  • Vulcan Tech Gospel is a comprehensive system of resources for understanding transitions with poi and other flow arts props using timing and direction as well as transitions between different types of flowers. In this video, I explain VTG for the lay person using computer graphics and demonstration. To find out more about VTG, visit these resources:

Wow, Drex, I don't always comment to your videos but this is the most comprehensive, clear, and concise description I've ever come across online...pretty work bud!

I appreciate the amount of thought and insight that goes into making a video on such fundamental movement patterns.
I wonder how to note both hands and props at the same time using the glyphs if they have potentially different timing or direction. Do two pairs of glyphs represent each basic flower?
Or maybe you start with one timing and direction and the hand changes could shift the props in only one of two ways....

Why do you show tog-opp arms in wall-plane? :
    - where it is awkward,
    - has no chance of aligning both hand-paths on a single circle for the viewer (rather it's 2 circles 1shoulder-width apart),
    - and is even a health concern possibly agitating shoulder impingements if over used
    ???
If you emphasize its more natural default as being performed in wheel plane it is more ergonomic, can look better for hand-path circular alignment, and also it's relations to split-same will become much more apparent, since split-same arms must be completed in wheel-plane.

Of course you can also show it has a possible wall-plane option if you are willing to mesh the hands, but man it really puzzles me that so many tech spinners seem to take the lazy way that facing a camera seems to instill by doing tog-opp in wall plane so much, when wheel plan seems so much more ergonomic and aesthetically more pleasing, plus opens you up to the natural turns and transitions in a full range more poi motion that can incorporate more footwork and dance, while doing techy patterns.
I mean i get it, it's less confusing, easier to visualize for the body-mind's-eye, and makes it easier to look in the mirror, but cummon guys, if you are tech spinners do the hard work and get proficient enough to demonstrate tog-opp arm moves in wheel plane. :-P
