  • Cows eating grass, Greg lets the cows do the talking! There is something very relaxing about watching cows eat fresh green forage from their new pasture. Favorite time of the day is watching our livestock enjoy their new fresh salad bar that is full of all kinds of goodies! If you want to keep your farm profitable every year, check out my 3 grazing books that I wrote on our website: greenpasturesfa...

    I could watch cows eat all day. You mentioned litter. We don't have any so I'm dumping shredded corrugated cardboard and wood chips to cover the bare ground. I'm also bale grazing the poor areas. This is my first summer with cows. Our grass is so poor I took my first steer to the processor today. -Mike

    Thank you for this video!!! Nature at its best!! ---- I have a few random questions, maybe they're best for your next AMA video.
    What do you do with older cows?
    Do you sell them at a certain age?
    If they still raise quality calves and can keep up with the herd, do you keep them until they die of natural causes?
    What happens if a cow randomly dies on the farm (heart attack, etc)?
    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!! This city girl dreams of living a life on the farm!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Thanks for the video! The cool things about birds it doesn’t matter how big your herd, flerd, or flock the birds will come. I have birds all over the place too. I have 5-10 brown headed cow birds that stay pretty close to my animals. The birds go where the food is at no matter how many animals you have.

    Installing barn owl nest boxes would reduce the rabbits and rodents which host ticks and act as a reservoir for viruses like Lyme disease. Fewer hosts means fewer ticks. With fewer snacks around, coyote would have less reason to roam your properties.
    The Idaho Extension has a blue print for making two nest boxes from one sheet of exterior plywood. Mount them 8 feet high.

    I watched a video this morning some scientists are studying the difference between grass fed meat and meat from animals fed with stuff you shouldn’t find in animal feed stuff dosed with drying agent that makes crap crops. The grass fed meat animals have muscles that were compared to athletes and the feed lot animals were compared with sick diabetic people. Or perhaps I should say people with leaky guts because our gut flora are destroyed by the chemicals that are used to do conventional farming. We are what we eat and I want to eat the meat of healthy animals. They are going to also compare organic vegetables to conventional grown vegetables likely the results will shock some people who think meat is not good enough for them and that cheap crap will produce healthy people.. I bet that their plant based foods are contaminated and don’t have the nutrients that they think they are getting..rant over! Pardon my spelling I am not sure if I came close to the actual infamous name or not. I liked listening to the cows and to you too. Thank you for the earthworm portion of the video. Recently someone said that they are not worms they are (paraphrased) mobile intestines or something like that.see you in the next one will the girls do more talking?🌟💝🌟🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🍀✨🍀👍👍👍👍👍🌟💝🌟😘💞💕💞🙋🏼‍♀️

      @dannyc9784 Před 2 lety +2

      The problem with plants/vegetables is even though they may have some nutrients they are not very bioavailable for humans to digest, and they also come along with many toxins from oxalates lectins polyphenols and many more, which are very unhealthy for us. Meanwhile meat is 100% absorbable, it's what our ancestors ate and thrived on.

    • @lindagates9150
      @lindagates9150 Před 2 lety +1

      @@dannyc9784 I eat a variety of foods because we live in symbiosis with a n enormous variety of non human cells so I like to feed them what the beneficial ones need.. . I also eat in a pattern like our distance ancestors right now I am fasting ! 34 hours so far and plan on breaking the fast in another ten hours . I occasionally do omad usually 2 mad and rarely 3mad . Since beating my addiction to sugar and fake foods it is easy to fast our bodies are designed for it. I am thankful that there are people that have provided us with nutrition choices. Since our far distance ancestors made use of fire I cook almost all of my vegetables hopefully that is beneficial for some of the problems with them. I do occasionally eat raw mango and berries. I must say a meal without avocado whether it’s eggs, seafood or grass fed beef or other pasture raised meat is one that is lacking .I will continue eating seeds like hemp hearts spices like garlic, ginger turmeric. Cinnamon, cloves pepper and mined pink sea salt.. butter from grass fed cows and other animal fats I’ve had my first sleep time to get my second one. One last thing I peel and remove the seeds of tomatoes before I cook them!

    What breaks down the cow Pattie’s? My cows are still on Winter hay in a coral. Part gray alfalfa hay. Their poop consistence looks good, but it isn’t breaking down. Once they go to pasture, hoping for two weeks, I can move my chickens and sheep into their coral area. Will that help break down the Cow pies?
