The video was based on the game play of the pro player donguri990 who makes a show out of killing bosses in multiple games he plays. This video was based on kingdom hearts II critical mode.

This animation project was made during a rough 7 month time span at 10 FPS and thus contains 3000 drawings. I am really happy that this animation came out so well and it was a delight to work with Julia.

I couldn't agree more. Donguri is freakin great at fights, he really makes it stylish and mixes up skills instead of spamming only 1 routine like most ''no damage fights do''. When I checked the original I was really wow - this guy knows how to make a show out of a fight

Yeah, he made it look like sora brutally beat the sadness out of roxas.
Honestly we used trinity more than I would have liked, but other than that its pretty solid

Seeing this fight like this hits _real_ different.

I think I now understand what this fight was trying to convey. Roxas was fighting for a false life that, deep down, he he ought to know isn't real or worth having. He thinks it's Sora who had taken it from him, but Sora would and does help him move on.

Animating this fight in 2D shows how bat guano insane this fight is. The effects and the movement were taken for great when in 3D but here it's very epic. If that made any sense. I would love to see a KH anime

Why? I mean yeah it’s cool. It puts emphasis on the outlines which makes it easier for animators to get a cool idea of how to draw things in a realistic or more smooth way. But rotoscoping isn’t nearly as impressive as it would be for someone to be able to just do this free hand.

It was a long project - roughly 7 months (The artist took a lot of well deserved breaks inbetween ofcourse :D )
@@GameArts1 was this animated from scratch or did it use each frame from gameplay edited into the rotoscope style
@@djcrimsonsunbird3607 you realize rotoscoping is an animation technique where you trace over footage(usually live action) to nail hard to animate movements. Rotoscope is so much a style as it is a technique. in this its fairly likely this was traced from the game itself.

There is something so satisfying about the simplistic art style. It looks good despite many elements missing. Quite impressive to see a fully animated fight that looks like game play, almost like the engine of the game was changed along with the models a bit like Timeless River. A great animation in my book. 👌

But seriously, this was really fun and beautiful to watch. Even if it was just gameplay that's been animated over.
The way you can follow the whats going on even without a HUD shows how much detail is in this animation. You can even tell whenever Sora activates and deactivates limit drive and solo trinity limit. Amazing job!!!
I really like the aesthetic the rotoscoping gives it, with nothing but colored lines and empty white space. Things we see in our heads have no real appearance, noises and voices have no real sound, so it kinda sells the idea that this was an internal struggle better to me.
This is officially the coolest piece of KH content I've seen in my life AND its KH2 which makes it even better!
It really hurts thinking about how long this took, but I can't stop watching. It's so mezmerizing.
This is so awesome! One of the most memorable scenes. This style is a great take and is somehow reminiscent of KH1's simpler designs.

@@shafootodess Yeah, a few months ago there were a few credible leakers stating that a KH Disney+ series was currently casting, and would have many actors reprise their roles. Check out some CZcams videos about it, it’s really interesting. I recommend TheGamersJoint and maybe HMK’s video

Lower frame rate would make it look like a real anime fight i would live to see this
But the framarate would make the fight hell, kh bosses rely on reaction and counters more thqn anything.

I actually love this so much this was my favorite battle in kh2 and you did the ENTIRE FIGHT. When I watched this I knew everything was correct and this is just so cool I love it. I cant stress it enough
My body didnt really know how to react watching this, it was almost as if every second it surprised me even more. Its so well done i dont even know what to say, this is well beyond good, absolutely amazing.
This aesthetic would be fantastic in an animated movie, with the Villian trying to erase the world. The yin to Spider-Verse's glitching's yang.
The art style changes as the villain's plan is put into action, "degrading" as the villain is more and more successful at deleting the universe. By time of the final battle against the villain, the entire setting has this level of detail, with the biggest sources of color and detail being a "flex" or showcase of the villain's strength (Roxas's casts of Holy / Faith in this case, let alone changing the skybox for those sunset clouds.)
The villain is defeated, and the world starts regaining detail over the course of a minute or five.
This is awesome! If one person did this, imagine what a full team of animators could create working together!

After reading the description, I am glad you took that much time. It looks excellent.
This is exactly the way manga and fighting should be. Not much talking, just nothing but fighting and sound effects. If you become a manga artist and implement this way of fighting while in it you can own even the top shown in, so long as you implement the perspective well in this shot for shot battle! 😁👏👏👏

Drawing over the gameplay frame by frame must've took you a good 6months or more for the finished product it looks so good!
