Making My Wedding Cake 200Yrs Ago |1828| Historical Cooking ASMR
I'm getting married on May 11th, 1828. That's this Saturday! Allow me to practice baking the cake, which hails from a recipe published in 1828. It's delicious! This one is a winner and you should try to make it at home. Currants, lemon, brandy, citron and almonds make this cake bright and merry.

I designed this wedding dress after being inspired by an original gown dated to 1780. The French fashion house fashion house Atelier Saint-Honore then created it for me and did an outstanding job! It's all hand embroidered with flowers inspired by 18th century embroidery designs. Alas, the dress arrived too small and has caused much worry over the last few months. My best friend Anna surprised ...

I remember eating rabbit when I was a child. We ate pheasant, deer, whatever my father hunted when the ground froze in the winter and he couldn't work on the farm. My mother canned a lot of fruit and vegetables. We didn't have a fireplace, though, but cooked on an old cast iron stove. I love your videos ❤

What a fascinating glimpse into the culinary past! Watching you recreate authentic 1830s recipes without any modern conveniences was truly eye-opening. The dedication and attention to detail you showed in preparing each dish, from start to finish, were truly commendable. It's incredible to think about the challenges cooks faced in the 19th century and how their resourcefulness and ingenuity paved the way for the dishes we enjoy today. Thank you for bringing history to life through food - this video was a delicious journey back in time! 🕰🍽👩‍🍳

What a terrific wholesome time where women had such self respect that they dress modesty even in the home. Now, their future husbands will not be the first or last to see their naked bodies in public (yoga pants, breast cleavage, bottom buttocks under short skirts/shorts. Never able to give him a first hand hold, a first kiss, a first “coming together”, given freely and publicly to all who are in their presence with no shame or self worth.😢 I pray for my boys future wives who are currently being formed in that traditional Godly fashion.

So, a couple things. First, you look stunning! Second, love the creative dress fitting. Not only does it save the day, but to my mind it's very period accurate in that material like that would not have been tossed over so minor an inconvenience. Finally, the fichu. Honestly, I liked the contrast and thought it brought out the white in the embroidery. I think it would look lovely either way, howe, and so should be bride's choice.

Would the chicken have really been that tender in those days. I think they would often be tough and chewy for the pioneers. It’s easy for us to romanticize ideal conditions for them yet surely, often it was not so.
