Hey Mitch, something I thought about; Could you make a video on your process for finding and narrowing down your cardpool for these videos? I don't know if this is something you'd feel comfortable doing, but it would be a big help for budget brewers to see your method. I scanned your videos but did not see a video like this. I think this is a wonderful idea, every time I brew a deck it ends up around the 200€ mark and frankly I dont have infinite money to spend. lets like this comment so Mitch is more likely to see it
@@fearanarchy yeah, looking at lists of NORMALLY included budget cards is fine, but he obviously does a lot more than slap a few budget cards together. This vid would explain how to make a focused commander deck. Just pulling random cheap cards you like from edhrec gives you a pile of cheap cards, not a focused budget deck.
@@Rocjhead118 Fair enough. But this is another Aristocrat build. You go in with a simple plan and flesh it out with experience. For a while there were go to ramp, draw, etc. And for this, it is X/1 tokens, Aristocrats, and ways to cheaply assemble combos. Not saying my list would be above 80% the same. But it would be very close. Mitch knows the format, has a plan, and plugs in the variables.
Absolutely love this deck, I only recently got into Commander and this is my first “big boy” deck. I’ve made a couple adjustments already, such as Syr Konrad and Clackbridge Troll, and now Commander at my LGS is what I look forward to most because of how fun this deck is to pilot.
I had a copy of Ugin, the Ineffable that I put in my MG deck. The tokens, cards when they die, and ability to start a chain reaction with him is great.
Good deck tech. I would put in crypt ghast and elixer of immortality. Crypt ghast says "when ever you tap a swamp and black mana your pool" extra fixing it does has extort for hybrid but according to WOTC that is reminder text and isn't apart of the cards colour identity. Elixer of immortality incase something goes wrong you shuffle grave back into deck and bam there's all your recourses back.
I literally yelled out "GARY!" when I saw him. And then you called him Gary and it made my entire week. Love that card, had a lot of fun with it in Theros.
I just started playing MTG seriously like 3 days ago. My buddy made me a mono black Liliana deck. He had massacre girl in it. While I was reading the all the cards abilities in the deck so I can prepare for a commander match I came to a SCREECHING halt when I got to massacre girl. I was like "what is this FUCKING awesomeness?!?" I then told my buddy just last night about an idea for a deck with this card as it's commander, what cards I thought it would need, how it would start the attack and how to make sure I prepare for a counter. He was just astonished that I saw everything right away and started looking for things to help build this up. And now I am watching a video on it and yes most of the cards I realized I need are in this video and also thanks there's new cards I haven't seen or realized how to better use. Awesome video man!
I would love to see you do a Pauper EDH deck. 100 cards, no duplicates except basic lands, only commons are allowed, the commander must be an uncommon.
It is kinda boring. Also noy guarenteed cheap. Some of the beat commons can get decent pricey. Search for the uncommon legendaries. Many are either obvious or don't work great with commons only. Some of the Mono from Dominaria are cool enough.

If you are referring to keeping Yahenni alive, all you need to do is sacrifice enough of your creatures ahead of time with him to ensure that Massacre Girl doesn't kill Yahenni when she comes down. If Yahenni already has some counters on him, great! If not, you will need to sacrifice basically all of your other creatures ahead of time.
Synod sanctum won't permanently exile your Commander unless you choose for it to. Whenever you exile your Commander you can always choose to put it in the command zone as a replacement effect, and the command zone is also an exile zone, so when you exile your Commander essentially replace the text saying "exile" with "put into the command zone" and it will still return whenever the synod is sacced. IIRC Jumbo Commander has a video on the same topic.
I've been kicking around a Massacre Girl deck for a while, so this really helps! Also I dig the new editing and the little disclaimers you've added on card price to avoid any confusion on card prices.
7:51 I think I heard that when your commander is exiled like that, it can go to the command zone but still come back if it would return from exile, as long as it hasn't been cast since. Cards like Seal Away are more likely to prompt this interaction.

I built a massacre girl deck with fodder that can regenerate and the rest is pretty much in the same vain reusable id say both of these tactics are fantastic between cheap and rebuildable
Upgrading something to mikaeus the unhallowed, a bit pricey, you end up with an infinite reanimator combo with puppeteer clique and yahenni. Just sacrifice clique with mike out and you can reanimate everyone's graveyards. Just sacrifice the creatures before your end step so you can get them back. This works well with the deck since you're killing everything all the time. You can even reanimate dorks to ramp yourself and cast a big fatty or even your commander a lot easier if they played something pretty big on the last turn.
Tactic number 4: haha! brilliant. it just needed to have "Massacre girl" at the start of the sentence :) so the full text goes like this: "massacre girl, I am your fodder" haha! Also, do note that these prices are Americans only. If you live anywhere else, your shipping prices will be different, but not by much. I pay between 2 and 4 $, depending on the vendor to ship internationally. of course this is pr. vendor and maybe I have to buy from a couple of them to get the cheapest prices.
Fantastic Video! Just one small oversite, Yahenni will still die to Massacre Girl, Indestructible is bypassed by -1/-1 so as long as he is able to stay a little bit bigger than Massacre Girls "Massacre" he will be a fantastic threat
Sorry if I wasn’t clear on that part! Before Massacre girl comes in to keep Yahenni alive you need to sacrifice creatures (the number depends on how many counters Yahenni already has). If Yahenni has none, you need to get rid of your whole board to keep Yahenni alive

I know for sure that this enchantment is more overpriced but could you replace dreadhorde invasion with Bitterblossom as it creates more 1/1 rather then pumping up just the one faerie?
Not gonna lie this deck is really cool! Although what does make me sad to point out is that Yahenni Can't save himself from being minused to death. Indestructible stops damage and destroy effects and not things that reduce them to nothing.
Sorry if I didn’t make this clear, you are correct that indestructible doesn’t save him. But if you have him sacrifice enough of your creatures ahead of time before Massacre Girl comes down he will live. He cancels out all of your opponents creatures dying with the counters but not your own. So if you don’t have creatures, he is fine
I swear I'm not trying to be political, but just as some cool lore trivia: Yahenni, like all aetherborn, does not have sex or gender. I guess the standard genderless pronoun is still up for debate, but in the story, all aetherborn were addressed as "they" even for a singular being.
Personally, I'd probably throw viscera seer in there. Would help a lot when digging through your deck to get stuff. Granted, it'll be sent to the grave rather quickly.. I dunno. I just think scry would be awesome in here
YEAH BAUBLE IS A 2 DOLLAR COMMON! Love the new videos man! I always thought you should increase your budget, mainly because the more money you put in to your deck, the more fun it is to play and keep up with more stronger decks! Just never threw in my two cents (hehe). And i do believe a stable EDH deck should run you at least 50 bucks since thats the msrp of the commander decks from Wizards.
Mitch, I think you overrate Sphere of the Suns in monocolored decks. There are other cheap 2 mana mana rocks that don't become unusable in a couple of turns, and colorless mana is hardly an issue in monocolor. I'd play Leaden Myr, Manakin and/or Milikin instead. Also I'd run some sort of graveyard hate in the deck like Crook of Condemnation, Deadeye Tracker, Merrow Bonegnawer, Silent Gravestone or Scavenger Grounds. When I first read Massacre Girl I thought she had separate triggers (meaning that whenever another creature died she would proc regardless of is she entered the battlefield that turn), which would make her much more powerful and suited to make an Endrek Sahr style token-based deck. But regardless I think since we're generating so many tokens, Mind Slash, High Market, Vampiric Rites, Phyrexian Vault and Spawning Pit would be really good, and also Butcher of Malakir is a stupidly cheap Dictate of Erebos/Grave Pact replacement. Also worth noting that Oathsworn Vampire goes infinite with Pitiless Plunderer, Bontu's Monument and a sac outlet (just run Behold the Beyond hahaha) (I want to run GPG with Gate to the Afterlife in the deck too... God damn I'll have to brew this deck Hahahaha )
True, but if there are enough creatures on your opponnent's side, it gets +1/+1 for each at each "wave" of -1/-1 applied. So, as long as you get 2 opponnent's creatures dying on the first wave, the wave will never catch up to it's (new and improved) toughness at each step. Although it will leave him feeble and small... yet, still alive!
@@politikh keep in mind that if MG kills two 1/1's, it puts another two triggers on the stack, therefore it will always kill Yahenni if you have 2 other creatures out. you can get around this by saccing all your creatures before casting MG though

That's an awesome deck, good sir. But... where are the Drain Life-type effects in that deck? You ARE playing monoblack, right? Also, since it IS a monoblack deck, could we use guys like Nightmare and the like, too?
We could do that, but it might take away some of the focus of this deck. Like if you happened to have a Liliana, Dreadhorde General, you might put her in instead of one of the other card-draw spells because she can combo off with Massacre Girl if you have the mana and/or just create more fodder. Because this is in line with the tactics, this doesn't unfocus the deck, whereas Nightmare is very cool, but she can get wrathed away very easily in this deck, which is fine as long as you're aware of it.
Video on Gyrus, Waker of Corpses? Cheap commander, ramp, sacrifice outlets? Doubling season and primal vigor (?) are out because expensive. Could be a cool deck Much love

I personally recommend starting with one of the precons. they work and theres a bunch of guidance online on how to upgrade them once youre ready. if the investment is too high you could also look at getting one of the CQ decks, and then I would recommend going mono coloured for now, that removes the feelbads of colour screw and you can just have fun playing your budget deck without needing to upgrade a manabase that doesnt make the gameplay more fun. also, try to find some other new/budget players, because playing against full on tuned competitive decks with your 25,- deck isnt fun either. (speaking from experience here) its most important to get a deck that you genuinely enjoy piloting, because after all we play the game to have fun. hope I helped.

I looked this deck up, I really wanna try EDH but wtf is up with the crazy shipping price. I guess its cause TCG player doesnt have all the cards so its coming from all over the place.
So, I’m new to magic. I’m really into EDH and I’m wondering can I buy one of these pre-made or should I go to my local card shop and ask for each card individually?
Julian Peters you’ll have better luck just buying it online, chances are the store won’t have each card, and if you choose to buy pre made I recommend waiting till they release the 2020 edh pre made decks and see if there good and build off one of those.
alternatively you could buy a CQ deck on TCGplayer, (or Cardmarket in Europe) they usually have good prices if youre willing to play with non mint cards. I do recommend precons as well though, because theres a bunch of guidance on upgrades online, so you can really invest into that one deck if you want, but mainly just play something you enjoy, and find a commander you love the art and flavour of. (you're gonna see them a lot)
They aren’t technically necessary, but ramp will make your deck come online much much faster. You can only play one land per turn, but with mana you can play a land AND another mana source which can help you get stuff on the field much faster.
If you don't ramp some, you fall behind to anyone who does. Almost a staple of EDH design: 2cmc ramp. 3cmc will do, but if you don't, you won't live long enough to complain.

When I first read Massacre Girl I thought she had separate triggers (meaning that whenever another creature died she would proc regardless of is she entered the battlefield that turn), which would make her much more powerful and suited to make an Endrek Sahr style token-based deck. But regardless I think since we're generating so many tokens, Mind Slash, High Market, Vampiric Rites, Phyrexian Vault and Spawning Pit would be really good, and also Butcher of Malakir is a stupidly cheap Dictate of Erebos/Grave Pact replacement.
Also worth noting that Oathsworn Vampire goes infinite with Pitiless Plunderer, Bontu's Monument and a sac outlet (just run Behold the Beyond hahaha)

True, but if there are enough creatures on your opponnent's side, it gets +1/+1 for each at each "wave" of -1/-1 applied. So, as long as you get 2 opponnent's creatures dying on the first wave, the wave will never catch up to it's (new and improved) toughness at each step. Although it will leave him feeble and small... yet, still alive!
@@politikh keep in mind that if MG kills two 1/1's, it puts another two triggers on the stack, therefore it will always kill Yahenni if you have 2 other creatures out. you can get around this by saccing all your creatures before casting MG though

Also, since it IS a monoblack deck, could we use guys like Nightmare and the like, too?
We could do that, but it might take away some of the focus of this deck. Like if you happened to have a Liliana, Dreadhorde General, you might put her in instead of one of the other card-draw spells because she can combo off with Massacre Girl if you have the mana and/or just create more fodder. Because this is in line with the tactics, this doesn't unfocus the deck, whereas Nightmare is very cool, but she can get wrathed away very easily in this deck, which is fine as long as you're aware of it.

I personally recommend starting with one of the precons. they work and theres a bunch of guidance online on how to upgrade them once youre ready. if the investment is too high you could also look at getting one of the CQ decks, and then I would recommend going mono coloured for now, that removes the feelbads of colour screw and you can just have fun playing your budget deck without needing to upgrade a manabase that doesnt make the gameplay more fun. also, try to find some other new/budget players, because playing against full on tuned competitive decks with your 25,- deck isnt fun either. (speaking from experience here) its most important to get a deck that you genuinely enjoy piloting, because after all we play the game to have fun. hope I helped.

So, I’m new to magic. I’m really into EDH and I’m wondering can I buy one of these pre-made or should I go to my local card shop and ask for each card individually?
Julian Peters you’ll have better luck just buying it online, chances are the store won’t have each card, and if you choose to buy pre made I recommend waiting till they release the 2020 edh pre made decks and see if there good and build off one of those.
alternatively you could buy a CQ deck on TCGplayer, (or Cardmarket in Europe) they usually have good prices if youre willing to play with non mint cards. I do recommend precons as well though, because theres a bunch of guidance on upgrades online, so you can really invest into that one deck if you want, but mainly just play something you enjoy, and find a commander you love the art and flavour of. (you're gonna see them a lot)
Also, since we're in a mono colored deck here, are the rocks that just add mana really necessary? I can understand Obelisk being in here.
They aren’t technically necessary, but ramp will make your deck come online much much faster.
You can only play one land per turn, but with mana you can play a land AND another mana source which can help you get stuff on the field much faster.
If you don't ramp some, you fall behind to anyone who does. Almost a staple of EDH design: 2cmc ramp. 3cmc will do, but if you don't, you won't live long enough to complain.
