Thank you so much, Allison, your information is spot on as we are just packing our bags to come to Nicaragua! And we asked ourselves exactly this question. I was delighted to hear you say that at SJDS there were second hand stores! Are there also second hand stores for everything you need for the house (bedroom, bedding, kitchen, bathroom, etc.) ? Thank you for encouraging us by telling us that the rain does not last, but does the water stay on the ground after a long time. And therefore do we have to bring our rain boots? See you in SJDS !
Yay! That’s so exciting 😊. Yes there are a couple second hand furniture stores in Rivas. The rain soaks up pretty quickly unless it’s one of those big storms we had. But even then the roads were dry by the end of the day. I have never worn rain boots, but I did send my kids to school with them. Definitely say hi when you get here!

Thank you for the great videos! We are beginning our move the second week of September to SJdS. We have a few weeks to prioritize what we bring and when, your videos help! We are shopping for plastic bins today to add to our luggage AND more bathing suits for me thanks to you 😁.

Yay!! That’s so exciting! You can never go wrong with too many bathing suits 😂. We actually had a major issue with the car that we bought, so I am no longer recommending the guy we bought from. But there’s a local mechanic in town who helped us buy our current vehicle that I would recommend. If you want his contact just message me on Instagram 😊
Hey Alison! Thank you so much for this video! I'm about to do a test pack in a few days! We are moving to SJDS from Australia! I see in photos and videos Nicaraguans wearing jeans. I was wondering if you have worn any since you've been there? Or is that more for up North? 🙏 15 days and counting before we fly out!
That’s so exciting! I’ve met a few people from Australia here 😊. No I haven’t put on jeans. I tried Capri jeans and was too uncomfortable lol. But the locals wear jeans all the time. Especially up north

Hey! Thanks for the sweet message. It's not that expensive to travel to normally, however flight prices seem to be quite high right now. My favourite routes are mexico city to managua nicaragua, or toronto to liber costa rica (which is very close). November through March are the best months to visit. And I love the idea of my favourtie yoga studios! I'll add it to the list :)
