I've got the version with Hogarth and the superman symbol. I like it better than this one. Nice review.

@@gregthehedgehog0956 no it does not but the superman necklace and Hogarth make up for it. I took a plastic beam that came with a batman bane figure and it holds it just fine.

1000toys version is pricey but worth it if you like Iron Giant and you want a pretty definitive version. it might be bigger than 14 inches and diecast too

There was a big electronic walking Iron Giant at walmart like three years ago along with the forbidden planet robot. Their not really poseable but they display nicely.

I've passed on most Iron Giant figures that I've seen, and I think the cel shading was the reason why. Making it actually look metallic goes a long way in making it look a lot nicer. In video games, animation, etc I love cel shading, but when it comes to physical objects I always think it looks weird. You have to lean into the realism when it's a real object, otherwise it just looks kind of cheap and plain.

Great review. Very cool that Diamond Select made a metallic version. Shame about the weight deal and see through mouth aspect. Wish it had effects for the accessories it comes with. Still a cool fandom piece.

Actually, there ARE several shots in the movie where you can see the Giant's neck through his mouth, so that's pretty accurate, in fact. And for scaling; he might look pretty cool posed in a classic model-train layout! And the supplies are very easy to find! =)

Great review. It's too bad this figure was a let down for you. You wonder if during the prototype stage they were planning on adding a bunch of extra stuff, but due to cost it was changed.
It’s very interesting to have that spot on the back!
I got the regular version some time ago don't remember tbh, and its great its not the best figure ever and its not that great to play with tbh but he looks good on the shelf, and that version does come with a little Hogarth.
My only gripe with it is that the plastic is too thin and his whole head lights up, not just the eyes.

The 1000toys one is incredible. I have it and it was worth every penny. Not sure you can really compare considering the price points aren’t even close. It has a lot of weight to it and the articulations are awesome.
