Barbados can be pretty expensive but worth it
Tell me !
Was there last week and some of the food prices were astronomical. Ridiculously high.
I'd for sure only buy meat and cook my home grown veg.
I can live without sodas, sweets etc.
So you see how we that lives here feelsâ everyday .Its ridiculous heređ€Šââïžđ€ŠââïžBut where good over heređ€Šââïž@@darkcharmrecords

Thank you Jamie for your great videos, very informative. I was thinking of starting a business in information technology right there in Barbados. Please can you share any insight or make a video starting a business in Barbabos?
Hm, Iâm not too familiar with the process of starting a business but perhaps you can get in touch with the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries. They may be able to give you information on how to get started. Good luck!
Very nice analysis about barbodos
On point every single way.
I am from Barbados đ§đ§ and I really love your video
Is it easy to find a job there if youre a foreigner?
@alaa I think it depends on the sector youâre in.
Thanks for making that video
thank you you were very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Moving in October!
Did you move there ?
@@michellecox1838 Yeah! I lived there for 10 months!
Did you inky plan for 10 months and would you recommend
@@michellecox1838 I thought Iâd stay for about 4 months and stayed way longer. I definitely recommend staying on the South coast. Rockley golf course is a fantastic option. I used Airbnb the entire time. If not there somewhere near the water in Hastings. I didnât have a car for the first 6 months but definitely recommend if itâs in the budget. It not required but nice to have. Also deff try surfing! My fav for lessons is Barryâs Surf School. đ§đ§
Looking forward to part 2..lol
Good information â€â€â€
I should have been there by now! The plan was to sell up in the UK and move to Barbados around July this year (I got my citizenship last year). But, COVID hit literally the week my house went on the market!! đą But, itâs sold now and should be completed in a few months!! đđœ So, Iâm currently looking for a place to buy in St. James and hopefully Iâll be settled in by the end of the year!!
Glad itâs working out in the end for you. Good luck!
Did you make the move ?
@@michellecox1838 - Yes. Been here for two weeks now. Got a car, found a house and now Iâm just waiting for the sale to go through! Life is good!! How are things with you?
@mikey how is it going living in Barbados? I am thinking of doing university there. Wondering how costly living may be!
@@suni9625 Hi, itâs going well and Iâm loving it! The cost of living is pretty high. I canât believe the prices of some of the groceries in places like Massy and eating out. But, I suppose every country has its pros & cons
@Jamie Rocke Please help me find out which flight is going to Barbados đ§đ§ from any west Africa country please
My great grandparents are originally from Barbados and Trinidad. We still have family that reside there. Iâm thinking about doing this sometime soon
Nice!
You dont have to get the welcome stamp if u have family that are bajans
Hi thanks for this video. What are some job options and their wage rate?
Hi Jamie,
Where we find nice rentals. Which places are best to live?
Hej Jamie, thank you for this video, it's very helpful! Do you know how long the usual wait is for the approval of the welcome stamp?
Just found the info on the website.. Thanks again!
Great!
Please can you share me the website
Thank you for the information! My husband and I are going to Barbados via the welcome visa this month. Wondering if we want to stay for another year and apply for the welcome visa again, do we need to pay tax? As I know the welcome visa doesn't require tax liability.
Youâre welcome! Great question. If you reapply for the welcome stamp and itâs approved you wonât have to pay taxes. If you stay here on a work visa, then I think thatâs when the need to pay taxes kick in. Hope this helps!
Jamie Rocke So helpful! Thank you
đ„đ
U 're so pretty reasonable making a lot of senses...
For Kenyan's it's free visa and period of staying is 6 months only
Loved this video!can you please reshare the housing websites?

Hi Jamie, for those with the Caricom skills certificate and who may have found a job in Barbados. How does it work in terms of using the certificate and being able to begin work also. Also, any advise in leasing/buying an affordable vehicle, what companies are the best one to do this with?
Hey Melissa, when I moved, even tho I had a skills certificate from Belize I still had to apply for one through the Barbados Accreditation Council. It took about 8 weeks, costs $100 and youâll need a police report. After you get the certificate, you take it to immigration and they put a stamp in your passport which allows you to be a resident. In terms of getting a car, I donât know of any leasing company, Iâd say check Facebook to buy a car and get financing. Signia and Capita are great financing options. I hope this helps!
@@jamierocke thank you for your response. So would I be able to work on my original skills certificate until I get the one from the Barbados Accreditation Council or do I have to wait the 8 weeks until I get the one from BAC to be able to work?
You should be able to. I was working at UWI with my certificate from Belize and then took in the Bajan one when I got it.
@@jamierocke thank you so much your response has been very helpful!
Thanks for this video. Shortly I'll move there, I wanna see the reality if I can settle down there or not. Anyway your video motivates me to go there and enjoy my time.
Good luck!

Iâm curious if you stay the requirement to apply to be a Barbados citizen coming from America and you travel back to America to visit or something would have to carry some type of papers around with you
Usually the department of immigration will give you a letter. Just be sure to ask them to provide you with documentation so that you can travel easily. Good luck!

Ok
Thank you for the suggestions because yes, I wonder who will care for my plants. lol I had been wanting to make a short term move to try BBD out right before lockdown which obviously never happened. I'm wondering, do I HAVE to apply for a visa (any) prior entering if I plan on staying longer than 30 days? Say my return ticket is three months apart... If I apply for a visa and get accepted, would I need to purchase a return ticket prior to arriving? I will be coming from the USVI. Also, how is the bilingual spanish speaking community there? Do you find there are job openings that ask for this skill? I have so many questions lol I've done my reading, but it is still confusing.
If youâre a Caricom National, you should be able to apply for the Caricom certificate of skills. With that you donât need a visa. If you arenât, I suggest you send an enquiry to the Immigration department. Their address is immigration.department@barbados.gov.bb
Great video ,how do I get the 12 months welcome stamp

Hey Jamie! what were some of the challenges of living in BIM?
Hey Shania! There werenât many⊠Iâd say the cost of living is the biggest challenge; getting around can be challenging if you donât have your own transportation; the cultural differences can require some acclimation and can be a challenging thing to get used to. Those were the main ones Iâd say.
Thanks so much getting back to me!! âšđđŸ@@jamierocke

Hello, how easy is it to get unskilled jobs
I'm Ghanaian and I want to come to Barbados and I want to no if I can get a good job

Barbados doesnât issue visas on arrival. If youâre coming from Nigeria you can stay as a visitor for up to 6 months I believe.
@@jamierocke itâs possible to get your WhatsApp number or email address?
Hello! Thanks for the helpful video! You mentioned if you're there for more than a year, you'll have to start paying taxes. Does this apply if you're extending the Welcome Stamp for a second year?
I donât think so! I meant if youâre staying longer than the allowed time under the WS, it means youâre probably on a working visa which means youâd have to start paying taxes. đ
Help me out?how much usd i need to stay 1month? I just want to party for 1month
Are they welcoming to young English women? I am 18 and would be looking to move there when I am 19/20 but have heard they do not like foreigners
Not sure where you heard that, but for sure youâd be welcomed. I think Bajans are just always curious about âforeignersâ in general. I went for university when I was 19, and I was fine. Good luck đ
Very different

How long can you be if you want to become a citizen?
Hmm Iâm not sure about citizenship (getting a Barbadian passport). But, you can earn residency very quickly if you are a citizen of another CARICOM country. All youâd need is a CSME skills certificate and youâll receive a Barbados residency stamp in your home country passport. This was my case.
