    Is the Fox Live Valve really worth it?

    Which is best? (Or Yamaha?)
    -I intend to drive it like I’m in Baja 1000
    -I don’t mind changing changing Belts or doing maintenance as long as I can do it at home and not forced to do it out in the desert due to parts breaking on the spot
    -When it rolls over I wanted to hold up and not become total trash

      Well I just got back from Cross Bar Off-road Park in Oklahoma. Seen a bunch of sport SxS’s this weekend. CanAms, Razor’s, Kawasaki’s and Honda Talons’s. 2 seaters and 4 seaters. Didn’t see any YamahaYXZ’s. There was plenty of recreational SxS’s as well. We Had a KRX 1000 running 35” tires, a Razor running 30” tires and I took my Honda Talon 1000R running 33” System3 XT300’s. After this weekend there may be a few extra Talon’s in our group. Now when I go to TexPlex I see quite a few YXZ’s. So in my eye’s the YXZ is good for wide open desert/wide open spaces. The Honda and Yamaha both are belt free running a DCT transmission. I like the Yamaha but you have to shift gears all the time like it or not. Now the Honda you can choose whether or not you want to change gears or keep it automatic which is 1 reason why I chose the Talon over the rest. I seen a few Razors on fire this weekend. Lots of smoking belts and broken axles from CanAm’s and Razor’s. This is the most Honda Talons I have ever seen this weekend. Honda may not have the most power but I never noticed it nor did I even miss it this weekend. My Talon is almost 2 years old now and I haven’t had a single issue. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    • @DUNEATV
      @DUNEATV Před 3 lety +5

      @@stgraves260 I agree with everything you said...and I like the Talon too. To me I’d pick the Yamaha or the Honda. I don’t want reliably issues even thou I admit the Polaris and Can Am run hard! I just prefer the YXZ and I’d buy the SS sport shift YXZ if I bought a new one. Honda in my opinion needs to redesign the air intake system and make the dashboard like the Yamaha YXZ. (Big fail by Honda) The Yamaha‘s duel filter intake system is the best in the business along with the dashboard and steering wheel layout. I feel if Honda took some of the ideas from the YXZ it could be easily the best car to buy. The only other thing I don’t like about the Talon is the engine and transmission are bolted together and are fairly complex. The Yamaha has a divorced engine and transmission which makes it much simpler to service and repair.

      Better mpg when you can shift up and keep the rpm down. My hondas typically get more than 1.5x as far as my buddies with larger displacement and cvt. The main feature of this is they often misjudge their capacity and run out of fuel in the middle of a trail ride hours from base/destination. Then they have to borrow fuel from my spare fuel and luckily I generally don't need it because my honda atv's are pretty efficient.

    This is good but the Can-Am X3r is still MUCH BETTER! The Honda is definitely better than the Polaris Razr but NONE of them can match the Can-Am X3r and Commander side-by-sides! Since I live in a winter climate I go with the Can-Am BECAUSE of its proven deep snow performance and that super-dependable 100 hp Rotax engine -- I also need to carry more survival goods such as food, water, camp gear because it's so cold here in winter. Can-Am gives me that extra payload. From what I understand the Honda is LIGHTER than either so in desert sandy environments, it would have an edge over the Razr or X3r but for rougher, rockier, muddier and snowier 4x4 routes, the X3r wins by a mile!
    It kind of depends what you want to use these for. If you are a hunter/fisherman or farmer, you get a Can-Am Commander series for the payload and distance capability. If you are a Winter Trail or Boggy Swamp runner, you buy the X3r. The Honda is a MOAB/UTAH/Arizona/New Mexico desert runner! The Polaris Razr, you buy for your fall run to the lakeside cabin in the Smokey Mountains!
