Fire Emblem - At What Cost? (Rain/Thunder)

This video is a mix, or mashup, consisting of multiple variations on the battle music "At What Cost?" from the Fire Emblem series. It consists of soundtracks from the Nintendo Switch title known as Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
The song “At What Cost?” embodies the course of emotions that naturally comes when faced with the repercussions of unhealthy desire. First and foremost, though, the battle music clarifies the nature of strong desire. With its unique timbre, the organ is constantly heard as accompaniment, oftentimes associated with spirituality. With this connection, strong desire clearly transcends the physical bounds of life and death, just as theology does; it is a force that drives radical action-and radical emotions. In fact, the first emotion that rises as a consequence of damaging yearning is quite inherent: wrath. “At What Cost?” begins as a crestfallen melody, but it quickly grows into a raging tune. Extreme desire will constantly remain unfulfilled due to its standards of acquisition. Thus, ire towards this sense of displeasure likewise remains constant, as found in the ceaseless uneasiness within the music. However, bitterness soon turns into a tolerant sentiment as the song persists on. Reaching a climatic aural resolution, this shift is not unlike acceptance of the unpleasant feeling of unfulfillment. Even so, radical desire has innately already left an impact-and past actions driven by such desire remain locked away in history. As such, the ultimate feeling experienced in the journey of emotion is simply regret. At long last, the unfulfillment of desire is embraced as the truth. Yet the worth of nearing yet not reaching satisfaction is certainly questioned. Regret fills the sound as the melody of toleration ceases. Reflecting back, desire had taken the lives of many and created a world of suffering for others. As the deaths of desire’s rampage develop an ominous silence, ending the song, a difficult question is loud and clear: at what cost?

One of my favorite songs in this game! Listening to it after seeing what Aelfric tried to do in order to revive Sitri even when Rhea said it that her soul could not be brought back and how he and Sitri fused to become the unholy abomination that is the Umbral Beast shows how Aelfric was willing to do anything to revive her at any cost imaginable.
Truly, a person's desires can come at any cost... And at what cost it'll accomplish in the end? Even if it means doing something unimaginable that will cost their lives let alone their deepest desires to achieve their goals.
