I first saw the Cambridge KJV Family Chronicle Bible displayed at the Museum of the Bible in D.C., which had awarded this Bible their annual Society of Bible Craftmanship award. Much to my surprise, a very helpful worker in the gift shop allowed me to thumb through all 3 editions of this Bible. While there was no way I could justify buying on-the-spot the limited-edition brown calfskin version, I absolutely fell in love with it and determined to save up for its purchase. It was during this time of researching this Bible that I ran across Tim’s CZcams channel and have become a devoted follower ever since!
Finally acquired the Bible recently, and I can’t add very much to Tim’s review but to say he is spot-on. The craftmanship is so obvious, as would be expected of a premium Bible with longevity as its purpose. I’m very enamored with the idea of this continuing a legacy of being in God’s word for (prayerfully) my future generations. One could very well justify its allure as simply a great piece of art. Let’s just say this thing hasn’t stayed in the box very much. It is also a living legacy to the Baskerville Bible of the mid 1700’s, so I also view it as a piece of history. The Family Chronicle Bible checks a lot of boxes of ways I appreciate art, history, books and the word of God itself!

That is a great looking Bible. I don't have anything against Bible apps. I have one on my phone, but nothing beats having a physical Bible in your hand.
You don't carry or drive with that Bible to church -- you BUILD A CHURCH AROUND THAT BIBLE!! That is a AMAZING and GINORMOUS BIBLE!!!

I just ordered one of these, I was surprised they weren't sold out! A pretty penny, but I bought it for posterity sake! Looking forward to opening it in January! The inside sheets kind of remind me of the spackled edition of the Longprimer. Thank you for the awesome review. I am going to keep my eyes open on Amazon for the blue one to purchase if it ever goes on sale. If anyone wants one of these you better hurry up and call Cambridge to buy one before it is sold out (you have to call in or email Cambridge to purchase the limited Bible) 😉

Love mine too! Took it for my main Bible Journaling, verse mapping and highlighting. I am not just going to let it sit on a shelve for only reading. A heirloom is also personal insights that Grandma which my family will love to read years for now.
I used to work in the book trade industry. not sure if its the same everywhere, but we call vacuum packaging of books as "shrink-wrap"

Tim, I believe that the patterned tooling on the black and this one are from the original John Baskeville Folio Bible. It was spoken of in Cambride's video on how they produced these bibles.

The hefty Word. Hey if you're storing a premium bible in a bookcase do you put it back in its box first or do you get crazy and just put it on the shelf as is?
I think we call it plastic wrap in Canada. Plastic wrap or cellophane.

Cambridge did not send all them to me as "keepers," but if I they had... I would keep the brown one, give one to my Mom and Dad, and do a giveaway with the last one!

Yes, that would have been lovely to be able to do that with them, I had actually preordered the blue one but when Christian Book emailed me a few days ago saying they hadn't taken the funds out yet and I could cancel. I have the full set of Dore's but wanted to see that fabulous text, howver ultimately could not justify the cost and ship to Australia. Kind of glad I did because it looks huge!

Hi Tim, the inside paper is called marbled sheets. Technically done by hand - at least on the Bibles done at "18th Century Bibles". He takes a brush and dips into paint to make the marbled design. Not sure Cambridge is done by hand- can you find out?

When I first saw that design on the inside of the box, I got excited for a second and thought that the Bible itself would have marbled page edges. I literally said "No...they didn't! Did they?!" Books from the 18th and 19th century had them often, and I thought maybe Cambridge actually did that here. It would've been insane if they did! But it's still pretty on the end sheets.
