = 2.
With the discount maths, you're right but your explanation wasn't great. A better way to think of it is if something is base cost 100, then 4 of them cost 400. With 20% discount they cost 80, so 5 cost 400. So you can buy 5 for the price of 4, a more obvious 25% increase.
