  • This video is a detailed 'how to video" showing an alternate method I used for attaching for casters to my workbench. I had do attach them a different way because I didn’t plan for them in my design. While I used a Rockler Workbench Caster Set for this video what I did should work for most brands. What I did may be very helpful to anyone who wants to retrofit a workbench with casters or even for those who wish to avoid the issue I had with my bench.
I provide detailed instructions on what I did and why. Everything is shown visually and explained in depth. Toward the end of the video I show examples of other styles of workbenches and how they could be retrofitted for casters in a similar way. Those who have other styles of workbenches may benefit from this added content.

Howard, that’s super. The main reason I created my CZcams channel was to help others. I hope it works for you.

Love the additional aluminium & walnut bar. All my machines are on casters. Well done Don

Thanks. It’s much better raising two legs at a time rather than just one. I think it will also help prevent the workbench from racking over time.

Great animation! Would I be wrong in surmising a little Apple motion was used?
I added castors to my bench but did not got far enough to have them life the table...the table is just permanently on wheels. That would have been a nice touch to mine!

Don, do you think the aluminum is needed if I used a piece of oak? Just wondering because I have those same casters on my router table and that would be a nice touch but I cannot for the life of me believe that the aluminum adds any strength to the walnut. Was the walnut an afterthought?

Darth, I used the aluminum to provide a way to attach the bar to the casters and yes, because of the shape of the aluminum I used, I think it ads strength. Without the aluminum the walnut piece would need to be quite a bit thicker.
