I am not with child. The style of dress just makes the waist look really puffy no matter how thin a person is. I'm sorry to disappoint anyone. The amount of "are you pregnant" comments has been very high!
The way how you kept looking over your shoulder at him, all blushingly luvvie duvvie, after the two of you stole a kiss, wouldn't surprise me if you will be celebrating Christmas 2022 with a third little creature :) Anyway, lovely vid, but too shorttttt! :) Love these oldfashioned traditional decorations, our place is full of it every year, so much nicer than all that commercial modern crap
There's always people that are just dying to find out someone else is pregnant. I don't get it. It happened to me too. About a month after giving birth I had a sour stomach one morning. By the end of the day my husband's grandmother had called everyone in the family with the news I was pregnant again. She actually got mad at me because she had to explain to everybody how she had jumped to conclusions. 😂
I do living history of civil war era and yes I know all about those high waists .. and a hoop NEVER helps .. lol
Its an empire style which does not have a "normal" waist line as we are used to and folks just assume that there is a reason for that silhouette. Thank you so much for inviting us to visit and watch the decorating. Your furniture is sturdier than I thought watching Ron on top hanging garlands. You two are so dear together. Such a heart-warming video, it does one good to see that we don't need anything fancy or lots of glitter and lights to make a cozy and festive room. This Christmas will be extra special with both of you in it!
That fireplace is "lots of glitter and lights" all by itself
Some, like me, have central heating. Late Christmas Eve I usually finish off whatever wrapping I have to do and arrange the gifts round the tree. I then settle down with a hot, spicey, non-alcoholic drink, (anything alcoholic would just keep me awake,) a piece of stollen and a quiet CZcams Christmas fireplace video. I toast in the day before heading off to bed. Best sleep ever, best start to Christmas. Next morning? Full on Christmas tunes at high volume! I pitty my neighbours. 😂
After a stressful day, sitting down to watch this, is definitely free therapy! The cabin looks lovely!!

those dried ingredients also work in wine I read! Thank you about my kitty I looked some more for her today and have returned empty handed. I am now certain that she isn't in the area anymore :( she has gone far. I pray that she's still alive. I feel so sorry for her especially because it is winter and the nights get down to 20 F. I won't give up but it is also up to her to return to me if she has gone that far.
@@EarlyAmerican Don't despair. My very first kitty ran off right before I moved. I looked and looked, put up flyers and made trips over to the old place every day, but to no avail. Months went by. Then one day I got a call from my vet. Someone found him *miles* away from my old apartment, and read the vets name off his rabies tag. He'd gotten hit by a car and had hunkered down healing. He was ok tho, nothing permanently damaged. He ran to me when he saw me. Don't give up hope, Justine.

Back then, I’m sure it wasn’t calm at all, and I definitely don’t mean I look at it as a simpler time, but a chunk of the moments you share are very lovely to watch. 🙌
I relate to this tremendously!! These videos also help with my anxiety in an ASMR style. I also do some reenactment myself but Victorian. But I do not have the skills to document through video and upload through CZcams as I am not very tech savvy in that aspect. I adore these styles of videos and cherish them. Bravo to these two and the rest of the Stephenson's house. Everyone seems quite remarkable and lovely!! ❤❤

I do agree that their happy voices would add even more to this heartfelt video, but there is definitely something relaxing in just watching the progress and hearing the sounds of decorating. It seems to remove a bit of the commercial feeling that we see these days, and it helps bring us back to the spiritual meaning of what Christmas is all about. Merry Christmas, everyone.
That is what I was thinking. It’s lovely and everything is authentic but who decorates in total silence? No laughter and banter, no jokes or songs or making holiday plans?

If my husband & I we're younger it would be great to live in a cabin like yours!
My husband & I used to spend 3 months out the year in a 20 ft tipi. We loved it. We had an outhouse, water hydrant & when the water wasn't working; a small stream & lake was our water source.
My husband made me an Indian Speed Queen to wash clothes. A tomato paste can tacked in a bigger can on a stick . We are Native American, so it had to be an Indian Speed Quueen)
I put warmed lake water in a 5 gallon bucket😊
I had an indoor & outdoor fire to cook on!
Loved it!
You hair looks very nice down, I know it's not practical when cooking.

Your decorations are stunning! How inventive to use beeswax to place sprigs of pine & berries in the windows. The swag of cinnamon sticks, dried citrus, lemons and fabric strips along with the jingle bells makes your fireplace absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine how wonderful your cabin smells. Adding the wassel I'm sure, made your decorating day extra special. I can only imagine what the two of you will make for each other as gifts to exchange with at Christmas.

The cabin is beautiful and I can imagine the awesome smells. I think the smell is my favorite part of Christmas. Here is my recipe for "wassel" for folks that don't like cider.
3 cans pulp free frozen orange juice
1 can frozen apple juice
1 heaping tbsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp ground ginger
Thaw and pour frozen juice into a large pot (or crock pot!) Add only 2 cans of water for each. Most brands call for 3 but I like this to be stronger than most premade juice. Add spices and stir thoroughly (, the cinnamon will try to float on the surface and clump.) Heat to almost boiling then reduce heat to a low simmer. Cool to serve. DO NOT POUR HOT WASSEL INTO A GLASS PUNCH BOWL. It will shatter. Feel free to play around with the spices. Nutmeg and allspice are good too. This is a kid friendly version. Yes, you can add booze but the heat makes the alcohol evaporate pretty quickly.
Btw: this stuff is awesome if you have a cold or a sore throat.

Every year around early November, I think, "Put up a Christmas tree? Naaah!" But then I saw your video and felt re-energized by some holiday spirit. Your cabin is so cozy! My mom said that back when she was a kid in the 1930's, her family would decorate their apartment in the old fashioned way (simply, with no glitter), but it was still beautiful. I can imagine the smell of the hearth and all the evergreen decorations - and oh yeah, the hot spiced cider. (I like hot spiced cider - and mulled wine, too.) I hope you find your kitty. Dear Youngsters. Hello. I love your cottage. I am an very old woman and I to though you maybe with child. But I had forgotten abt the cut of your dress and the style of that time. I am so grateful for this site. I am an old history teacher and the things you are showing these young ones, you are teaching them abt our American past and my Grand mum had 1 of of those little heater\cooker. Beautiful! Is that fresh cider or hard cider? I assume the holiday preparations will be in keeping with circa 1820's? The Victorian Christmas wasn't invented yet and Victoria -- and Albert -- were barely invented, both being about a year old in 1820. How much was Christmas really celebrated in those days?
These videos in the cabin have special meaning to me. My husband, who was much older than me, was a very successful California businessman who retired early and moved north for a wilderness lifestyle. I had been born in the Idaho wilderness. We enjoyed a lot of rustic camps and primitive living. He died a few years ago so I am basically alone and I miss scenes like Ron and Justine share. (Except he made sure I have some really nice dogs to keep me company so I am not completely alone.)
And how is MishMish? I hope she came home.
The story of you and your husband is almost identical to my own, except my husband passed away one month ago tomorrow ( December 1st 2021) My husband was 15 yrs older than me, , he retired from the military, and I too was left with my precious dogs....I miss him so much and this Christmas will be hard! Watching this video reinforced to me how happy we were together these past 38 yrs! I wouldn't trade it for the world!! God bless you!!!

My husband was over 90 years old when he passed. His business skills left me in good condition and I bought a private nature reserve in his memory. I am getting conservation status and got the land before developers could act. I have no doubt that his spirit is with me.
Let me share a personal story. J. had had several strokes over a period of three years and he was not well. He told me he had been seeing his dad a number of times in the last year, sometimes in the yard or a glimpse in the house. His dad had passed many years ago and was much missed. Because of my religious beliefs and experiences as a nurse, I encouraged J.'s belief that he was seeing his dad.
Several days before he died, J. had had a vivid dream of his dad who had brought us a message to go to a certain person who had a very unusual pet. J. was very insistent but could not tell me who we needed to see, or where we needed to go. He sadly said his dad had told him we would never go.
The following day J. was comatose from another stroke. We were at our secondary home and I called my best friend to come help. One of the first things she said to me was that she had just acquired the very unusual pet that had been described! The message from J.'s dad then became completely clear with other needed instructions.
Again, I offer you my deepest sympathy and wish you the best.
With all our modern day conveniences it's important to honor the traditions and lifestyles of those who came before us. Those pioneers who lived on the frontier with very little, close to nature and in perfect harmony with the world around them are a testament to the American spirit. Bless you both.

My kids and I are very broke this Christmas and this gave me so much inspiration for decorating.
